What is IPU CET 2026?

IPU CET 2026 is the common entrance test conducted by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Delhi through the National Testing Agency (NTA). It is the gateway to over 35,000 seats in BBA, BCA, LLB (Integrated), MBA, MCA, B.Pharma, M.Pharma, M.Tech and other professional programmes across 130+ government, government-aided and self-financing colleges affiliated to IP University.

For the 2026-27 academic session, GGSIPU has made an important change. B.Tech admissions will no longer be done through IPU CET — they will be based entirely on JEE Main and CUET (UG) scores. This shift affects more than 7,000 engineering seats at USICT, MAIT, BPIT, MSIT and other affiliated engineering colleges.

This year, more than 2.5 lakh candidates registered for IPU CET 2026 across all programme codes. The exam was held in computer-based test (CBT) mode on multiple dates between 25 April 2026 and 23 May 2026, and results have been declared in phases starting 3 May 2026. The university’s counselling process is now in Round 1, with the first seat allotment list out on 12 June 2026.

IPU CET 2026 Counselling: Seat Allotment & Cutoff

The biggest update right now is the release of Round 1 seat allotment on 12 June 2026. Candidates who registered for counselling, paid the Rs. 1,000 counselling fee and filled their choices between 2 June and 9 June 2026 can now log in to ipu.admissions.nic.in to check their allotted college and course.

Along with the allotment list, GGSIPU has also released the Round 1 opening and closing ranks (cutoffs) for every participating college and category. The cutoffs are programme-wise and category-wise, and they confirm which ranks have made it to USICT, MAIT, MSIT, VIPS, MAIMS and other top colleges.

If you have been allotted a seat in Round 1, you must pay the part-admission fee online and complete document verification by 17 June 2026. Missing this window will lead to automatic cancellation of your allotted seat.

Here is what you should do right now if you have been allotted a seat:

  • Download the provisional allotment letter from ipu.admissions.nic.in.
  • Choose one of three options: Freeze (accept the seat), Float (accept but stay in queue for an upgrade) or Withdraw (exit counselling).
  • Pay the part-admission fee online between 11 June and 16 June 2026.
  • Upload all required documents for online verification between 12 June and 17 June 2026.
  • Wait for Round 2 if you have chosen Float — Round 2 allotment is expected in the first week of July 2026.

If you did not get a seat in Round 1, do not panic. The Round 2 allotment usually has lower cutoffs because many top rank holders move to other universities (DU, JMI). Last year, MAIT CSE closing rank dropped from 2,165 in Round 1 to 3,012 in Round 2 for the Delhi General category.

General Eligibility

  • Nationality: You should be an Indian citizen. Some programmes have a small reservation for foreign nationals and NRIs.
  • Domicile: 85% of seats in most programmes are reserved for Delhi-region candidates and 15% for outside-Delhi candidates.
  • Age: Minimum 17 years on or before 1 October 2026 for UG programmes. There is no upper age limit for most courses.

Candidates appearing in qualifying exams in 2026 are also eligible, provided they submit proof of passing at the time of counselling.

IPU CET 2026 Application Process

The IPU CET 2026 registration window has already closed (11 April for CET-based courses and 15 May for NLT-based courses). However, you should understand the process for future reference. The registration is done entirely online at ipu.admissions.nic.in.

The IPU CET 2026 application fee is Rs. 2,500 in total — Rs. 1,500 as the non-refundable registration fee and Rs. 1,000 as the counselling fee. Both amounts are collected at the time of registration. If you applied for more than one programme, you had to pay Rs. 1,500 separately for each.

Here are the steps you would have followed:

  • Step 1: Visit ipu.admissions.nic.in and click on "New Registration".
  • Step 2: Fill personal details, academic details and choose the programme code.
  • Step 3: Upload a recent passport-size photograph and signature in the prescribed format.
  • Step 4: Pay the application fee online through credit card, debit card, net banking or UPI.
  • Step 5: Download the confirmation page and keep it safely.

You should be aware of the form correction window. GGSIPU usually opens a small edit window after registration closes — this year it was from 13 April to 17 April 2026 for CET-based courses. Always check your category, gender and date of birth carefully before submitting because these fields are not allowed to be changed during counselling.

IPU CET 2026 Exam Pattern

The IPU CET 2026 exam pattern is uniform across most programmes but the subject distribution changes based on the programme code. The exam is conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode with 100 MCQs to be answered in 2 hours 30 minutes. Each correct answer gives +4 marks and each wrong answer loses 1 mark.

