Dr. Tilottama Singh is the HOD at Uttaranchal University (Uttaranchal Institute of Management). She has obtained her master’s in Human resources and Management with Distinction. Prior to that, she graduated in Economics Honors and law with distinction, with an added Vocational course in Mass Communication and Analytic certification from IIM. She is a certified HR and an analyst. She is a gold medalist in human resources and economics and a Reviewer Board Member of the International Journal of Advanced Scientific Research and Engineering Trends.

She has been awarded as Best Presentation Award in international conferences like IEOM and MIDAS, and has received the Best Paper award for a paper published in the International Journal of HRM and Best Paper Presentation at IEOM, Conference 2021. She also serves as a member of AIMA and acts to lead and liaise between the student community and the industry delegates, with a keen interest in training in emotions and spirituality.

What is the latest program that you are offering in your institute/dept. Which will help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd?

We have added the Personality Development Programme as a VAC (Value Added Course) to introduce students to life skills and overall personality development which will help them to outperform and stand apart from the crowd. We have also added courses on analytics for skill upgradation and enhancing the employability quotient of our students as per the market demand.

What are the factors that make this program the best for the students to opt?

Management Programmes play a crucial role in building good rapport and can be incredibly beneficial in building a network and establishing trust and a stronghold in the management domain. These skills improve people skills and body language which will be helpful in getting job opportunities. This program will keep students motivated, Further, it will also give a clear direction to them toward their actual goals of either being an employee or an employer (Entrepreneur).

What will you say are the “best practices” in the course you’re offering?

We are encouraging our students to start their own businesses by offering them great placements with top-notch brands. We are providing our students with opportunities to practice teamwork and leadership and encouraging them to come up with creative solutions. We have been conducting Interactive Training and Video-Based Training for them.

What are some valuable insights of the program that you are offering at your institute/dept.?

Providing personality development training enables our students to think outside the box both creatively and critically. Using these skills, they will be able to weigh up their options and learn teamwork, communication, problem-solving, leadership, interpersonal skills and assertiveness. In addition, we organize seminars, workshops and guest lectures from industry experts for the awareness, professional grooming and skill development of students.

How does the program ensure that students are being prepared for the future?

Apart from examinations and practical internships, we conduct skills testing, behavioral and personality assessment, aptitude testing, project assessment and mock interviews to uplift our students.

We have experienced trainers who have 5+ years of corporate experience through FDPs from renowned organizations, life skill trainers and experts.

How do you tend to build an industry connection with this program?

Our PD program develops effective communication (spoken and written) and presentation skills. We are training our students on social Networking like LinkedIn which will help them to build connections with the industries.

What were the challenges that you faced while inculcating this program into your curriculum?

In the beginning, some students were not aware of the course outcomes and requirements so their presence in classes was a challenging task for us. Apart from this, finding a expert faculty and encouraging students to opt for this program was also very difficult.

What are the types of projects that the students are working on through this program?

Through this program, students will be working on Presentations on their core subject topics, Goal Settings (Long-term and Short-Term), Portfolio, Video Resume and SWOT Analysis.

What are the benefits and career options after pursuing this course?

Students will be able to handle interpersonal relations and make appropriate decisions. This program will ensure effective communication, good impressions and an impact to gain professional development. A student will be infused with a good basic life lesson learned to be successful in the workplace. We will help in developing interview skills, industrial etiquette and professional grooming that comprises teamwork, communication, body language, adaptability, problem-solving, leadership, interpersonal skills and assertiveness.
