  • Minimum Qualifying Marks: General Category: 45%, OBC Category: 42%, SC/ST/PwD Categories: 40% 
  • Appearance in Class 12: Candidates who are appearing for their Class 12 exams in the year of the AILET exam are also eligible to apply. 
  • Age Limit: There is no age limit for appearing in the AILET exam. 
  • Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens or foreign nationals. 
  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 10+2 (Class 12) or equivalent examination.

AILET Eligibility LLB Program
  • Candidates with a minimum of 50% aggregate will be qualified for the admission process strictly based on the merit of the AILET 2026.
  • The university has granted 70 seats for the 5-year B.A.LLB program.
  • The candidates appearing in 12 standard examinations in the current year, can also apply for the AILET 2026 respectively. NLU, Delhi has withdrawn the age criteria for the students qualifying for the examination.

Reservation Criteria

  • Accordingly, there are 15% seats reserved for the SC category, 7.5% for the ST & 5% horizontal reservation for the Person with Disabilities.
  • The university offers one additional supernumerary seat for Kashmiri Migrants & two additional supernumerary seats for Residents of Jammu & Kashmir.

AILET Eligibility Criteria 2026: LLM Program

  • Candidates with 50% marks (45% marks for SC/ST/PwD) in their LLB or equivalent law degree are eligible for LLM. 
  • Candidates appearing for LLB in their present year can also apply for the AILET 2026 Exam.
  • The University grants 80 seats to the candidates (70 seats on the basis of the Merit List through the All India Law Entrance Test and 10 seats for direct admission to Foreign Nationals on merit)

The admissions under foreign nationals shall be made on the following basis:

  • The academic record of L.L.B or an equivalent degree recognized by the UGC/ Association of Indian Universities with 55% marks or equivalent grade.
  • Assessment of communication skills in written and spoken English and performance in the interview in terms of aptitude and capacity.

Reservation Criteria

  • The Candidates in SC have 15% of seats reserved, 7.5% for ST, and 5% for horizontal reservation for the candidates of Persons with Disabilities.
  • NLU, Delhi reserves one supernumerary seat for the Kashmiri Migrants.

A total number of 8 seats are offered for AILET 2026 Ph.D. program for Indian nationals. 2 Seats for direct admission to Foreign Nationals on the merit of evaluation of Research Proposals. It is necessary for candidates to comply with below mentioned eligibility criteria seeking admission to Ph.D. course.

AILET Exam Eligibility Criteria 2026 for Ph.D. candidates

  1. The candidate is required to provide LLM degree with 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST/PwD).
  2. One thing the candidate should keep in mind that the admission in NLU, Delhi will be strictly merit-based, i.e. Performance of the candidate in AILET 2026.
  3. UGC NET/ JRF, SLET, and M.Phil. are exempted from taking the entrance test.
  4. Qualified candidates have to submit a research proposal and after its scrutiny, only those candidates whose proposal is approved by the Scrutiny Committee will make a presentation before the Doctoral Committee on the proposal topic of research on a date notified by the University.
