Indira Institute of Management Pune: Admission 2026, Fees, Courses, Cutoff, Ranking, Placement

My sister did her bachelor’s degree in engineering from MIT and MBA from Indira Institute of Management. So, I have some ideas about both the institutes. 

Among the above institutes, Indira Institute of Management is much better than MIT SOM for a management degree, considering the overall development of students in Indira Institute of Management. 

The table below gives a comparison of the institutes.

Comparison:

• MIT is considered to be one of the best colleges for B.Tech in Pune. But MIT School of Management is not up to the standard of the Indira Institute of Management.
• MBA in Indira Institute of Management has a much better curriculum and infrastructure for the overall development of its students.
• Indira Institute of Management conducts an excellent soft-skill program, which includes life problem solving, consulting selling, negotiation skills, etc in the MBA curriculum, which is very helpful for students.

Considering the above factors, it is safe to say Indira Institute of Management is a much better option for MBA or PGPM than MIT SOM, with an overall better placement record.

Both Indira Institute of Management and RIIM is revered among the reputed PGDM institutes in Pune and are AICTE approved.

Admission:

Indira Institute of Management- IIMP offers two specializations under PGDM, i.e. Marketing and Finance. The total course fee is 7.2 lakhs.

• Admission to PGDM courses in IIMP is based on CAT, MAT, CMAT, GMAT scores.
• For the final selection, the institute conducts GD and PI.

RIIM, Pune- It offers a full-time PGDM program in marketing, finance, and HR. PGDM at RIIM costs around 6 lakhs.

• The entrance exam scores accepted for admission are CAT, MAT, MHCET.
• Shortlisted students also need to go through GD and PI in order to get admission.

Placements: Companies recruiting from IIMP are ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Asian Paints, Bridge Group Solutions, MakerBot, Federal Bank, Deloitte, etc. Whereas, major recruiters at RIIM are Amazon, Flipkart, Deloitte, Wipro, Capgemini, Paytm, Swiggy, CCD, ITC, Future Group, Pantaloons, Bose, Khadims, JK Tyre, Tech Mahindra, Byju's, Amul, Oppo.

The overall curriculum at RIIM is also overhauled on a regular basis and encompasses both the theoretical and practical domains of the course. The overall academic structure at RIIM is much better as compared to Indira Institute.

Between IIMP and RIIM Pune, the latter is the better choice as it offers a better ROI and has tie-ups with premier management institutes like IIM for their certification programs.

Over the years, RIIM has made astonishing leaps and stands among the top 5 ranked business schools in Pune.

For MBA in HR both RIIM, Pune, and Indira Institute of Management are good options. Both the institutes are AICTE approved.

Admission:

The entrance examinations accepted for MBA admission at both the institutes are CAT/XAT/MAT/CMAT/MHCET. For final selection, Group Discussion and Personal Interviews are conducted.

The course fee for MBA at RIIM and IIMP is 7.2 lakhs and 4.4 lakhs.

Placements: Both the institute offers similar placement opportunities for MBA HR. The salary package received by the students of this specialization ranges between 5-6 lakhs at both the institutes.

Major recruiters at RIIM are Oppo, Kohler, Paytm, etc. Whereas, the top recruiters at IIMP are ICICI Bank, Mother Dairy, Amazon, etc.

RIIM takes a lesser number of students for the MBA in HR as compared to the Indira Institute of Management so that every individual gets proper attention for intellectual and logical growth. The placement rate is also higher in RIIM compared to the Indira Institute of Management.

RIIM also has a special training program for its students. 500+ hours for Advance Employability and Leadership Development Program and two weeks residential management development program from IIM Indore with 6 certifications.

Indira Institute of Management Pune is one of the best colleges in India. It has been ranked 28 overall by TOI 2020. It offers full-time PGDM, MBA, BBA, and Ph.D. degrees.

