CIT MBA FAQs
Ques. Is the MBA Airport & Airlines Management at ChinTech Kannur a recognised degree, and will it be accepted by aviation companies for jobs?
Ans. Yes, the MBA (Airport & Airlines Management) at ChinTech is a full-time postgraduate degree affiliated to Kannur University and approved by AICTE. The degree is recognised by the UGC and is accepted by employers in the aviation sector. Kannur University is a statutory university established under the Government of Kerala, and its degrees are valid for employment in both public and private sector aviation companies. Students have been placed in companies such as UAE Exchange, Fragomen, and other service sector firms through campus placements. For specific airline or airport operator roles, candidates may also need to clear company-specific aptitude or technical rounds in addition to holding the MBA degree.
Ques. What is the difference between the Airport & Airlines Management specialisation and a general MBA at ChinTech? Is the curriculum aviation-specific?
Ans. The MBA (Airport & Airlines Management) follows the Kannur University syllabus, which includes aviation-specific subjects such as airport operations, airline management, cargo and ground handling, aviation regulations, and travel management, in addition to core MBA subjects like marketing, finance, HR, and operations. The general MBA specialisations (Finance, HR, Marketing, etc.) do not include these aviation-specific papers. So if you are specifically targeting a career in the aviation or travel industry, this specialisation gives you a focused curriculum advantage. The core management subjects are common across all MBA specialisations at ChinTech.
Ques. Does ChinTech Kannur have a hostel facility? Is it mandatory for MBA students?
Ans. ChinTech does have hostel facilities on campus. Hostel accommodation is optional and not mandatory for MBA students. The hostel fee is approximately Rs. 34,800 per semester, which is separate from the tuition fee. Students who are local or can arrange their own accommodation in Kannur city typically opt out of the hostel. The campus is located at Govindagiri, Chala, Thottada, Kannur, which is accessible from the city. Students interested in hostel accommodation should confirm availability and current charges directly with the institute at the time of admission, as hostel seats may be limited.
Ques. I have a CAT score but it is not very high. Will ChinTech Kannur still consider my application for MBA admission?
Ans. Yes, ChinTech Kannur does not have a strict minimum CAT percentile cutoff for admission. The selection is based on a composite merit that includes your qualifying degree marks, entrance exam score (KMAT Kerala / CAT / CMAT), Group Discussion performance, and Personal Interview score. Since ChinTech is a Kannur University-affiliated college and not an IIM or top-tier B-school, even moderate CAT scores are considered alongside your overall academic profile. Many students who have appeared in KMAT Kerala (the state-level exam) are also admitted. If your CAT score is low, a strong academic record and a good performance in the GD-PI round can compensate. Alternatively, you can appear in KMAT Kerala Session 2 (expected May-June 2026) to strengthen your application.
Ques. What are the career prospects after completing MBA Airport & Airlines Management from ChinTech Kannur? What kind of companies recruit from this programme?
Ans. Graduates of the MBA (Airport & Airlines Management) programme can pursue careers in airport operations, airline ticketing and reservations, ground handling, cargo management, travel and tourism management, and aviation consultancy. ChinTech's placement cell has facilitated placements with companies such as Amazon, KPMG, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, UAE Exchange, Fragomen, Cognizant, Flipkart, Aditya Birla Group, Mathrubhumi, Malayala Manorama, and others. For aviation-specific roles, graduates often target airlines (Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet), airport operators (AAI, GMR, GVK), and ground handling companies. The growing aviation sector in Kerala, with Kannur International Airport being operational nearby, also provides local employment opportunities.
Ques. Can I apply for the MBA at ChinTech Kannur without a KMAT or CAT score? Is there any direct admission process?
Ans. No, ChinTech Kannur does not offer direct admission to the MBA programme without a valid entrance exam score. As per Kannur University and AICTE norms, admission to MBA requires a qualifying score in KMAT Kerala, CAT, or CMAT. There is no management quota or donation-based admission at ChinTech; the institute explicitly states that all seats are merit-based. If you have not yet appeared in any of these exams, you can register for KMAT Kerala Session 2 (expected April-May 2026) or CMAT, and apply to ChinTech with those scores. The institute's admission portal (admission.chintech.ac.in) remains open through the admission season, so you can apply once you have a valid score in hand.
