Class 6 Science Chapter 11 Light, Shadows and Reflections: Important Topics
The important topics of class 6 science chapter 11 include the following:
- Transparent, Translucent and Opaque Objects – Depending upon whether an object allows light to pass through, it is classified as transparent, translucent and opaque.
Transparent objects allow light to pass through them completely. Translucent objects allow some light to pass, thus we can see through them but not very clearly. Opaque objects do not allow light to pass and thus we cannot see anything through them. |
- Shadows – Shadows are the areas where light from a light source is blocked by an opaque object.
Shadows appear dark and black and gives a rough idea about shape of an object. |
- Pinhole Camera – A pinhole camera is a camera which do not have lens. Instead, it is made up of an opaque box with a small hole in it that allows light to pass through.
When light passes through the small hole in the box, it forms an inverted image of the object on opposite side of the box. This effect is called Camera Obscura. |
- Mirrors and Reflections – Mirrors are the objects that reflects light and enables us to see our own image.
When light falls on mirror, it gets reflected back to our eyes and helps us to see our image. |