Feature Details
Mode Online (CBT)
Duration 2 hours 30 minutes
Total Questions 100
Total Marks 400
Question Type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
Marks per Correct Answer +4
Negative Marking -1 for every wrong answer
Medium English (Hindi available for select programmes)

Subject-wise Distribution by Programme

Programme Sections Questions per Section
BBA English Language & Comprehension, General Awareness, Logical & Analytical Ability, Business Aptitude 25 each
BCA English Language, Mathematics, General Awareness, Computer Awareness 25 each
B.Tech Biotechnology Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, English & Logical Reasoning 25 each
MCA Mathematical Ability, Analytical & Logical Ability, Computer Awareness, English Language 25 each
LLB (Integrated) English Language, General Knowledge, Legal Aptitude, Logical Reasoning 25 each

You should plan your time as 1.5 minutes per question on average. Most toppers attempt 75-85 questions with high accuracy rather than attempting all 100, because the -1 negative marking can sink a strong attempt very quickly.

IPU CET 2026 Syllabus

The IPU CET 2026 syllabus is based on Class 11 and 12 NCERT textbooks for most programmes. For the postgraduate programmes (MCA, M.Pharma, M.Tech), the syllabus is at the bachelor’s level. Here is a quick overview by programme.

BBA Syllabus

  • English Language & Comprehension: Reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, sentence correction, para jumbles.
  • General Awareness: Current affairs of last 12 months, Indian economy, business news, awards, sports.
  • Logical & Analytical Ability: Syllogisms, blood relations, coding-decoding, series, data sufficiency.
  • Business Aptitude: Basics of management, marketing, finance, banking and Indian economy.

BCA Syllabus

  • English Language: Same as BBA.
  • Mathematics: Sets, relations, functions, complex numbers, matrices, calculus, probability — all Class 11-12 NCERT level.
  • Computer Awareness: Computer fundamentals, hardware, software, MS Office, internet, history of computers.
  • General Awareness: Current affairs, science & technology, Indian polity.

MCA Syllabus

  • Mathematical Ability: Algebra, calculus, vectors, probability, statistics at graduation level.
  • Analytical & Logical Ability: Data interpretation, puzzles, critical reasoning, syllogisms.
  • Computer Awareness: Programming basics (C, OOP), DBMS, operating systems, data structures, networking.
  • English Language: Comprehension, vocabulary, grammar.

LLB Syllabus

  • English Language: Comprehension, grammar, vocabulary.
  • General Knowledge: History, geography, polity, current affairs.
  • Legal Aptitude: Legal reasoning, important Supreme Court judgements, fundamental rights, basics of law.
  • Logical Reasoning: Statement-assumption, statement-conclusion, syllogisms, analogies.

You should focus on past 5 years of IPU CET papers because the question style repeats heavily. The Computer Awareness section in BCA, for example, has had 12-14 repeated questions every year since 2021.

IPU CET 2026 Admit Card

The IPU CET 2026 admit card has already been released for all programmes. NTA released the admit cards 3 days before each exam date for the respective programmes. The first admit card was released on 22 April 2026 (for the 25 April exam) and the last batch was released on 20 May 2026 (for the 23 May exam).

If you appeared for the exam, you should have downloaded the admit card by logging in with your application number and password at ipu.admissions.nic.in. The admit card contained your roll number, exam date, exam centre address, reporting time and detailed instructions.

You should keep your admit card safe even now because it will be required during the counselling document verification stage. Without the admit card, your application can be rejected during verification.

The mandatory items you needed to carry to the exam centre were:

  • Printed copy of the admit card with passport-size photograph pasted on it.
  • One original valid photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN, Driving Licence, Passport, Voter ID).
  • A simple ballpoint pen.
  • A transparent water bottle.

IPU CET 2026 Result

The IPU CET 2026 result has been declared in multiple phases starting 3 May 2026 at ipu.admissions.nic.in. This is different from earlier years when all results were declared on a single date. The phased declaration is because the exam itself was spread across 9 days.

Phase Programmes Result Date
Phase 1 BBA, BCA, MBA 3 May 2026
Phase 2 MCA, LLB Integrated 10 May 2026
Phase 3 B.Pharma, M.Pharma 17 May 2026
Phase 4 M.Tech and remaining programmes 22 May 2026

The result was released in the form of a scorecard containing your roll number, name, marks scored in each section, total marks, overall rank and category-wise rank. You should download the scorecard immediately because the portal sometimes shows server errors during peak counselling time.

