Fees and Financial Aid

Iam paying 70000 for whole year which can be also paid sem wise ,35k per each sem. I got concession due to my 12th marks but normal fees for biotech stream includes 90k.The whole bus expenses for an year include 40k.Registration and admission fees include 10k which gets later deducted from our fees when we join there .Other than this,no extra fees is being collected except for sem exam fees which includes 500/- for a subject .The over all fees structure is very very affordable in this college.

Faculty

The faculty present here are mostly phd scholars and eligible professors. The teachers are friendly to all the students and support well. They are very approachable. In my department, there are 20 teachers and total students are 200. For every sem, they conduct 3 exams before the finals and then there are sem exams . The class tests marks are added to fina exam marks too.The tests will be easy and nobody mostly fail.If they fail, they conduct re test to them.

Remarks

I chose SRM University for my UG because of my course. Genetic engineering is not a widely found course in India. SRM had a good reputation for my course in terms of faculty and laboratory. I gained admission in SRM through SRM JEE. I enrolled in the campus soon after with my class commencing in July 18 2016. I came across SRM University from a relative who?Ûªd studied there. I combed the university website for this course and understood the course details before applying for the course. The only aspect I feel that the university could improve on is the core placements in biotechnology. Even though a few companies come for placements, it?Ûªs not many. However as most students pursue a PG after this degree, I do believe that this a subjective matter.

Course Curriculum Overview

While I m not really sure on the faculty : student ratio, our department had about 25 faculty for 110 or more students. All the teachers are highly qualified with PHDs and post docs from prestigious universities. The main teaching method is through PowerPoint presentation and normal chalk board presentation. A few of the classes however had few practical aspects too. The term exams were always conducted in proper time with the result being published within a month. The exams were not hard to pass considering you have good internals.

Course Curriculum Overview

I was interested in Genetic Engineering as its scope in the coming future is really high. The faculty-student ratio is around 60:1. For practical it's 15:1. Almost all the faculties are PhD professors from well-known universities. You can expect exams every month. There will be 3 cycle tests and model practicals and then the semester.

Campus Life

The campus life is awesome. There are 2 fests: 1. AARUSH - TECH FEST and MILAN- CULTURAL FEST. Other than that you have a well accessible library, wi-fi campus, basketball, football, NCC, cricket grounds etc. You will get KFC, DOMINOS, MCDONALDS nearer to the campus.

Remarks

Bharath is an very old well established institute, it has great reviews as it helps the students by giving financial aid and scholarships. It has various courses available in single campus and also they are education driven. They don't compromise the quality of education.

College Events

Bharath has less of Extra curricular activities and more of studies and examination. One cannot enjoy here.either enjoy or study. Its a good place for the people who are very serious about studies. In between some science fair, seminars and some competitions take place.

Placement Experience

The placements are good for CSE department but for us. They get good opportunities but they don't make full use of it by not taking it seriously which is why only few students end up with placements in hand at the end of the final semester. Average salary package- 3-6 lakh pa.

College Events

The extra curricular activities are very less here. Only NCC and NSS work properly. No facilities for sports and other activities like dance and music. No support from the management for these things. Campus life becomes a bore without any fests or annual functions.

College Events

For me the campus life is average. people don't socialize much with each other. Teachers are friendly though but the students who came with the impression that no study only fun they might be disappointed. Acdemics are in the focus of the management and faculties. Not much extra curricular activities, on some occasions they take some students for some visit related to studies.the selection is totally random if the visit is about something general. No sports here.

Placement Experience

Talking about placements, Bharat doesn't have a very good name in this. Even after focusing so much on acdemics only few students get placed. For a student, everything is essential, extra curricular activities build up the personality but the management doesn't give much attention to it. But now slowly and gradually they are starting few clubs and organizing events. Overall placement rate is less.

Course Curriculum Overview

As i was very much interested in genetics so i find the syllabus perfect, it covers almost all topics required for a full knowledge of the course. Also the syllabus is updated and strictly followed. The faculties are good and well learnt, very experienced in their fields. They help us out at each hard point. The academic result is overall good.

College Events

Talking about campus life then it's normal. it's not so fun filled unless you make it. Depends on you how you live there. since I'm a day scholar i enjoy and make most of the time. There are no extracurricular activities in college. In between they would arrange few educational seminars and related science fair and some competition among clubs.

Course Curriculum Overview

The syllabus is well updated and posted on the College website. The course is very much interesting and new. It has great scope in future. The academics are good, can't complain much. Like all colleges there are some extremely good faculties, some average and some below average.

College Events

The campus life is average and not like how we think of College. They are very strict in discipline and dress code. Mostly educational events take place and first years are avoided most of the time as they don't want them to get involved with seniors. Campus is ragging free.

Remarks

The first factor is that i don't have to go to other place to study as genetic engineering is available in Chennai. I joined Bharath University because I wanted to a part of such an institution that gives opportunity to every student to pursue what they like, they make it happen for them as the fees is really affordable.

Course Curriculum Overview

I find this course attractive and interesting because it has a huge scope in future. I want to become a scientist so I'm not looking for job after 4 years. The academics as of now are average. I'll get to know more when the core subjects start. Teachers have been very kind and helpful till now.

The course syllabus is updated and I think the way the syllabus is set is amazing. They will also provide us elective and non major subject towards the final year. The faculties are very very experienced and guide us without any hesitation. Prepare us well for the exams, give us all the necessary study materials.

College Events

There are very less extra curricular activities, there's no proper ground for playing. They just have one basketball court and alongside a small ground which is not maintained well. The campus life is not much for a day scholar. Some seminars, and clubs activities do happen sometimes.

Ques. Is biotech better than mechanical engineering?

● Top Answer By Rohan Yadav on 05 Apr 24

Ans. While choosing an engineering branch you should consider your career goals, interests and inclination. Both these branches have different scope and objectives. Mechanical engineering deals with designing and manufacturing mechanical systems, and Biotech combines Biology and Technology for development in areas like healthcare, agriculture, and environmental conservation. It is important for you to go through the curriculum of both these branches to decide which one better suits your interests and long term goals. Mechanical will offer you job opportunities in the automotive, aerospace, energy, robotics, and manufacturing sector. After Biotech you can work in the Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, and agricultural sector. It is up to you to analyze the potential and market demand for both these branches.  If you are skilled in Maths, Physics, Problem-solving, and Design, you can opt for Mechanical. On the other hand, Biotechnology requires an understanding of Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Lab Techniques, and Data Analysis. Biotechnology is constantly making new innovations in fields like genetic engineering, drug development, and bioprocessing. This choice is highly subjective, and completely depends upon your own interest. Both these fields are making rapid progress in their own manner. You have to ultimately decide which one is more in line with your own aspirations.Read more
