IPU CET 2026 — the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test — is a set of course-specific online entrance tests conducted by GGSIPU, Delhi, for admission to 78 programs at its Dwarka campus and 100+ affiliated colleges across Delhi for the 2026-27 academic session. More than 50,000 candidates appeared across 78 CET codes in exams held from April 25 to May 23, 2026, and Phase 3 (Sliding Round) seat allotment was released on July 9, 2026. The Stray Vacancy Round — the final chance to secure a seat — is expected this week in the third week of July 2026.
- Stray Vacancy Round: The IPU CET 2026 Stray Vacancy Round is expected in the third week of July 2026 — this is the final opportunity for candidates who did not secure a seat in Phases 1, 2, or 3. Remaining unfilled and surrendered seats will be redistributed. In 2025, the stray vacancy round was conducted in the last week of July at ipu.admissions.nic.in.
- Online Counselling Closure: All IPU CET 2026 online counselling ends on August 3, 2026. Candidates who have accepted a seat must complete fee payment and college reporting before this date. Seats not confirmed by August 3 will be cancelled and cannot be recovered.
- Phase 3 Allotment Released: The Phase 3 (Sliding Round) seat allotment was released on July 9, 2026. Candidates who selected Float or Upgrade in Phase 1 or 2 were automatically considered for a better seat. Those allotted in Phase 3 had until approximately July 11, 2026 to pay the admission fee and report to the allotted college.
- Academic Session 2026-27: GGSIPU-affiliated colleges are expected to begin the new academic year in August–September 2026. Students who have confirmed their seats should collect original admission letters and complete document verification at their allotted college before classes begin.
What is IPU CET 2026?
IPU CET stands for Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test. GGSIPU — a Delhi state university established in 1998 and recognized by UGC under Section 2(f) and 12(b) — conducts this test every year for admissions to programs at its Dwarka campus and affiliated colleges across Delhi. The university holds an A++ grade from NAAC, making it one of the highest-graded state universities in India.
Unlike a single national-level exam, IPU CET is a group of separate course-specific tests, each assigned a unique CET code. Programs in management, computer science, law, mass communication, education, design, and health sciences each have their own CET. The 2026 cycle covered 78 CET codes, with exams held across multiple dates from April 25 to May 23, 2026, in CBT mode at centers across Delhi.
A major development for 2026 is that B.Tech General Engineering (Code 131) admissions are no longer through IPU CET. Over 7,000 engineering seats at GGSIPU affiliated colleges — including MAIT, MSIT, and BPIT — are now filled through JEE Main 2026 and CUET (UG) scores. Only B.Tech Biotechnology and Lateral Entry B.Tech (Code 128) remain under the IPU CET route.

IPU CET 2026 Counselling and Seat Allotment
The IPU CET 2026 counselling is conducted online through the Pravesh Mitra portal at ipu.admissions.nic.in. GGSIPU confirmed that there is no counselling participation fee for the 2026-27 session. The process ran in three main phases, each redistributing seats that were not accepted in the previous round. Phase 3 (Sliding Round) allotment was released on July 9, 2026, and the Stray Vacancy Round is the only remaining step.
Phase 3 allotment has been released (July 9, 2026). If you accepted a Phase 3 seat, your reporting deadline was around July 11, 2026. The Stray Vacancy Round — the final round for unallotted candidates — is expected this week. Check ipu.admissions.nic.in immediately for the official schedule.

Freeze, Float, and Upgrade Options Explained
At the time of accepting a seat in any phase, candidates had three options:
- Freeze: You accept and confirm the allotted seat permanently. You opt out of future rounds and no further changes are made to your allocation.
- Float: You accept the seat provisionally and remain in the pool for a better allotment in the next round. If a better seat (higher on your preference list) is available in the next round, the system upgrades you automatically. If not, your current seat is retained.
- Upgrade: Similar to Float but specifically targets a better branch or program within a preferred college. Not all programs support this option.
Since Phase 3 is now complete, the Float/Upgrade cycle for main rounds has ended. The Stray Vacancy Round is a separate process open only to candidates who have not yet confirmed any seat.
