Dr. Arvind Dangi is an Associate Professor of the Faculty of Computer Application at Manav Rachana University. He is a gold medalist of the Post Graduate Diploma in Information Security from IGNOU University. He also holds an MCA (GGSIPU), M.Tech (MDU), MBA (MGU), and doctorate from Jamia Millia Islamia. 

Dr. Dangi has more than 13 years of experience in the field of computer science and is UGC Net qualified. He is the editor of the International Journal of Science, Technology and Society (IJSTS), Science Publishing Group, New York USA. Moreover, he is a panel member of Easy Chair, and is a part of the Reviewer Board. Besides completing two research programs, he also has a patent in engineering and technology. Dr. Aravind also has over 18 publications in renowned international and national journals.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

Developing healthy relationships with students and fellow faculty is crucial for creating a positive learning environment. Active listening plays a vital role in this effort. When a student or faculty member is speaking, we give them our full attention. Maintaining eye contact, nodding in agreement, and responding appropriately is important. This shows respect and empathy, making others feel valued and understood.

Secondly, supportive feedback is key. We provide constructive feedback that focuses on growth and improvement. Instead of criticizing, we offer suggestions for enhancement. Another approach is to encourage collaboration among students and colleagues. We do this by creating opportunities for group work or interdisciplinary projects. 


How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry-oriented?

To bring a practical and industry-oriented approach to subjects, incorporating case studies can be highly effective. Case studies provide real-world examples and scenarios that students can analyse and discuss, bridging the gap between academia and industry. Students can see the direct application of theoretical concepts in real-life situations, which helps them understand the relevance of their studies.

Students are tasked with analyzing the given situation in case studies, identifying key issues, and proposing effective solutions. This encourages critical thinking and learning how to apply theoretical knowledge to practical challenges. To further enrich the practicality of case studies, we invite guest speakers or industry experts to share their experiences and insights. Their firsthand knowledge can provide valuable context and enhance the student's understanding of theoretical concepts.


What are the best practices offered by the department to the students which help them gain necessary skills?

The department can implement a range of best practices to help students gain the necessary skills through case studies and activities. One effective approach is to conduct case study workshops. These workshops can provide students with the necessary guidance and tools to analyse and solve case studies effectively. By understanding the key elements of a case, applying relevant theories and concepts, and presenting well-reasoned solutions, students can develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Another valuable practice is to establish collaborations with industry organisations and professionals. This will help students to work on real-life case studies that reflect the challenges and complexities of the professional world.


How do you strategize the curriculum and how often it gets updated to make it befitting for the students?

Strategizing the curriculum and keeping it updated to meet the needs of students and market demand is an ongoing process that requires regular evaluation and industry engagement. To begin with, regular evaluation of the curriculum is done by gathering feedback from students, faculty, and industry professionals. Building strong connections with industry professionals and organizations enables the department to stay updated on the latest trends, technological advancements, and skill requirements in the job market. Furthermore, conducting market research and analysis can aid in identifying emerging trends and skill gaps in the industry. What are your views on the placements and higher education of the students from your department or How does your department prepare students for higher education?

The department plays a significant role in preparing students for higher education and facilitating their placement opportunities. We have preparatory classes that focus on academic writing, research methodologies, critical thinking, and study skills. By providing a solid foundation in these areas, students are better prepared for the academic rigour they will encounter in higher education. 

Faculty members or academic advisors within the department can provide valuable insights into different institutions, admission requirements, and expectations. The guidance provided by academic advisors helps students make informed decisions, and this increases their chances of admission. Moreover, the teachers can support students in securing placements by organising career development workshops, inviting industry professionals for guest lectures, and facilitating internships or co-op programs.


How do you help your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world?

One way to support students in coping with the high level of competition in the outside world is by providing training on the latest technologies. This training equips students with relevant and in-demand skills that are sought after by employers. This ensures that the students are well-prepared to meet the requirements of a competitive job market. It also enables students to stay ahead of the curve and adapt to the rapidly changing technological landscape. The outside world is characterised by constant advancements and innovations. By providing training in these areas, the department helps students keep pace with industry developments and equips them to tackle the challenges of a competitive environment.
