MMCRI B.Sc. (Nursing) FAQs
Ques. What KCET rank is required to get B.Sc. Nursing admission at MMCRI Mysore?
Ans. MMCRI is a government medical college with a strong reputation, and its B.Sc. Nursing seats are highly sought after. Based on KCET 2024 cutoff trends, a rank within the top 5,000-10,000 in the General category is typically required for government quota seats at MMCRI. SC/ST candidates may get admission with higher ranks due to reservation benefits. With the seat intake now expanded to 250, competition may ease slightly for the 2026 batch.
Ques. Is hostel stay compulsory for B.Sc. Nursing students at MMCRI?
Ans. No. RGUHS has clearly directed all affiliated nursing colleges, including MMCRI, not to make hostel stay compulsory or forcefully collect hostel fees. Students can choose to be day scholars. However, hostel facilities are available on campus at nominal charges (Rs. 12,000/year for room rent + mess charges) for those who wish to stay.
Ques. Is the B.Sc. (Nursing) degree from MMCRI recognized for government jobs and abroad?
Ans. Yes. The B.Sc. (Nursing) degree from MMCRI is affiliated to RGUHS and approved by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and Karnataka Nursing Council (KNC). This makes it fully recognized for government nursing jobs in India (including central and state government hospitals, armed forces, railways, etc.) and also eligible for registration in many countries abroad, including the UK, UAE, Canada, and Australia, subject to respective country licensing requirements.
Ques. What is the total cost of completing B.Sc. Nursing at MMCRI including hostel?
Ans. The tuition fee for the entire 4-year program is just Rs. 40,000. If you opt for hostel, the room rent is approximately Rs. 12,000 per year (Rs. 48,000 for 4 years) and mess charges are approximately Rs. 4,000-4,500 per month. The total cost including hostel and mess over 4 years would be approximately Rs. 2.5 to 3 lakh. Without hostel, the total cost including university exam fees and other charges would be approximately Rs. 60,000-72,000 for the entire course.
Ques. Can non-Karnataka students apply for B.Sc. Nursing at MMCRI?
Ans. Non-Karnataka students can apply for KCET, but they are generally eligible only for management/private quota seats in private colleges. Government quota seats at MMCRI are primarily reserved for Karnataka domicile candidates. Non-Karnataka students should check the KEA eligibility clauses carefully before applying.
Ques. What are the career opportunities after completing B.Sc. Nursing from MMCRI?
Ans. Graduates can work as Staff Nurses in government and private hospitals, Community Health Nurses, Nursing Tutors/Educators, Clinical Nurse Specialists, or pursue higher studies like M.Sc. Nursing. Government hospital jobs (Karnataka Health Department, ESIC, Railways, Armed Forces) are popular choices. Starting salaries in government hospitals range from Rs. 25,000-35,000 per month, while private hospitals in Mysore and Bangalore offer Rs. 20,000-30,000 per month for fresh graduates. International opportunities in the UAE, UK, and Canada are also available after clearing respective licensing exams.
