Fees and Financial Aid:
Most public state universities will have some "scholarships up their sleeves". To be more specific, what does "better" mean "Rank" is a relative term. Plus or minus 5 on the US News Annual Report doesn't really amount to much, if you think about it. When it comes to "better", you should think in practical terms, i.e., what matters to you. Does the better-ranked college have a much stronger department for your major do the professors care about the students? How is the weather? The food? The social life? This is the next four years of your life we're talking about. If you still think the higher ranked college is better, then also ask yourself: Will your eventual job be able to pay off the college debt? (And if so, in how many years.