How to Participate in the Stray Vacancy Round
The Stray Vacancy Round redistributes seats that remain after Phase 3 — from non-reporting, seat withdrawals, or initial vacancies. Candidates eligible to participate are those who:
- Did not receive any allotment across Phases 1, 2, or 3
- Received an allotment in an earlier phase but formally withdrew without freezing a seat
- Meet the eligibility criteria for the programs in the available seat pool
To participate, you should:
- Log in to ipu.admissions.nic.in and check the Stray Vacancy Round notification once the official date is announced
- Register for the round by entering your program preferences from the available seat matrix
- Attend counselling on the scheduled date with all original documents
- Pay the admission fee on the spot if a seat is allotted to you
Step-by-Step Online Counselling Process
- Step 1 — Registration: Log in at ipu.admissions.nic.in with your IPU CET credentials and complete the counselling registration
- Step 2 — Choice Filling: Select and rank preferred colleges and programs from the seat matrix. You can add as many choices as you want
- Step 3 — Lock Choices: Lock your preference list before the deadline — no changes are allowed after locking
- Step 4 — Check Seat Allotment: Log in to see your allotted college and program name after the result is released
- Step 5 — Pay Admission Fee: Pay the first instalment of the admission fee online before the deadline. Non-payment cancels the seat automatically
- Step 6 — Document Verification: Visit the allotted college with all original documents and two sets of self-attested photocopies
- Step 7 — Report to College: Report physically to the allotted college on or before the reporting date to confirm enrollment
Offline Counselling (Select Programs)
Programs like BHMCT, BSc Yoga, MSc Yoga, BSc Packaging Technology, and MSc Packaging Technology follow a physical offline counselling process. Candidates must appear in person at the GGSIPU campus or a designated venue with original documents on the scheduled date. Offline counselling for these programs was scheduled from June 30 to July 2, 2026, and is now complete. Check ipu.admissions.nic.in for updates on any remaining offline rounds.

What is on the IPU CET 2026 Rank Card?
- Candidate name and application number
- CET code and program applied for
- Total marks out of 400 scored in the exam
- Percentile score
- Overall CET rank across all candidates for that CET code
- Category-wise rank — Delhi Region and Outside Delhi Region, under General and reserved categories
Your category-wise rank is the most important figure for counselling. GGSIPU allots seats separately for Delhi Region and Outside Delhi Region candidates. The rank shown under your applicable category on the rank card is what determines your priority in each round of seat allotment.
What Score is Considered Good in IPU CET 2026?
A score of 330–360 or above out of 400 is generally considered competitive for well-known colleges under BBA and BCA. For USMS (the premier BBA unit at GGSIPU’s own campus), you typically need a Delhi Region rank within the top 100 — which requires scoring close to 380–400. For respected affiliated colleges like VIPS or MAIMS, a score of 280–340 and a Delhi Region rank within 300–1,500 is usually sufficient for most programs.
IPU CET 2026 Cutoff
The IPU CET cutoff is the closing rank at which the last seat is filled at a given college and program in each counselling round. GGSIPU publishes the closing ranks after every round. Phase 1 cutoff was released on June 12, 2026; Phase 2 cutoff followed on June 30, 2026. Phase 3 closing ranks will be finalized after July 11, and the final cutoff will be published after the Stray Vacancy Round ends.
Since the 2026 counselling cycle is not yet fully complete (Stray Vacancy Round is still pending), the tables below use 2025 closing ranks as a reference. Actual 2026 cutoffs for completed rounds may differ based on candidate numbers and exam difficulty.
IPU CET BBA 2026 — Indicative Closing Ranks (Based on 2025 Data)

| Jagannath International Management School (JIMS) | 2,000 – 3,500 | 3,500 – 5,000 |
IPU CET BJMC / BA (JMC) 2026 — Indicative Closing Ranks
Journalism and Mass Communication programs at GGSIPU are competitive. The University School of Mass Communication (USMC) on the GGSIPU campus is the top choice and typically fills up within the top 200–300 Delhi Region ranks for BJMC. Affiliated colleges like BIMS offer BJMC with closing ranks ranging from 500 to 2,000 depending on the round.
The data above reflects 2025 closing ranks and is for reference only. The 2026 official cutoff data from Phase 1 and Phase 2 is available at ipu.admissions.nic.in. Phase 3 and final Stray Vacancy Round cutoffs will be published after each round closes.
