The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test (IPU CET) results are most expectedly scheduled for a June 2026 release. Ques. How can I calculate my expected marks in the IPU CET exam?
Ans. It’s very easy to calculate your marks using this formula:
Total Score = (Correct Answers X 4) - (Incorrect Answers X 1)
Now suppose you answered 80 questions out of 100:
- 70 are correct: 70x4=280
- 10 are incorrect: 10x1=10
- Your Final Score will be 280-10=270.
Ques. Does the scorecard show my section-wise marks or just the total?
Ans. The IPU CET scorecard generally showcases the marks obtained by you out of 400 and your All India Rank (AIR). It does not provide a subject-wise breakdown of your marks.
IPU CET Merit List 2026
After the IPU CET 2026 Results have been announced, the university starts preparing a merit list of the qualified candidates.
- Admissions/seat allotment are strictly based on the IPU CET 2026 Merit List.
- The Counselling and Cutoff Rank schedule will be posted on the GGSIPU’s official website.
- In case there’s a tie among candidates who are securing the same marks, the IPU CET 2026 Merit list will be determined by the following criteria.

Good Score in IPU CET 2025
A good score in the IPU CET 2026 depends on the college and course you are targeting. To get admission to the top colleges like University School of Information Technology (USICT), Maharaja Surajmal Institute (MSI), Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies (VIPS), and GGSIPU.
For undergraduate programs, a good score can range as follows:
- For BBA/BCA/BJMC, a score of 300+ out of 400 is considered good for the Delhi region, while for outside Delhi applicants, a score of 320+ is required.
- For BA LLB / BBA LLB, a score of 320+ for the Delhi region and 340+ for outside Delhi is required for top law colleges.
- MBA (via CAT/CMAT): A CAT percentile of 85 or above is required to get into USMS, the top B-school in IP University.
- For B.Tech, a JEE Main rank under 25,000 for the Delhi region and under 7,000 for outside the Delhi region is needed for CSE in USICT or MAIT.
Ques. Will my “Rank status” tell me if I am qualified for counselling?
Ans. The “Rank status” indicates whether you’ve met the minimum eligibility criteria set by the university. Only students with a “Qualified” status and a valid merit rank are eligible to participate in the online preference-based and seat allotment rounds.
IPU CET 2026 Result: Seat Allotment
IPU CET Seat Allotment will be conducted for candidates who qualify for the exam. It is done on the ranks mentioned in the merit list. The rank-ordered merit list is prepared based on the performance of the candidates, and qualified candidates will be required to pay the fee and freeze their seats within the scheduled time to be considered for subsequent rounds of counselling.
- To secure their admission, the candidates will be required to download the provisional admission letter.
- Seat allocation does not mean guaranteed admission. If the candidate fails to fulfil the eligibility criteria decided by IPU, then he/she will not be able to retain their allocated seat, which will lead to cancellation of admission.

IPU CET 2026 Counselling
- The marks obtained by the candidate in the IPU CET exam will determine the shortlisting of candidates for the counselling process.

Ques. What is the next step after the result is declared?
Ans. Once the results are declared, you must register for Online Counselling by paying a registration fee of ₹1,000. Then choose your preferred college, and wait for the seat allotment rounds to start.
Ques. Can I change my college/subject preference after first round of counselling is completed?
Ans. No, after the completion of the first round of counseling the candidate cannot change their preference either in college or university. You might just have to cancel your admission to that particular college.
Ques. How to lock the choices/preferences of the counselling for submission?
Ans. There is no such provision for locking the choices. The choices you submit and save will automatically be considered as locked by the system at 5 pm of last date/date of choice locking as mentioned in the Counselling schedule, automatically.
Ques. If my house is in Delhi but I have done my schooling from a school in Faridabad, will I be considered for Outside Delhi candidates?
Ans. Yes, sadly, you will be. The GGSIPU makes it clear that the school of the candidate should be in the Delhi region. Your house can be anywhere; it does not matter.
Ques. Is there an upper age limit in UG and PG programmes?
Ans. Unlike DU, IP University has an upper age limit for its programmes. For UG level programmes, where the entry qualifications are 12th pass, the upper age limit is 21 years. And for PG level programmes, where the entry qualification is a graduation degree, the upper age limit is 35 years. There is no upper age limit for the MBBS programme.
