The faculty-to student ratio is very bad. There are a limited no. of teachers and a vast amount of students. Although, some teachers are decent, you won't find it in you to approach them. Although, there were some very very good teachers also, but a few. They would go to no extent to come to your level of understanding and explain anything. Rather, they already expect you to know everything. Again, few teachers are exceptions as I said. The exams are the worst part. Although the colleges is only responsible for 20 marks across subject, for the rest CU conducts the exam. I would like to mention CU is the worst university to study from. There is absoultely no amount of money that can convince me to study from CU again. The difficulty level is the highest across India and their scoring system is supe random. You can fail in your strongest subject and pass in a subject where you wrote nothing in exam. I myself saw almost everyone fail in a subject and those who passed only got 12-20 marks out of 40. No one got more than 20. It was said that CU forgot to check other half ot the paper. However there was no accountability and explaination from university part.

Campus Life

The infrastucture is quite modest. There were common room, gym, labs of all sorts and a canteen. It was mostly always filled with people associated with College Union, I hardly ever got to use it. There was a shop available inside the college for all the books and stationary needs. The library was the best part. It was big and air conditioned. Most students spent their most time in Library only. Almost every book for every subject was present. So never got the requirement to buy any book from outside apart from one or two books. There was no event happenning apart from fresher party, which also was quite irregular in my time(Covid). Teachers day, Holi and Farewell party was there. Sports was quite exclusive. Sports events always happened outside the college as there was no big ground inside the college. You had to reach out to the sports team and be in a quite a close acquaintance with them to be included in those. There is also NCC in the college. I found that to be very good as I joined.

Course Curriculum Overview

My?interest in the subject led me to choose Accountancy in Sreerampore college. The Accountancy curriculum is well-structured, covering Accountancy, Macroeconomics, Business Studies, Costing and Taxation, commercial Law, Development?Economics, and Econometrics, but a little more practical application would have been good. The professors are qualified, the attitude of the course is fun, however, this cannot be said about all?of them, some of them are struggling of lecturing in a classical way. Exams are on time, but?easy, although mathematical subjects are more difficult. Assessments should be more frequent but that could lead towards more presence in?the industry. These seminars and?guest lectures add to the learning experience. A good program overall, though it could be better with more?interaction and practical skills.

Placement Experience

I have looked for internships which are available through my college. The college has business ties with several companies that provide internships in finance, marketing, IT, and research. Some companies pay stipends which depend on the position and the performance of the intern. TCS and WIPRO, along with some local companies, have openings for data analysts, digital marketers, and content writers. The intern’s project work includes modeling finances, conducting market studies, and developing computer programs. Interns perform research, data collection, management, and planning.

Course Curriculum Overview

There are several important aspects of the curriculum that influenced me to choose the path of finance and accounting such as money making, investing and saving. These are the main pillar besides the teaching method of the professors such as giving real life relatable examples to make the topics more relevant and intereating. However, the teaching equipments are outdated as using conventional balckboard and chalks while not using smartclass method.

Faculty

The ratio of the faculty to student is 1:8 that means there is one professor for every eight students that provided us to the opportunity for gaining personal mentorship. The pattern of the exams are like one unit test and semester exams for each semester for three years and before that an examination fees of ?600-800 had taken.

The sports and other activities is very astonishing I've been a carrom player and football player and we participated in Many tournaments like Reliance cup . I've been elected as a sports president in my college and it does help me getting many opportunities in sports quota and government quota

Faculty

The faculty and students ratio i guess its 10/7 they indeed understand our problems and later they help us out . I liked Dr Rashmi she is a good teacher she teaches in a very effective manner easily to understand . In my eyes Dr rashmi and Dr mozzam nazri is good. The faculty i don't like is Aftab sir because he doesn't supported me . There are 6 semester in bcom hons before the 4 year rule of graduation implemented and the exams are hard but somehow everyone done good estimated ratio students passed is around 10/7

Ques. What is IGNOU Bcom A&F degree for CA students? What are the advantages and disadvantages of doing it?

● Top Answer By Devlina Mukherjee on 10 Nov 20

Ans. Chartered Accountancy is an altogether dynamic profession that allows individuals to exercise their acumen in the areas of accounting, auditing, corporate finance, and corporate governance. To provide greater support to such a multifaceted program, IGNOU has brought up a special course named B.Com Accounting & Finance degree for CA students. The details about the program are as follows. Admission: The program can be completed within a minimum period of 3 years while the registration stands valid for 6 years. No re-registration fees are required. For students who have cleared the first stage of CA, the time will be automatically reduced. The fee structure for the program is as follows. Indian Students Rs. 7200 Foreign Students From SAARC Countries- Rs. 11000 From Non-SAARC Countries- US $ 1000 The fee is payable along with the application form and is appropriately valid for 3 years. Eligibility: The mandatory criterion stands at 10+2 or equivalent. Candidates who passed the common proficiency test from ICAI are also eligible. Candidates passed or registered in professional competence courses: are also eligible. Program Structure: The program is credit-based and consists of 96 credits whereby 32 credits are provided by IGNOU while 64 credits are given to ICAI. IGNOU provides 6 courses from the entire curriculum and it is exercised properly through the IGNOU system. Program Resources: The course is delivered both in Hindi & English. Printed course material is provided to candidates through their respective mediums. A/v sessions are also provided. Evaluation Criterion: The evaluation is done similar to other courses by consolidating the marks obtained in different parts by the individual. The score obtained in 4 parts will be added to determine your division. Advantages: The major merit that underlies this course is that the individual will be exposed to a dual degree after completion of the course. The degree itself is from IGNOU fosters a full reputation and goodwill. The time limit is also quite flexible. IGNOU adds its special facilities to the coursework. Disadvantages: The eligibility criterion is the mandatory qualification of CPE. CA performance gets linked with degree performance. 6 subjects provided by IGNOU are theoretical leading to certain problems for individuals preferring practical subjects. Institute Of Chartered Accountants & Indira Gandhi National Open University has entered into an arrangement to make this course more domain-specific & market-ready. However, the choice to pursue it or not rests with the candidate.Read more

● Top Answer By Kashish Yaduvanshi on 31 Mar 23

Ans. Some basic details of the BCom program from SRM Institute of Science and Technology are  Particulars  Data Duration 3 years Course Level UG Degree Total Tuition Fees INR 3.90 Lakh Total Seats 130 Qualification  12th CBSE Entry Criteria 50%  Candidates must have passed in 10+2 (Accountancy & Commerce Mandatory) with mentioned marks from any recognised board. Median CTC  INR 2.5 Lakh Highest CTC  INR 41.6 Lakh Top Recruiters  ACCENTURE | Biocon | canon | DATA PATTERNS | GODREJ | HONEYWELL | just dial | Samsung | Tech Mahindra Some more details about the University are Infrastructure : The college has decent infrastructural facilities with great importance to sports and extracurricular activities Academics : Honestly, this is where the Institute lacks. The staff delivers robotic knowledge without any lively classroom discussions making the learning experience monotonous. Placements : The placement cell of the college works pretty hard to maintain a decent placement scenario and students with good academic performance usually get good packages.  ROI: Another aspect I feel one should consider is the ROI which is low in case of SRM. The fees are extremely high in comparison to the academic standards but the surety of placements makes people choose it anyway. Campus Life : You get to experience amazing college life with lots of creative activities and new things to learn. Ultimately it’s you who decides whether a certain college is right for you or not, so do your part of the research and make a wise decision.Read more
