The IPU CET 2026 exam is to be conducted in the month of February-April 2026 by the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), and the counselling would commence in June 2026.
- In contrast to IPU CET BBA (and most of its course variants), it operates in a computer-based format, with 100 MCQs to be answered within 3 hours (180 minutes).
- Every right answer will give +4 marks, and a wrong answer will deduct a -1 mark.
BE/B.Tech admission through IPU CET is being eliminated in general engineering courses; it will depend on JEE Main scores. IPU CET will then specialise in Biotechnology, Lateral Entry streams, and JEE not covered courses.
In 2024, around 23,000 candidates took the BBA CET and competed for approximately 2,000 seats in 44+ IPU-affiliated colleges.

Ques. Was the pattern of the IPU CET exam similar in 2020 to 2025?
Ans. Yes, IPU CET was largely similar in 2020-2025 in the form of MCQs with Sectional distribution and +4/-1c marking. Although the quantity and length of questions will differ according to the programme chosen (BBA, BCA, B.Tech Biotech, etc.). The overall structure of the exam remains largely similar.
Ques. How many questions are usually asked in the exam?
Ans. The total volume of questions varies depending on the programme, generally ranging between 100 and 150. For example, BBA/BCA papers contain 100 questions, or the B.Tech Biotech or any other technical programme contains 150 questions. Candidates should verify using the official year-specific PDF to avoid confusion.
IPU CET Question Pattern Trends
The exam showed consistent topic-level repetition rather than exact question repetition. PYQs help the candidate to prepare well, especially for subjects such as English grammar, reasoning, and general awareness.
Year | Evidence of exact Q-repeats (PYQ : next year) | Observed trend (topics repeated) | Source notes |
---|---|---|---|
2025 | Coaching & PYQ sites advise practising PYQs; some memory-based analyses noted few repeated concept-level questions, but no official “repeat count”. | Topic-level repetition (similar concepts/questions on English grammar, basic reasoning, GA themes) rather than verbatim repeated sets. | Memory-based analyses & PYQ repositories; not official IPU stats. |
2024 | Prep sites reported overlaps in question styles and topics; direct verbatim repeats uncommon. | Emphasis on repeating question types (e.g., para-jumbles, data-interpretation patterns), not exact sentences. | Exam analyses & coaching reports. |
2023 | PYQ compilations available; many students found practice with past papers helpful - suggests recurring themes. | Recurring topics: comprehension passages, logical puzzles, basic numeric DI, and general awareness themes. | PYQ sites and college prep blogs. |
2022 | No official claim of reused questions; coaching writeups note similar question templates across years. | Repeated templates rather than verbatim reuse. | Coaching & analysis portals. |
2021–2020 | Same pattern: past papers useful for practice; no official repeat-counts. | Topic and template repetition is common (typical for many entrance tests). | PYQ archives and prep articles. |
Ques. Does IPU CET directly repeat previous year questions?
Ans. IPU CET does not repeat the exact questions of previous years very often. Rather, it tends to recycle ideas, formats and subject matters like grammar, logical puzzles and interpretation of data. The past year's question paper is also very good since it makes the students familiar with the patterns and types of questions that have a tendency to occur.
Ques. Are past year papers useful in IPU CET preparation?
Ans. Previous year papers are quite helpful since they emphasise the repetitive type of questions and the weight of the subject. Although precise questions are not regularly repeated, PYQ's familiarity with difficulty levels and time management is built up. Professionals suggest practising 5-7 years of papers to have good preparation knowledge.
