Mr. Bhavesh Kumar is the Head of the Department of the Faculty of Science and Technology of Computer Applications at Sai Nath University. He holds a BCA degree, after which he earned a MCA degree. Mr. Kumar has been associated with Sai Nath University since 2016.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the college and the students are?

My primary responsibilities are managing the course and ensuring that the students receive the best possible education. As you know, the course is highly demanding; we always try to deliver the best to the students, and for that, I have to regularly update the course content to align with the latest industry trends and technological advancements. Along with this, I have the responsibility of managing the faculty members within the department, managing the class, ensuring an effective learning environment, and addressing any issues or concerns raised by the students.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry-oriented?

In this course, we focus on practical applications by offering subjects like data sciences, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. We prioritise software development by providing training in programming languages such as Python, C++, and JavaScript. These languages are widely used in the industry, enabling our students to adapt quickly to market demands. Teaching these programming languages is crucial, as they are widely used in the industry. By mastering these languages, our students gain a competitive edge and are better prepared to tackle real-world programming challenges.

What are the types of projects that the students are working on through the program?

Students in our program have worked on a wide range of projects in programming languages and computer applications. Some examples include projects in Java, C++, Python, data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. As you know, the computer application field is very vast, which offers many opportunities for students to explore different areas of interest. Students are engaged in data science projects that involve analysing large datasets, developing predictive models, and extracting valuable insights from complex data. Projects in machine learning and artificial intelligence in which students work on tasks like building recommendation systems, natural language processing, image recognition, and predictive modelling. These projects enhance their understanding of cutting-edge technologies and prepare them for real-world applications.

How do you help your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world?

We regularly organise seminars and workshops to equip our students with the necessary skills and knowledge. We have a software tech park where students can gain experience and knowledge of the latest technologies. We also arrange industrial visits to train them in the industry and provide practical training to enhance their skills. Training and internship programs give the students a chance to apply their theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios. This helps them understand the practical aspects of their field and develop essential professional skills, making them more competitive in the job market.

How do you tend to build an industry connected with this program? 

As this field is software-related and computer applications, we have tie-ups with many companies in the software tech-park. They provide training and placement opportunities for our students. Companies like Wipro, TCS, Accenture, and Infosys have hired our students. We also have connections in the government sector. For example, we have a tie-up with Jharkhand Tool Room, where students receive training in data networking and other related fields. We also have connections with BSNL, which provides additional training opportunities for our students. These industry connections provide our students with valuable training and placement opportunities.

How did you train or prepare yourself/ faculty to deliver the program to the students?

We have a highly educated faculty team with a lot of experience in their respective fields. This expertise allows them to effectively train and prepare themselves to deliver any programme to the students. We organise regular meetings and seminars for our faculty members, where they can learn about and discuss recent advancements in computer applications. We provide a supportive environment for our faculty members, encouraging them to engage in continuous learning so that the students receive the most relevant and up-to-date knowledge.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students? 

It is crucial to set clear goals for yourself. Determine what you want to achieve in your academic and professional life and work towards it with dedication. It is important to understand that it is impossible to learn everything in the ever-evolving field of computer applications. Instead, focus on gaining expertise in specific areas that align with your interests and career goals. Having a positive mindset is essential for success. Surround yourself with supportive peers and mentors, practise self-care, and believe in your abilities. Remember that a positive attitude can help you overcome challenges and achieve your goals.
