Candidates allotted a seat under DU CSAS 2026 must accept the seat allotment within the prescribed deadline. The allotment is based on the candidate's CUET UG 2026 score, programme and college preferences, category, subject mapping, and seat availability.
Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) is Delhi University's centralized online counselling process for undergraduate admissions based on CUET UG 2026 scores. After completing CSAS Phase 1 (Registration) and Phase 2 (Programme & College Preference Filling), Delhi University releases seat allotments in multiple rounds. The Round 1 seat allotment is expected in the third week of July 2026 (tentative).
Once a seat is allotted, candidates must respond within the prescribed admission window (usually 48–72 hours) by accepting the seat, completing document verification, and paying the admission fee.
What is DU CSAS Seat Allotment?
The DU CSAS Seat Allotment process is the process through which Delhi University allocates seats to eligible candidates after the preference-filling process. The allotment is provisional and is prepared based on:
- CUET UG 2026 score
- Programme-specific eligibility
- College preferences
- Reservation category
- Seat availability
Latest Update: Delhi University has started DU CSAS UG 2026 Phase I (Registration) from 27 June 2026 for candidates who appeared in CUET UG 2026. Since the CUET UG 2026 results were declared on 23 June 2026, the University is expected to open Phase II (Programme & College Preference Filling) soon. After the preference-filling process is completed, Phase III (Seat Allocation-cum-Admission) will begin, where candidates will receive seat allotments and complete the admission process through the CSAS portal.

DU CSAS 2026 Admission Process
After the DU CSAS 2026 seat allotment results are announced in each counselling round, candidates who receive an allotted seat must complete the admission process within the prescribed deadlines to secure their admission. - Step 2: Check Seat Allotment - Open the Seat Allotment section and check which college and programme have been allotted.
- Verify the following details before accepting the allotted seat:
- College name
- Programme
- Category
- Allocation Round
- Admission status
Download the Provisional Seat Allotment Letter for your records.
How to Accept Your DU CSAS 2026 Allotted Seat?
After checking your allotment, follow these steps to confirm your admission:
- Step 1: Accept the Seat - Click the Accept Allocation button before the deadline.
After accepting the seat, choose one of the following options:
- Freeze: Confirm your allotted seat and exit further CSAS allocation rounds.
- Upgrade: Accept your current seat while remaining eligible for a higher-preference college or programme in the next CSAS round. Your existing seat will remain secure unless you are upgraded.
- Step 2: Once you accept the seat, the allotted college will verify your uploaded documents. After verifying your documents, the college will either:
- Approve your admission request if all documents are valid, or
- Raise additional queries if further clarification or corrections are needed.
- Step 3: Pay the Admission Fee - Once your documents have been successfully verified and approved by the allotted college, the Pay Admission Fee option will be activated on your CSAS dashboard. Complete the admission fee payment online using the available payment methods within the prescribed deadline to confirm your admission.
- Step 4: Download the Admission Confirmation - After successful verification and fee payment, download the Provisional Admission Letter and fee receipt for future reference.
Note:
- Keep checking your CSAS dashboard regularly until your verification status is updated
- If the college raises any query, upload the required documents or corrections within the specified time.
What Happens If a Candidate Chooses Freeze?
If a candidate is satisfied with the allotted college and programme, they may select the Freeze option after accepting the seat.
By choosing Freeze:
- The allotted college and programme become the candidate's final admission choice.
- The candidate will not be considered for seat upgradation in any subsequent CSAS allocation rounds.
- The allotted college will complete document verification.
- After successful document verification, the candidate must pay the admission fee within the prescribed deadline.
- Once the fee payment is completed, the candidate's admission will be confirmed, and the Provisional Admission Letter and Fee Payment Receipt can be downloaded from the CSAS portal.
Note: Candidates who select Freeze exit the regular CSAS seat allocation process and will not be considered for higher-preference colleges in future allocation rounds.
What Happens If a Candidate Chooses Upgrade?
If a candidate wishes to be considered for a higher-preference college or programme, they may select the Upgrade option after accepting the allotted seat.
By choosing Upgrade:
- The candidate's current allotted seat remains reserved.
- The CSAS system considers only the higher-preference colleges or programmes selected by the candidate during the preference-filling stage.
- If a seat becomes available in a higher-preference college based on the candidate's CUET UG score, category, programme eligibility, and seat availability, the candidate is automatically upgraded.
- Once the higher-preference seat is allotted, the previously allotted seat is automatically cancelled.
- If no higher-preference seat becomes available, the candidate retains the existing allotted seat and continues the admission process with the same college.
Note: Selecting Upgrade does not result in the loss of the current allotted seat. The existing seat remains secure until a higher-preference seat is officially allotted in a subsequent CSAS allocation round.
