Dr. Subbulakshmi has been working as the Head of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department at Nellai College of Engineering, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. She has done BE, ME and PhD as part of her education and holds a rich 17 years of work experience in the teaching sector. She is also an expert of subjects like Digital Image Processing, Microprocessor and Microcontroller and Embedded Systems. She has published a total of 16 research papers in various national and international journals and Digital Image Processing is her favorite research area.

How does your college empower students and train them to stand apart from the crowd?

Our college provides finest quality and employment oriented Engineering education to young and ambitious youths of society to empower them and recently we had organized a workshop on Fundamentals of MATLAB to equip them with required skills. Another benefit of this MATLAB program is that it not only impart technical knowledge but also encourages students to explore and execute their project ideas independently.

Which factors make the programs of your institute the best and worth pursuing for students?

The prime factor which makes our program an exceptional choice and worth pursuing for students is nothing but its comprehensive approach which is used to instill much needed entrepreneurial, technical, practical and project development skills by making them familiar with the general concepts of Computer Science and Programming. 

And since these skills are in high demand in the corporate world, students after finishing it will be better prepared for the competitive job market.

How is the MATLAB course going to be beneficial for aspiring students?

The MATLAB course is very beneficial for students as upon successful completion of it, students will be transformed as proficient project developers and also capable of turning concepts into reality through coding and hardware prototype creation.

What are some valuable insights of the MATLAB program that students are pursuing from your college?

Students who are at present pursuing the MATLAB program will be able to develop valuable coding skills over time and learn how to transform their code into tangible hardware prototypes.

In other words, the course not only strengthens their theoretical concepts but also provides them with abundant opportunities for practical and hands-on learning.

How do the programs of your institute ensure the future preparedness of students?

For the purpose of helping our students excel not only in academics baut also in other co-curricular activities and do their best during internships and job interviews, our college has adopted a very comprehensive and flexible curriculum which covers both the theoretical as well as practical aspects of concepts. Hence I would say our curriculum helps us a lot in making students future ready.

How did you train your faculty to efficiently deliver the ECE programs to students?

In order to enhance the skills and teaching abilities of our faculty members, training sessions and faculty development programs are regularly conducted by the institution. And this in return helps teachers to efficiently deliver practical knowledge and course content to students for ensuring an enriching learning experience for young and curious minds.

How do you build a strong association between your college courses and industry demands?

We have maintained strong relations with reputed industries and corporate professionals to get timely suggestions, feedback and assistance for acquisition of skills such as PCB development, embedding, and effective presentation techniques and prepare our students with the knowledge to fulfill real-world needs.

What challenges have you faced while inculcating a MATLAB program in your College's curriculum?

While we were integrating the MATLAB to our college's curriculum, the main challenge in front of us was accommodating the high demand from final year students who were eager to pursue Matlab projects independently.

On what kinds of projects your students usually work on under the recently introduced course?

Throughout the course duration, our students work on a diverse range of projects including image processing, embedded systems and hardware module preparation and this ultimately helps them to utilize their classroom learning to real-world use cases and broaden their skill set and knowledge base.

What benefits and career options will be available to ECE Department students after pursuing a MATLAB course?

In today's digital and dynamically challenging world, a plethora of work opportunities are available for Graduates having MATLAB skills and it also gives them an edge in the corporate sector.
