Courses like Information Technology and Electronics and Communication Engineering became significantly more competitive in 2022, with closing ranks improving to 55,995 and 64,017, respectively, indicating higher demand. Electrical engineering remained relatively stable, while mechanical and metallurgical engineering saw a decline in popularity, with closing ranks crossing 99,000 and even 1,27,000.

In terms of cutoffs, securing a rank below 60,000 is generally needed for high-demand branches like IT and ECE. Ranks in the range of 60,000 to 90,000 fit mid-tier branches such as Electrical, while 90,000 and beyond is typical for core branches like Mechanical and Metallurgy.
