Dr. Pradeep Suri is the Dean of the Management Department at Uttarachal University. At the undergraduate level, he has done M.Com. Further, he holds a Ph.D. in Commerce and Management and MBA & PGDBM in Finance. Apart from this, he has also qualified for UGC-NET. He holds a total experience of around 29 years (Academics and Industry). He has been working as Director/Dean at Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun (NAAC A+ Grade) for the past 14 years. Also, he has been the Dean of Academic Affairs and Dean Alumni Association for the past 2 years.
He is been working on a book titled “Working Capital Management” with Taxman’s Publications. He has 3 Indian patents published titled as “A System Of Implementation Of Blockchain Technology In Internet Banking And Enhancement Of E-Trust In Customers”, “Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning Based On Facial Reorganization” and “A System of Develop Modeling the Barriers of Artificial Intelligence Adoption in Organization”. Further, he has published many papers in top journals.
You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?
Many teachers have a deep passion for learning and imparting knowledge. This intrinsic motivation motivates them to stay in this field. I believe that teachers have a unique opportunity to shape the minds of future generations. This potential for long-term impact is a compelling reason for many. In my opinion, education is constantly evolving with the development of technology, methods, and pedagogy so there is always something new to learn and implement. A sense of community can be very strong in educational institutions. Collaborating with colleagues, interacting with students and being a part of institutional growth can be rewarding. The education sector naturally supports the concept of lifelong learning. Professionals in this field often have opportunities to continue their education, attend conferences, workshops, and more. In many parts of the world, positions in education, especially in public institutions, can offer a level of job security that is attractive to many.
Being the Dean of Uttaranchal Institute of Management, what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?
Educational institutions aim to foster an environment of learning, discovery and personal growth. As dean, it is paramount to always prioritize this mission and guide decisions to realize this vision. It is important to recognize the diversity and expertise of faculty, staff and students. By getting input from various stakeholders, we ensure that the decisions made are in the best interest of the community as a whole. The educational landscape is constantly evolving. Being receptive to change and anticipating future challenges is critical to maintaining consistency and excellence. To encourage innovation, foster a strong sense of community, and ensure that all members feel valued and motivated to contribute their best efforts. The world of education is always evolving. As Dean, one must be a student at heart, constantly learning and adapting to ensure the institution remains at the forefront of academic excellence.

Being the President/VC of XYZ College/University, how do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your school?
Before developing any strategy, it is important to ensure that all plans are consistent with the school’s vision and mission. This provides a clear direction for all subsequent steps. Engaging faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni, and the local community because I believe their input is invaluable in shaping the direction of the college. Here are some of the strategies we are following:
- Conduct surveys, focus groups, and town hall meetings to gather feedback and perspectives.
- Identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for the school. This analysis provides the foundation for formulating a strategy that leverages strengths, addresses weaknesses, capitalizes on opportunities, and mitigates threats.

I can provide a vast amount of information on a variety of topics. Students can consult me for quick explanations, fact-checks or references on academic topics. I can help students understand complex topics by breaking them down into simple terms or by providing different perspectives. I can also help generate ideas, provide hints, or guide students to relevant resources. For students struggling with certain topics, I can provide more clarification like a teacher. I can answer questions, help solve problems, and provide additional context or examples. Researchers and students can consult me for academic papers, historical events, scientific concepts and more. I can guide them to relevant literature, methods or relevant information.