DU CSAS 2026 Seat Acceptance Process
Scenario 1: Suppose Candidate ‘A’ has scored 905 marks in CUET UG 2025 and applied for B.Com (Hons.) through the DU CSAS UG 2026 Portal.
To understand how the DU CSAS seat allotment process works, the table below shows Candidate A's order of college preferences along with the illustrative 2025 Round 1 cut-offs.
Note: The cut-offs used in this example are based on the 2025 DU CSAS admission cycle and are provided for illustrative purposes only. They should not be considered the official DU CSAS 2025 cut-offs.
| Preference | College | Round 1 Cut-off (Illustrative) | Status |
| 1 | SRCC | 918 | Not Allotted |
| 2 | Hindu College | 913 | Not Allotted |
| 3 | Hansraj College | 907 | Not Allotted |
| 4 | Kirori Mal College | 902 | Allotted |
| 5 | Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College | 898 | Not Considered |
Since A’s CUET score did not meet the Round 1 cut-off for SRCC, Hindu College, or Hansraj College, the CSAS system allotted Kirori Mal College, which was the highest preference for which he was eligible based on his score, category, and seat availability.
Note: Merely checking your seat allotment does not confirm your admission. You must accept the allotted seat, complete document verification, and pay the admission fee before the deadline to secure your admission under DU CSAS 2026.
What happens after seat allotment?
Once ‘A’ is allotted B.Com (Hons.) at Kirori Mal College, he must complete the admission process within the deadlines prescribed by Delhi University.
This includes accepting the allotted seat on the CSAS portal, completing document verification by the college, paying the admission fee, and downloading the admission confirmation.
After accepting the seat, select one of the following options:
- Upgrade
- Freeze
What Happens If ’A selects "Upgrade"?
- If ‘A’ chooses Upgrade, his Kirori Mal College seat remains secure.
- In the next CSAS round, the system will check only his higher preferences (SRCC, Hindu College, and Hansraj College).
- If a seat becomes available based on his merit, the new college will be allotted automatically, and the Kirori Mal College seat will be cancelled.
- If no higher-preference seat is available, Rahul will continue with Kirori Mal College.
What Happens If ’A selects “Freeze”?
If ‘A’ is satisfied with his B.Com (Hons.) seat at Kirori Mal College, he can select Freeze after accepting the seat.
- ‘A’confirms Kirori Mal College as his final choice.
- ‘A’ will not be considered for higher-preference colleges such as SRCC, Hindu College, or Hansraj College in subsequent CSAS allocation rounds.
- Kirori Mal College will verify his documents, after which ‘A’ must pay the admission fee through the CSAS portal.
- Once the fee payment is successful, A's admission to Kirori Mal College will be confirmed, and he can download the Provisional Admission Letter and Fee Payment Receipt.
Important Note: if you choose “Accept and Upgrade.” Your current seat remains safe. If a better preference is allotted in the next round, you must accept the new one (old seat cancels automatically). Once you Freeze or complete full admission (fee + verification), upgrade is not possible.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Ques. What happens if I don’t accept the allotted seat before the deadline?
Ans. Missing the deadline usually results in automatic cancellation of the seat. In some rounds, no action may default to Freeze (seat retained but no upgrades). Always check the exact rule for that round on your dashboard. Late action is not allowed—plan ahead and set reminders.
Ques. What is the difference between provisional allotment and final admission in Delhi University?
Ans. A provisional allotment is a temporary seat offer based on your CUET score, preferences, category, and seat availability. Final admission is confirmed only after you accept the allotted seat, complete document verification, pay the admission fee within the prescribed deadline, and fulfil all admission requirements of the allotted college.
Ques. Will Delhi University conduct Spot Admission rounds in 2026?
Ans. Yes. If seats remain vacant after the regular CSAS rounds, Delhi University may conduct Spot Admission rounds. Eligible candidates must register or opt in through the CSAS portal. Once a seat is allotted in a Spot Round, candidates are generally required to accept it, as further upgrades are usually not available.
Ques. What should I do if my documents are rejected during Delhi University verification?
Ans. If your documents are rejected, contact the relevant college immediately through its official communication channels. Minor errors may be corrected within the prescribed timeline, while major discrepancies or invalid documents may result in cancellation of the allotted seat.
Ques. Can I withdraw my Delhi University admission after paying the admission fee?
Ans. Yes. Candidates can withdraw their admission as per the withdrawal policy notified by Delhi University. The refund amount, if applicable, will be processed according to the University's fee refund rules and the stage of the admission process.
Ques. Are there any additional fees or requirements after Delhi University seat allotment?
Ans. Yes. Apart from the admission fee, some colleges may require candidates to submit additional documents, declarations, or undertakings during admission. Certain colleges may also collect charges for facilities such as identity cards, library services, or refundable security deposits, as per their admission guidelines.
