What do you see as CMJ University's greatest strengths?
The greatest strength of CMJ University is its location, infrastructure and faculty. It is accessible for the students of various states of North-East India as it is situated on the junction of many states. It is nearer to Assam and situated in Meghalaya.
What are some of the biggest challenges you see, both for higher education in general and for CMJ University specifically?
The biggest challenges nowadays are asking or motivating students to read books. Since the Corona period students are not willing to read books, rather they become lazy and want to take short-cut to acquire degrees. For us there are some other issues which erupted in 2013-14 and still it has not been resolved.
Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring candidates?
I would like to suggest some of the points which I feel are necessary for each and every student, for example an institute/university gets its name and fame due to students and teachers relationship as well as their achievement. As I come across some of the minor university’s students or faculty give good output and that particular university comes to be known due to that person's achievements. Therefore, it is not a university but the human beings involved over there are the one who gets its work place known to others. i.e. our second president Dr. S. Radhakrishnan was a teacher of Mysore University; due to him that university got its name and fame. Similarly, if human power works with its full potential then any place of his worship comes in limelight due to particular student achievements.
What are some plans that you are currently (or will be) designing for CMJ University international affairs and/or students?
First of all, since I have joined this University, I have been trying to regularize students, facilitate them with various modern equipment, laboratories improvements, libraries improvements and over all facilities to be provided to the students. We have also planned to organize activities like students’ educational tours, seminars and other activities where our students can interact with international bodies.
How do you tend to establish a healthy relationship and environment in your Institute/University?
We as an academician should cooperate with students whenever they are in need of facilities, equipment and any other social or educational guidance. By helping the students we can have good relationships with students, faculties and administrators.
What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the University and the students are?
Our responsibilities towards students are many fold, i.e. educational facilities of various kinds in hostels, libraries or laboratories. As well as University well being is concerned that we have been doing by bringing various courses, providing good infrastructure and making others to know us by our achievements.
Being the VC of CMJ University, what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?
It is very simple; I do not think any University can be world class without world class faculty and infrastructure. Leadership means in the University to listen to the students, provide solutions to their problems and innovate teaching-learning style. As we know in today’s world education means occupation so provide students professional education that can be used in today’s world.
How does the curriculum of CMJ University ensure the best practice of industry?
This point I raised in the beginning and tried my best to provide a curriculum to the students which is modern, developed and innovative in design.
