What is IIT JAM Application Form 2027?

IIT JAM 2027 Eligibility Criteria (Before You Apply)

Note for final-year students: If you are appearing for your final year exams in 2026–27, you can apply for IIT JAM 2027 and your admission will be provisional. You must present your complete final marksheet at the time of reporting to the institute and fulfil the minimum percentage requirement. Provisional admission is cancelled if the requirement is not met.

Note: Eligibility may vary slightly by institute and programme. IISc Bengaluru typically requires higher minimum marks (60% or 6.0 CGPA for General category) for its M.Sc. Research programmes. How to Fill IIT JAM Application Form 2027

The IIT JAM 2027 application process will be entirely online through the JOAPS (JAM Online Application Processing System) portal. The process is divided into two phases: new registration, followed by form filling, document upload, and fee payment. Follow the steps below when the application window opens in September 2026.

Phase 1: New Registration on JOAPS

1. Visit the official IIT JAM 2027 website (expected: jam2027.iitr.ac.in) and click "Online Application (JOAPS)" or "New Registration".
2. Enter your full name, date of birth, mobile number, and email ID — exactly as they appear on your Class 10 certificate and government-issued photo ID. Any mismatch will cause problems at the verification stage.
3. Enter your gender, nationality, and country of residence.
4. Verify your mobile number using the OTP sent via SMS. Your email ID will also receive a verification link — confirm it to activate your account.
5. After successful registration, you will receive your Enrolment ID (Application Number) and a system-generated password at your registered email address. Note down your Enrolment ID immediately — you will need it for all future JOAPS logins, admit card download, and counselling.
6. Log in to JOAPS using your Enrolment ID and the system password. Change your password at first login and keep it secure.

Phase 2: Fill the Application Form, Upload Documents, and Pay the Fee

1. Log in to the JOAPS portal with your Enrolment ID and password.
2. Fill in your personal details: name (exactly as on Class 10 certificate), date of birth, gender, nationality, and correspondence address.
3. Select your category: General, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, EWS, or PwD. Keep your category certificate ready before selecting — you will need to upload it.
4. Fill in your educational qualification details: name of qualifying degree, university or institute name, year of passing (or "Appearing" if in final year 2026–27), roll number / enrolment number, and aggregate percentage or CGPA.
5. Select your test paper(s) from the seven available: BT, CY, EC, GG, MA, MS, PH. You can choose a maximum of two test papers. If you choose two, verify from the official session schedule that they fall in different sessions (Morning 9:30 AM–12:30 PM and Afternoon 2:30 PM–5:30 PM). Papers in the same session cannot be combined.
6. Choose up to three exam city preferences for each test paper, in order of preference. You will be allotted one of your preferred cities based on seat availability at exam centres.

10. Pay the application fee online via Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI. The fee amount depends on your category and the number of test papers selected.
11. Download and save the confirmation page (PDF) immediately after successful fee payment. This is your proof of application — keep both a digital backup and a printed copy safe.

Note: Submit only one application form for IIT JAM 2027. If multiple applications are detected from the same student, all of them are rejected without any refund of the fee.

Documents Required for IIT JAM Application Form 2027

Prepare all documents in digital format before you start filling the IIT JAM 2027 application form. The JOAPS system will reject files that exceed the maximum size or are in an unsupported format — keep scans clean, well-lit, and within the limits below.

Note: Upload a recent passport-size photograph taken after January 1, 2026, with a white background and 80% of your face clearly visible. Do not upload edited, filtered, studio-retouched, or collage photographs — these are rejected during document scrutiny. A mismatch between your uploaded photo and your appearance at the exam centre can result in disqualification from the exam.

Check all uploaded documents before final submission — once the correction window closes, no further changes are accepted under any circumstances.

IIT JAM Application Fee 2027

The IIT JAM 2027 application fee is expected to be similar to the JAM 2026 structure set by IIT Bombay. The exact fee for 2027 will be confirmed in the official notification by IIT Roorkee. The fee structure differs by category and by the number of test papers you select.

Payment accepted via: Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, and UPI — all through the JOAPS payment gateway. No offline payment (cheque, demand draft, or cash) is accepted at any stage. The payment gateway opens only after you complete all mandatory sections of the application form.

Note: The IIT JAM 2027 application fee is non-refundable under any circumstances — even if your form is found ineligible after scrutiny, your application is cancelled, or you do not appear for the exam on exam day.

Note: If your online payment fails, do not make a fresh payment immediately. Wait 48–72 hours for the debited amount to be automatically reversed to your account. Only retry after confirming the reversal. If a double deduction occurs, contact the IIT JAM 2027 helpdesk (expected: jam2027@iitr.ac.in) with your Enrolment ID and bank transaction reference within 7 days.

The application fee is non-refundable — even if you withdraw your application or do not appear for the IIT JAM 2027 exam.

IIT JAM 2027 will offer a form correction window for a limited period after registration closes — typically during the first or second week of November 2026. 6. Download and save the revised confirmation page immediately after submitting corrections — the updated PDF replaces your original confirmation and is the authoritative record of your application.
