TOEFL Eligibility Criteria 2025

ETS does not lay down any TOEFL eligibility criteria for test-takers. Anyone, regardless of age or work experience, can apply and take the test. However, certain considerations need to be taken into account if the candidate is 15 years of age or younger. These criteria are listed below:

• 15-year-old or younger candidates are advised to be accompanied by a parent or guardian adult aged 18 or above, who will be required to complete and sign a release form at the test center.

TOEFL requires a primary valid and acceptable ID to be presented at the test center each time the exam is taken. Candidates have to make sure that these documents are up to date on the exam day. The candidates will be required to provide supplemental ID documents if the primary ID documents are questioned by the Test Administrator.
