The faculty are very helpful and kind to the student.There is a very good coding culture.You will get exposure to everything what sports ,extra-curricular activity etc.
The senoirs are very co-operative and eager to help us if we reach out to them regarding any problem irrespective of its type-be it academic or something else
The camps is absolutely Ragging free,there is anti-ragging squard made of faculty ,seniors and student which look after this

Dislikes

The campus is very big that's why there are bushes everywhere,it is difficult to maintain it....
As it is a government college and it is quiet a old college so the buildings are old but the infrastructure is good
There are so many clubs approx 31,so you will definately get confused

I applied to a few other government engineering colleges but i ended up choosing JGEC.The main reasons: JGEC is a well established,fully government owned autonomous college,with good accreditation.It also has a long history since 1961,which made me trust its academic environment.Compared to other colleges i applied to ,JGEC felt more stable and credible.It also has a reasonable structure and good campus infrastructure,labs and oppurtunities for intership .There is also a good scope for higher studies like GATE.The marks vs rank went extremely high in WBJEE 2025.That's why i didn't get a college i applied for which is near my home. You can take admission by giving WBJEE and JELET only.As it is a government college you can only take admission if you get a good rank .There is also different cut-offs for diff catagory.The overall admission process is was very smooth and systematic.

A Deep Dive into JGEC

The weather is so much better , as the college is little away and not so far from the main city the pollution is lesser.

Dislikes

The college is low maintained as the campus is so big.

Admission:

I did applied for the Jadavpur University but I didn't get an opportunity there . But it was my and my father's wish that I study near my home and as JGEC is not so far from my home I confirmed the seat here. Our college takes admission through WBJEE exam which held every year in april end or March and then we have counseling process then we have verification process in our college and there after within 1 month we have our classes .

The alumni base of college which helps college to grow more.
The placement opportunity and visiting of mass recruiters to college.
Different types of clubs in different domain like drama club, dance club, sports club, coding club, cyber security club, music club etc

Dislikes

There is no sports facility for girls student from college.
The infrastructure of college is not upto mark as college is very old.
The average package of college is bit low.

Admission:

I previously applied for kalyani government engineering college but it's decreasing placement opportunity made me to not choose this college. To get into this college we have to write wbjee examination and after securing good rank in it, you get this college through wbjee counsellation.

Our college has really good alumni base connection which can help you with real life job issues and placements
Some of the professors are highly qualified who can help you get internships and research projects.
The environment of the college is really good and green.

Dislikes

The buildings and infrastructure is not in a very good state as the college is very old
The labs are not very advanced which could be made better.
College campus is open even for the locals and also has two other Colleges

Admission:

According to my West Bengal joint entrance examination rank I said for the counselling in the first round I got Kalyani Government Engineering College with IT department but that was with the reservation under EWS quota with rank 2869. As I was not able to get me EWS certificate my admission there was cancelled and then according to my preference I got Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College with electronic and communication engineering department. The admission process was quite easy I went to the college for the PI reporting in the college. There were guide teachers who helped us throughout the admission process which was completely online and I got admission in the second round.

A DECENT REVIEW FOR JGEC

Likes

Clubs activities are very good. There are so many clubs like coder club, CFI and SASC for robotics and others exporation . Sky watching season is conducted by SAAC. Cyber Security club is also very good
College campus is very very impressive. You can see Kanchanjungha from our campus. And in the Spring , it's like awsome
Every occasion is fullfilled very great fully. Fests are awesome. There are 2 fests 1 Shristi the Tech fest and JECLAT the cultural fest

Dislikes

In the hostel , Food quality is not so good. If you are veg, then its a problem.
Infrastructure is old and all equipments are not available.
A little few facility available near the college. If you want , you have to go Kadamtala which is 3.2 km form college

Admission:

I have only applied for JU . And after decentralized, I got Civil Branch in Ju but I didn't go there because I want to study in non core and also I didn't want to shift from Jalpaiguri. In my college I got EE branch and In Mop up I got ECE. In my time can apply for both 2nd round and Mop Up round.

Must be a 12 pass or a having a diploma degree for lateral entry. Cutoff is highly increasing day-by-day so an aspirant must aim for scoring good marks in entrance exam to acquire a seat in this college.

Admission process through west bengal joint entrance examination. Application from find wbjee website in December month. Application fees variation in regional category and gender . Exam procedure in 200 marks exam mathematics 100 marks and physics + chemistry 100 marks. Time per session 2 hours.

My good college JGEC !

Likes

Love my green campus and the pleasant weather.
Placement is decent enough with good opportunities.
Clubs are good too, with a lot of things to explore.

Dislikes

The infrastructure of the college is not good enough.
The course fees is twice as that of CSE and other non core branches.
The curriculum could have been updated for greater relevancy.

Admission:

I took admission through WBJEE entrance exam. I got a rank of 3319 and got ECE branch in the second round. Later in decentralisation counseling, I got IT branch. I didn't like the eligibility of mop counseling this year which affected many individuals as they didn't want to take the risk of losing their seat if they didn't got any seat in the mop up round
