How is the DU One-Year PG Merit List Prepared?
The DU 1 Year PG Seat Allocation Rules determine seat allotment based on programme-specific eligibility priority, merit, category, and seat availability.
- The merit list will follow the Programme-Specific Priorities in order: P1, P2, P3, and P4.
- Seats will first be offered to eligible P1 applicants based on merit.
- If seats remain vacant, P2 applicants will be considered, followed by P3 and P4.
- If two or more applicants have the same 8-semester CGPA, the higher CGPA in the first seven semesters will be considered.
- If the tie continues, the six-semester CGPA will be checked, followed by earlier semesters as needed.
- The UR merit list is open to all applicants. SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS applicants can also get a UR seat if they meet the required merit.
- Applicants claiming a reserved or supernumerary category must have a valid certificate at the time of allocation.
- If eligible ST applicants are exhausted, vacant ST seats may be offered to eligible SC applicants, and vice versa.
- If an applicant loses a reserved-category seat due to an invalid or incomplete category document, they may still be considered for a UR seat in later rounds, subject to eligibility, merit, and seat availability.
Note: P1, P2, P3 and P4 are Programme-Specific Eligibility (PSE) priority levels used by DU for One-Year PG admission. They indicate the order in which eligible applicants are considered for seat allocation.
DU One-Year PG Admission 2026 Tie-Breaking Rule
If two or more candidates have the same merit score even after semester-wise CGPA checks, DU applies the following final tie-breaking criteria in order until the tie is resolved:
- Rule 1 – Higher CGPA: The candidate with the higher CGPA in the qualifying four-year undergraduate programme is given preference.
- Rule 2 – Higher Percentage: If the CGPA is also the same, the candidate with the higher aggregate percentage in the qualifying degree is ranked higher.
- Rule 3 – Earlier Date of Birth: If the tie still continues, preference is given to the candidate with the earlier date of birth, meaning the older candidate is ranked higher.
Refund Policy
- The admission fee may be refunded if an admitted applicant withdraws admission, subject to the applicable University of Delhi refund rules. However, the application fee is non-refundable under all circumstances.

Frequently Asked Questions
Ques. Is physical verification mandatory for DU One-Year PG Admission 2026?
Ans. Yes. Admitted applicants must report to the allotted Department/Centre for physical verification of original documents and completion of admission formalities. Admission remains provisional until verification is completed. If any document is found incomplete, insufficient, or inappropriate, the admission may be cancelled, and the applicant may also lose the opportunity to seek admission to any DU PG programme for the 2026–27 session.
Ques. Is CUET PG required for DU One-Year PG Admission 2026?
Ans. No. The One-Year PG admissions covered by the 2026–27 bulletin are merit-based. Admission is based on the merit scores obtained after completion of the eligible four-year bachelor’s degree and the applicable programme-specific eligibility criteria.
Ques. What happens if two applicants have the same CGPA?
Ans. If two or more applicants for the same programme have the same eight-semester CGPA, preference is first given to the applicant with the higher CGPA in the first seven semesters. If the tie continues, DU compares the CGPA of the first six semesters and then the preceding semesters, as required
Ques. Can an applicant apply for more than one One-Year PG programme?
Ans. Applicants may apply to programmes for which they meet the prescribed eligibility conditions. Since DU specifies the application fee per programme, a separate applicable fee must be paid for each selected programme. Applicants should carefully verify programme-specific eligibility before applying.
Ques. Is physical verification of original documents mandatory?
Ans. Yes. All admitted applicants must report to the concerned Department/Centre and complete admission formalities, including physical verification of original documents and certificates, as notified. Admission remains provisional and is subject to successful verification.