Steps to download your IPU CET 2026 scorecard:

  • Visit ipu.admissions.nic.in.
  • Click on "Result / Scorecard" link.
  • Enter your application number and password.
  • Click on "Submit" and your scorecard will be displayed.
  • Download the PDF and take a printout.

IPU CET 2026 Cutoff

The IPU CET 2026 Round 1 cutoff was published along with the seat allotment result on 12 June 2026. The cutoff is the closing rank up to which seats were allotted in each college, programme and category combination. There is no single "qualifying cutoff" — every college and category has its own rank-based cutoff.

Here are the indicative Round 1 closing ranks for top GGSIPU colleges in 2026 (Delhi General category):

College Programme Round 1 Closing Rank 2026 Round 1 Closing Rank 2025
USICT, Dwarka BCA 410 425
USMS BBA (General) 620 655
MAIT, Rohini BCA 1,180 1,220
MSI, Janakpuri BBA 1,440 1,520
BPIT BCA 1,720 1,790
VIPS, Pitampura BBA 1,950 2,080
MAIMS BBA (CAM) 2,650 2,710
USLLS BA LLB 520 540
USICT MCA 180 195

The cutoffs above are for the Delhi General category. Outside-Delhi and reserved category cutoffs are usually 1.5x to 3x higher.

You should remember that GGSIPU releases cutoffs round-by-round. Round 1 cutoffs are the highest. By Round 2 and the spot round, the cutoffs typically drop by 600-1,500 ranks for top colleges as upper-rank holders move to other universities like DU and JMI.

IPU CET 2026 Marks vs Rank

The IPU CET 2026 marks vs rank analysis helps you predict your rank based on your raw score. For 2026, the difficulty was rated moderate across most programmes, which means the rank distribution should look similar to last year. Here is the indicative table for the BBA programme — the most popular IPU CET programme by registrations.

IPU CET Marks (out of 400) Expected Rank (BBA) Expected Rank (BCA)
350+ 1 - 100 1 - 80
320 - 349 101 - 400 81 - 350
290 - 319 401 - 1,000 351 - 900
260 - 289 1,001 - 2,500 901 - 2,200
230 - 259 2,501 - 5,000 2,201 - 4,500
200 - 229 5,001 - 9,000 4,501 - 8,000
170 - 199 9,001 - 14,000 8,001 - 13,500
140 - 169 14,001 - 22,000 13,501 - 21,000
Below 140 Above 22,000 Above 21,000

The marks vs rank table for IPU CET shows that scoring above 300 puts you in serious contention for USICT and MAIT — the two most preferred colleges. Around 260-290 marks usually lands you a Delhi General seat in good affiliated colleges like MSI, BPIT, BVP and VIPS.

These ranks are indicative and based on the past 3-year trends. The actual rank depends on the difficulty level of the paper and the number of candidates who appeared.

IPU CET 2026 Counselling Process

IPU CET 2026 Preparation Tips

The IPU CET 2026 has finished, but if you are preparing for the 2027 cycle or a similar university-level entrance, the following tips will help you. The preparation strategy depends heavily on your programme choice — BBA needs strong general awareness, BCA needs maths and computer fundamentals, and MCA demands graduation-level math and programming.

  • Start early: A 4-6 month focused preparation is ideal. Toppers of IPU CET 2025 reported studying 4-5 hours daily for 5 months.
  • NCERT first: Class 11 and 12 NCERT books cover 70% of the BCA, BBA and B.Pharma syllabus.
  • Solve last 7 years of papers: The question style repeats. In BCA Computer Awareness, around 12-14 questions every year are direct repeats of previous years.
  • Take 30+ mock tests: Mocks teach you time management. The -1 negative marking penalises guesswork heavily.
  • Build a daily current affairs habit: The General Awareness section needs 12 months of consistent reading. Use one newspaper plus a monthly compendium.
  • Speed and accuracy drills: Aim for an attempt of 75-85 questions with 90%+ accuracy. This typically translates to a rank under 1,000.
  • Sectional strategy: The cutoff for each section is informal — you do not need to clear individual sections, only the overall rank matters. So focus on your strongest section first.
