Dr. Ch. Visweswara Rao, is in the position of, HOD of the Mechanical Engineering Department at Miracle Educational Society Group of Institutions. He is doctorate from prestigious institute Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi. He has experience of over 13 years in Industry and Teaching. He served in various manufacturing industries before switching his career to teaching field. He has been awarded with CEO award at Rapsri Engineering Industries Limited, Bangalore in 2009. He has more than 10 publications in SCI journals and proceedings of various conference journals.

What are the factors that make this program the best for the students to opt?

Basically, mechanical engineering is a dual role engineering branch. One side, students get opportunities in the core side, on the other side they can switch over to the software field. On the Core side, they have plenty of opportunities in the automobile, aerospace sector and other manufacturing industries. Presently, industries don’t have properly trained students to recruit into the manufacturing sector. So, we are bridging that gap by giving that knowledge required for industry ready, so that the industries can select these students. So many recruiters from various industries are approaching us for recruitment of our B.Tech students. However, due to the current state of mindset of the students towards software field, the students were giving less preference to core sector. This will create vacuum in manufacturing sector again the demand for core jobs will increase in the coming 2 to 3 years. We are trying to change their mindset by motivating them constantly and telling them the advantages of being in the core sector. After two years, students will get equivalent salaries and promotions as equivalent to the software sector. The career growth of the student is drastic in the manufacturing sector. So, mechanical engineering or core branches have wide opportunities for young engineers.


What are the best practices in this program you are doing?

I believe that being connected with the industry people is our key. Moreover, we are teaching in a way that combines both theoretical and practical knowledge for easier understanding. We are offering practically oriented subject narration so that students also get interested and are attracted to our teaching. We are dedicated to make our students industry or entrepreneur ready through continuous motivation. Our faculty is blend of an experienced and young professional. We have the state-of-the-art lab equipment and licensed software for best teaching practice. 


How does the program ensure the best program? How does the program ensure that students are being prepared for the future?

Our ultimate goal is to move our students toward the industry side and their ultimate goal is better career in the future. Most of the students are looking for industry jobs so we are building their careers by constantly motivating them. Regular industrial visits and organizing workshops through various industrial experts gives our students an exposure to the current practices. We give the student an opportunity to select elective subjects of his choice based on their career plans.

What do you think are your roles and responsibilities?

Our role is to educate our students using the curriculum as per the syllabus decided by the university. We ensure 100% class work and create interest among students in attending classes regularly. We are offering study materials prepared from text books written by international authors for better understanding and learning. We are preparing lesson plans covering all the relevant topics. The library and sports period are part of our timetable. We also encourage our students to participate in extracurricular activities. We are offering training for a positive mindset and attitude. 


What were the challenges that you faced while inculcating this program into your curriculum?

Presently, the students who are joining this course lack communication skills. We have students joining from rural areas. So we are providing them with extra communication skill programs. We are focusing and giving them various training programs for the campus recruitment process by providing CRT classes in the third year itself using external experienced human resources. 


What are the benefits and career options after pursuing this course?

Mechanical engineering is a versatile field with consistent demand. It offers opportunities in both software and core manufacturing sectors, with more public sector job options compared to computer science engineering students. While initial package offered may be less, but their experience leads to higher pay and career advancement. Our current students are working on various electric vehicle projects, focusing on environment friendly automobiles, exploring robotics and artificial intelligence in manufacturing sectors. This field offers room for innovation and growth for the students who are looking for higher academics.
