The IPU CET 2026 exam is to be conducted in the month of February-April 2026 by the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), and the counselling would commence in June 2026.

  • In contrast to IPU CET BBA (and most of its course variants), it operates in a computer-based format, with 100 MCQs to be answered within 3 hours (180 minutes).
  • Every right answer will give +4 marks, and a wrong answer will deduct a -1 mark.

BE/B.Tech admission through IPU CET is being eliminated in general engineering courses; it will depend on JEE Main scores. IPU CET will then specialise in Biotechnology, Lateral Entry streams, and JEE not covered courses.

In 2024, around 23,000 candidates took the BBA CET and competed for approximately 2,000 seats in 44+ IPU-affiliated colleges.

How many Candidates have registered for IPU CET? ( 2025-2023)

The number of candidates who have registered for the exam has shown a significant increase from about 89,705 in 2023 to approximately 109,468 in 2024. This indicates the growing popularity of the exam.

The data for the year 2025 is not yet clearly published or verified.

Year Total Applications (for IPU CET BBA)
2023 89,705
2024 109,468
2025 Data not clearly published/verified yet

Ques. What are the reasons behind the reported differences in registration numbers of IPU CET?

Ans. Discrepancies arise because different sources may refer to different courses (only BBA, or all UG + PG), include or exclude duplicate registrations, or use “applications submitted” vs. “candidates appeared”. Always check if the number is specifically for BBA or includes other courses.

Ques. What are the most correct and up-to-date registration numbers of all IPU CET programmes?

Ans. The most reliable sources are the official site of IPU / GGSIPU and the annual brochure or notification PDF. Post-exam statistics are usually released by official press releases or the examination cell. If required, RTI requests or contacting their examination cell could be used to assist with older or missing data.

IPU CET Reappearance Trends (2025-2020): Exam Pattern Trends

From the year 2020 to 2025, the exam has maintained a consistent MCQ format with course‑dependent durations (150-180 minutes) along with 100-150 questions.

  • The +4/–1 marking scheme and sectional patterns have been constant.
  • There are no major structural changes over these years.
Year Reported Mode & Duration Typical total Qs / Total marks Marking scheme (common) Sectional notes/changes observed
2025 (reported) Mostly offline / OMR (CBT/pen-paper varies by course). Duration commonly 150-180 min, depending on the course. Sources show 100–150 questions (varies by course); some pages list 100 Qs, others 150 Qs. Total marks quoted vary accordingly. +4 for correct,-1 for wrong, 0 for no attempt — this marking regime is repeatedly mentioned across exam guides. Pattern remains sectional (English, Logical/Reasoning, GA, subject-specific aptitude). Differences depend on the programme (B.Tech uses PCM/Bio weightage).
2024 Offline/OMR for many UG CETs; time 150–180 min (course dependent). 100–150 Qs reported in public analyses; sectional weightages highlighted in paper analyses. +4 /-1 commonly reported in exam analyses and prep sites. No major structural change vs 2023 in publicly available analyses — still MCQ-based and sectional.
2023 Pen-paper / CBT depending on the programme. Duration and format similar to later years. Previous year papers (BBA/BCA) show 100–150 MCQs; sectional pattern like English / Reasoning / GA / Subject. +4 /-1 reported in historical exam docs; sample papers match this. Preparatory portals published PYQs and sample papers; no major pattern overhaul reported.
2022 Similar: MCQ format, time 150 minutes (varied by course). Typical question counts reported around 100; some courses use 150 questions (subject dependent). +4 /-1 marking scheme noted in exam tutorials and official brochures. Section weightage and syllabus defined course-wise; IPU continued to publish course-wise syllabi.
2021 MCQ format, pen-paper/CBT variations; duration and marks similar to other years. Sources for 2021 show the same broad structure (100 Qs / 150 Qs depending on course). +4 /-1 widely used in exam analyses. No large structural changes reported publicly.
2020 MCQ-based CETs; pattern/course sections comparable to later years. Official IPU notices are the authoritative source. Same broad structure; use previous years’ papers for practice and pattern familiarity. +4 /-1 commonly mentioned across prep resources. Course-wise differences remain the norm.

Ques. Was the pattern of the IPU CET exam similar in 2020 to 2025?

Ans. Yes, IPU CET was largely similar in 2020-2025 in the form of MCQs with Sectional distribution and +4/-1c marking. Although the quantity and length of questions will differ according to the programme chosen (BBA, BCA, B.Tech Biotech, etc.). The overall structure of the exam remains largely similar.

Ques. How many questions are usually asked in the exam?

Ans. The total volume of questions varies depending on the programme, generally ranging between 100 and 150. For example, BBA/BCA papers contain 100 questions, or the B.Tech Biotech or any other technical programme contains 150 questions. Candidates should verify using the official year-specific PDF to avoid confusion.

IPU CET Question Pattern Trends

The exam showed consistent topic-level repetition rather than exact question repetition. PYQs help the candidate to prepare well, especially for subjects such as English grammar, reasoning, and general awareness.

Year Evidence of exact Q-repeats (PYQ : next year) Observed trend (topics repeated) Source notes
2025 Coaching & PYQ sites advise practising PYQs; some memory-based analyses noted few repeated concept-level questions, but no official “repeat count”. Topic-level repetition (similar concepts/questions on English grammar, basic reasoning, GA themes) rather than verbatim repeated sets. Memory-based analyses & PYQ repositories; not official IPU stats.
2024 Prep sites reported overlaps in question styles and topics; direct verbatim repeats uncommon. Emphasis on repeating question types (e.g., para-jumbles, data-interpretation patterns), not exact sentences. Exam analyses & coaching reports.
2023 PYQ compilations available; many students found practice with past papers helpful - suggests recurring themes. Recurring topics: comprehension passages, logical puzzles, basic numeric DI, and general awareness themes. PYQ sites and college prep blogs.
2022 No official claim of reused questions; coaching writeups note similar question templates across years. Repeated templates rather than verbatim reuse. Coaching & analysis portals.
2021–2020 Same pattern: past papers useful for practice; no official repeat-counts. Topic and template repetition is common (typical for many entrance tests). PYQ archives and prep articles.

Ques. Does IPU CET directly repeat previous year questions?

Ans. IPU CET does not repeat the exact questions of previous years very often. Rather, it tends to recycle ideas, formats and subject matters like grammar, logical puzzles and interpretation of data. The past year's question paper is also very good since it makes the students familiar with the patterns and types of questions that have a tendency to occur.

Ques. Are past year papers useful in IPU CET preparation?

Ans. Previous year papers are quite helpful since they emphasise the repetitive type of questions and the weight of the subject. Although precise questions are not regularly repeated, PYQ's familiarity with difficulty levels and time management is built up. Professionals suggest practising 5-7 years of papers to have good preparation knowledge.

IPU CET Eligibility Criteria 2026