IPU CET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for Law Programs
- For LLB 3-year (Code 238): Graduation with minimum 45% marks. SC/ST candidates need 40%
- For BA-LLB / BBA-LLB (5-year): Class 12 with minimum 45% marks. These programs now admit students through CLAT scores rather than a separate IPU CET
- For LLM: LLB or equivalent law degree with minimum 55% marks. Admitted through CLAT PG scores
Eligibility for MBA and MCA
- For MBA: Graduation in any discipline with minimum 50% marks. GGSIPU accepts CAT, MAT, GMAT, or its own MBA CET scores
- For MCA: Graduation with Mathematics at 10+2 or graduation level, minimum 60% aggregate marks in graduation
Domicile and Category Seat Rules
GGSIPU divides seats into two pools: Delhi Region and Outside Delhi Region. The seat matrix and cutoff ranks differ significantly between these categories. Most programs reserve a substantial quota for Delhi Region candidates who have studied in Delhi schools or colleges.
Candidates must carry a valid Delhi domicile certificate or documentary proof of Delhi residency — such as a Delhi school leaving certificate or Aadhaar card with a Delhi address — during counselling to claim the Delhi Region category benefit. Missing this document means you will be considered under the Outside Delhi Region pool, which has a higher cutoff at most colleges.

IPU CET 2026 Preparation Tips
If you are targeting IPU CET 2027, you have around 6-7 months to prepare from now. The exam is moderately difficult, but the -1 negative marking and a 150-minute window across 100 questions demand a smart strategy — not just hard work. Here is what you should focus on:
Build the Right Foundation First
- Start with your specific CET code’s syllabus: Each program has its own topic list. Download the official brochure for your CET code from ipu.admissions.nic.in and map all topics before buying any book or joining coaching. Many candidates waste months studying topics not in their exam.
- Use Class 11-12 textbooks as base material: For BCA, NCERT Mathematics (Class 11-12) covers most of what is tested. For BBA and BJMC, the CBSE Class 12 English textbook and standard grammar books cover the English section well.
- Solve previous year papers early: Solve at least 5 years of IPU CET papers for your CET code. They reveal the question distribution, difficulty level, and recurring topics more reliably than any coaching material.
Section-wise Preparation Strategy
- English Language: Read one editorial every morning — this builds comprehension speed and vocabulary together. Work on grammar rules for tenses, prepositions, and subject-verb agreement. These are the highest-frequency question types in the English section across all CET codes.
- General Awareness (BBA, BJMC): The General Awareness section covers the last 6 months of current affairs. Follow one reliable daily news source and review a monthly current affairs digest. For BBA, pay extra attention to business news, Union Budget highlights, and economic policy updates.
- Logical Reasoning: Practice puzzles, blood relations, seating arrangements, and syllogisms every day. Speed matters more than anything else in this section — aim to answer each reasoning question in under 90 seconds during practice.
- Mathematics (BCA, MCA): Start with NCERT Class 11-12 Mathematics. Focus on algebra, coordinate geometry, and statistics. After completing NCERT, use one standard practice book for competitive exam-level drill questions.
Mock Tests and Exam-day Strategy
- Take at least two full-length mock tests per week in the final 6 weeks before your exam. Always analyse mistakes — do not just record your score and move on.
- On exam day, start with the section you find easiest. You get about 1.5 minutes per question — enough time if you manage the clock well.
- Skip difficult questions on the first pass and return to them in the last 20-25 minutes. This avoids spending too long on hard questions and missing easy ones elsewhere.
- Negative marking discipline: Attempt a question only if you are at least 70% confident. Four wrong answers cancel one correct one — so random guessing is actively harmful to your score. Thoughtful skipping is always better than a guess.
- A score of 300+ is competitive for most programs. For top colleges like USMS (BBA) or USICT (BCA) at the GGSIPU campus, you need 370+ and a Delhi Region rank in the top 100.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on IPU CET 2026
Ques. Is B.Tech admission through IPU CET cancelled from 2026?
Ans. Partly, yes. From 2026, GGSIPU no longer uses IPU CET for B.Tech General Engineering (Code 131) admissions. Over 7,000 engineering seats at affiliated colleges like MAIT, MSIT, and BPIT are now filled through JEE Main 2026 and CUET (UG) scores. However, B.Tech Biotechnology and Lateral Entry B.Tech (Code 128) still use IPU CET for admissions in the 2026-27 cycle.
Ques. Has IPU CET 2026 Phase 3 seat allotment been released?
Ans. Yes. IPU CET 2026 Phase 3 (Sliding Round) seat allotment was released on July 9, 2026. Candidates who selected Float or Upgrade in Phase 1 or Phase 2 were automatically considered for a better allotment. The reporting deadline for Phase 3 allottees was approximately July 11, 2026. The next and final round is the Stray Vacancy Round, expected in the third week of July 2026.
