- Vast options to choose a program, student friendly faculty with higher qualifications, renowned public university with 175+ years of history.
Dislikes
- The tuition fee for Internationals, limited scholarships
Campus Life
- Infrastructure is very stunning with excellent amenities. The campus has almost everything, including facilities, sports, a gym, and activities.
Fees
- 1 CAD - Canadian Dollar ($) = INR 63 ish. Per credit it is around $1500. Each course carries 3 credits. So it would be around $4500 per course. Total would be $45,000 only for the course fee. Most programmes require 10 courses to finish the programme; 90% of the courses have options to choose, like electives, and 10% of the courses are mandatory. UHIP (University Health Insurance Plan), which is mandatory for every year as a student, would be around $800 per year.
- Other fees include gym, sports, association, and student pass (U-Pass) for public transport, which are included but still can be excluded later from the office. These fees would be up to $400.
- Considering the miscellaneous expenses associated only with the university programme, the total can be rounded off to $50,000 which would be around INR3.3M. Additionally, the federal government passed an order for a $20,300 GIC (Guaranteed Investment Certificate) amount, which should be paid to the federal government before lodging the visa while paying the tuition fee back in India. This amount will be deposited back to the student's account for 1 year as a security amount for student expenses in equal amounts monthly. Technically, the GIC amount comes back to our account.

- 200 Lees Campus
- Ottawa health campus
- The campus has medical facilities only for students and it is covered for free by Uhip although it takes a long time to get an appointment. The campus also has small food joints and cafes. There are 2 gyms at the main campus, swimming, basketball, football court, ice hockey area etc.
- Panda fest is a very popular sports activity at Inter University. The university also has clubs that organise Indian festivals like Holi, Diwali and there are major celebrations like Halloween parties.
- The university has a student council for graduate students named PDI and they organise various networking events and cultural activities.
Fees
- The tuition fees are based on the number of credits. In my course, it was mandatory to complete 30 credits. Every course is 3 credits and costs around 4000 dollars so 30 credits are 40000 CAD.
- I did not opt for university accommodation but I stayed in a shared space nearby which was 500 CAD a month. A private space or room may go upto 900-1000 CAD a month
- Credit based which you pay before each semester starts upto 1000 dollars a month

Likes
- I received admission offer from this university and global ranking is good.
- The university is one of the top rated institutes and thus students get good exposure in terms of research, jobs etc. There is a huge range of courses to choose from based on student's interests. The Infrastructure and Legacy of the university is awesome.
Dislikes
- Sometimes there is over emphasis over research candidates than course based candidates, so the number of scholarships, teaching assistant positions etc. are more suitable for research based students than course based.

Overview
The University of Ottawa is a really good university for Civil Engineering. My major is in structural engineering and the university is very well known for that. The course structure is really flexible. Also, there are a lot of choices in courses for structural engineering.