Whereas, Sri Balaji University is ranked one of the top private B-Schools in Maharashtra in terms of ROI by Outlook. PGDM, Executive PGDM, BA LLB, BBA, BCom are the popular courses offered by the institute.

Admission:

• At IIMP BBA admission is merit-based. Whereas, admission for MBA and PGDM is based on CAT/MAT/XAT/CMAT/GMAT scores.
• PGDM admission is based on a valid score in CAT/MAT/XAT/CMAT or MAH-CET. Admission to law programs is based on MH CET Law at Sri Balaji University.

Placement:

95% of students get placed in SBUP. IIMP also has a good placement rate. Some of the major recruiters at IIMP areICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Asian Paints, Bridge Group Solutions, MakerBot, Federal Bank, Deloitte, etc. Whereas, the recruiters at SBUP are Cognizant, TOYOTA, Coca-cola, Emerson, Vedanta, Dara Shaw, HCL, Larsen & Toubro, etc.

Both the institutes are well-reputed and offer decent placements. However, in terms of various rankings and corporate exposure SBUP has a slight edge over IIMP..

Times Pro offers a 2-year MBA program in Banking and Financial Services in two ways. One in collaboration with Bennett University, Greater Noida while the other in partnership with Ajeenkya DY Patil University, Pune. The institute is a subsidiary of one of India's largest media conglomerates, Times of India. It uses its vast connection with Corporate Partners to upskill its students and provides them with real-world work experience.

• The total fee for MBA at Bennett University is Rs. 7,05,000 excluding hostel and other charges. More than 90% students get placed with reputed companies like Bajaj Capital, Tata Capital, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, Aditya Birla Capital, Deloitte, and many more.
• The total fee for MBA at Ajeenkya DY Patil University is Rs. 7,10,000 excluding hostel and other charges. More than 90% of students get placed. The top recruiters are Fullerton India, HSBC, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Standard Chartered, City Union Bank Ltd. and many more.

Indira Institute of Management, Pune offers an MBA in Financial Management. Students doing their post-graduation from this university have a broader scope as they are more flexible in choosing their career paths. Here summer training, live projects, winter internships, and industry visits, etc. are all part of the curriculum.

• The fees for this program is about Rs. 2,20,000 per year excluding hostel and other charges. The cost varies according to the reservation policy. There is a 50 percent tuition fee concession for OBC students. And 100 percent tuition fee concession for SC/ST students.
• For the year 2019-2020, the highest package offered was 13.8 LPA. The average package offered was 5.2 LPA. The top recruiters were:Federal Bank, Makebot, HDFC Bank, Deloitte, Asian Paints, ITC, and many more.

PUMBA and Indira Institute of Management both offer post-graduation courses. The number of courses offered by PUMBA is more than the latter.

Indira Institute of Management offers a PGDM course in two specializations: Marketing and Finance.

• The fees for PGDM in Indira Institute of Management is about Rs. 3,60,000 per year and for MBA is about Rs. 2,00,000 per year.
• For the year 2019-20, the highest package offered to a student of Indira Institute of Management is 13.8 LPA. The average package offered was 5.2 LPA.
• Some of the past recruiters were: Federal Bank, HDFC Bank, Deloitte, Asian Paints, ITC, ICICI Bank, and many more.

PUMBA offers a few more courses other than those offered by the Indira Institute of Management. The other courses it offers are Ph.D., Executive MBA, and MBA in Pharma Biotech.

• The fees for the MBA are about Rs. 66,194 per year. The fees for Ph.D. in Management Studies are about Rs. 14,571 per year and for an Executive MBA, it is about Rs. 76,594 per year.
• For the year 2018-19, 96.25% of students got job offers through campus placement. The highest CTC offered was 16.5 LPA. The average CTC offered was 6.43 LPA. The average CTC of the top 50% of students was 7.6 LPA.
• The top recruiters were Citibank, Federal Bank, Bajaj Allianz, HDFC Bank, Infosys, Tata Capital and many more.