Ques. What is the IPU CET 2026 Stray Vacancy Round?
Ans. The Stray Vacancy Round is the last counselling step in the IPU CET 2026 admission cycle. It distributes seats that remain vacant after Phase 3 — due to non-reporting, seat withdrawals, or initial unfilled vacancies. It is the final chance for candidates who did not get an allotment in any earlier phase. The 2026 stray vacancy round is expected in the third week of July 2026. In 2025, this round was held in the last week of July.
Ques. When does IPU CET 2026 counselling end?
Ans. All IPU CET 2026 online counselling activity ends on August 3, 2026. This is the final deadline for fee payment, seat confirmation, and college reporting. Candidates who miss the August 3, 2026 deadline will forfeit their allotted seat, with no exceptions.
Ques. What is the marking scheme for IPU CET 2026?
Ans. IPU CET 2026 follows a 4-1 marking scheme. You get +4 marks for each correct answer and lose 1 mark for each wrong answer. Unattempted questions carry no penalty. The total paper has 100 MCQs carrying 400 marks, completed in 150 minutes. There is no sectional time limit, so you can attempt questions from any section in any order.
Ques. Is there any counselling fee for IPU CET 2026?
Ans. No. GGSIPU officially confirmed that there is no counselling participation fee for the 2026-27 session. Candidates only pay the admission fee (first instalment toward the academic fee) after accepting their allotted seat. This is different from the application fee of Rs 1,000 (General/OBC/EWS) or Rs 500 (SC/ST/PwD) paid at the time of registration.
Ques. What documents are required for IPU CET 2026 counselling?
Ans. For IPU CET 2026 document verification at the allotted college, you need:
- IPU CET 2026 rank card (printout from ipu.admissions.nic.in)
- Class 10 certificate and marksheet (originals + 2 self-attested photocopies)
- Class 12 certificate and marksheet (originals + 2 self-attested photocopies)
- Graduation certificate and marksheets (for PG programs and B.Ed)
- Category certificate — SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD (if applicable, with validity)
- Delhi domicile certificate or proof of Delhi residency (for Delhi Region quota)
- Aadhaar card or other valid government photo ID
- Passport-size photographs (6-8 copies)
- Admission fee payment receipt
Ques. Can students from outside Delhi apply for IPU CET 2026?
Ans. Yes, students from any Indian state can apply for and appear in IPU CET 2026. GGSIPU has a separate Outside Delhi Region seat quota in most programs. However, competition is higher in the outside-Delhi pool at top colleges because more candidates compete for fewer seats. Delhi Region candidates have a separate (usually lower) cutoff at the same college, making it easier for Delhi-based students to secure admission at competitive institutions.
Ques. What is a good score in IPU CET 2026 for BBA at a top college?
Ans. For premier colleges like USMS at the GGSIPU campus (the top BBA destination), you need a score of 380-400 out of 400 and a Delhi Region rank within the top 100. For well-regarded affiliated colleges like VIPS and MAIMS, a score of 300-340 and a Delhi Region rank within 300-1,500 is generally sufficient in most rounds. For BCA at top colleges, a score of 300-350 marks puts you comfortably in range for VIPS and JIMS in Round 1.
Ques. When will IPU CET 2027 registration begin?
Ans. IPU CET 2027 registration is expected to begin in February 2027. For reference, IPU CET 2026 registration opened on February 2, 2026. GGSIPU has followed a February start consistently for several years. Candidates targeting 2027 should watch ipu.admissions.nic.in from January 2027 for the official notification. The application fee per CET code is Rs 1,000 for General/OBC/EWS and Rs 500 for SC/ST/PwD candidates — these amounts may be revised for 2027.
Ques. How many total seats are available through IPU CET 2026?
Ans. IPU CET 2026 covers 78 different programs (CET codes) at GGSIPU’s main Dwarka campus and 100+ affiliated colleges in Delhi. For BBA, approximately 2,650-2,800 seats are available across all affiliated colleges. BCA has around 3,390+ seats. The total intake across all programs — management, computer science, law, health sciences, education, design, and hospitality — runs into tens of thousands of seats for the 2026-27 session. Engineering seats (B.Tech general) have moved out of IPU CET from 2026 and are now filled through JEE Main and CUET.
