- The syllabus is up to the industry level & easy to grasp.
- There were a few courses that offered capstone or apprenticeship with company, to get some real world exposure.
Fees
- 1,200$ per credit, with 30 credits it is 36,000 USD - just for tuition fees. With International fees, health insurance & tax would be 600 to 2000$ extra per semester.

- Nothing that I remember about, amazing location, amazing peer group and programs
- Does not support taking up TA opportunities in other departments
- No late night bus services during winter
- Most of the students applied for PhD programs, and 100% of them got admits in 1 or more.
- I applied for industry and there were 10-20% of students who went to big tech companies or hedge funds, HFTs.
- Average Salary for industry: 150k+ USD
- Job: Alumni network, referrals, asking their mentor for connections, conferences, and organized alumni talks Highest: 500k+, lowest: 80k-100k

- Difficulty depends on course but increases with year. It is very practical, unlike Indian colleges, and focuses on projects a lot.
- It covers core concepts and ideas and in-depth exams and projects make students apply themselves.
- Classes are typically scheduled throughout the day, with an average of 2-3 sessions daily, each lasting 60-90 minutes.
- The timings vary but generally fall between 9 AM and 5 PM, depending on the schedule for the semester.
- The average number of students in each class is around 300-500 for big classes, creating an environment conducive to interactive learning.
- Among my batchmates, there is a diverse mix of nationalities, with approximately 20–30% of the students being Indian.
Fees
- For my 4 year undergraduate course, the fee structure is breakdown as follows-
- $21,000 per semester so total = $168,000 for full course.
- You can pay per semester in 1 go or broken down in 3 parts over course of 3 months.
- For first year, living in dorm is compulsory and mess dining hall usage, so cost for that is around $9000.
- Monthly expenses include groceries, food, electricity bill etc and are around $300-$500.
- Bus is free for students so they get a pass, so no travel charges.
- Rent is around $1000-1500 per month for single bedroom, less if shared.

- The flexibility of choosing classes. Of course some requirements were imposed, such as certain number of humanities and social science courses for a computer science degree, but apart from these there was a lot of leeway.
- The nightlife. Ease of access to booze, clubs and having a good with friends and others.
- The weather. Less pollution, less heat, less people, less crowding. Also snow in winters.
Dislikes
- The food. Even the best of the best restaurants cannot compare with mammi ka khana.
- The extra requirements. You would be forced to take a certain number of humanities, social sciences, ethnic studies courses no matter what you choose to study.
- The fact that the degree is 4 years and 3 years. Extra year of not earning, spending in college (could be a plus, but was a negative for me).

Difficulty was easy to v.easy for intro level courses which are meant to weed out students, much like JEE in India. But the difficult creeps up with 2nd and 3rd year courses.

The courses are very theorectical and the practical applications are left to students.

Negatives are that they are too theoretical.
Fees
- A full breakdown can be found at the tuition and bursar page for UW Madison.
- For an average semester (4 month), it came down to for tuition, $4K for housing $2K for food and other things: books, access to various apps and online material, some medical stuff and unforeseen expenses.
- Transportation was included in tuition, and a bus card was given.

- Infrastructure - easily accessible buildings, well connected with the city, spacious
- Curriculum - there is something for everyone
Dislikes
- Community- Personally, I would have liked more outreach support
- Segregation fees- In spite of having a stipend, we had to pay segregation fees which can be financially demanding

Students have the liberty to choose courses as per their requirements. My research was in the field of smart manufacturing and I had an interest in biomechanics. I was able to find the right courses to meet my needs. There were courses that gave us both industrial and research exposure through field visits and guest lectures.

- The extracurricular activities and sports with the balance of academics is the thing i most like about my college, it is a place where we can have fun and study both at the same time.
Dislikes
- I hate the location as there is nothing to do apart from the campus life as Madison is a very small city. The winters in Madison are brutal and being from a city where it never snows it is tough to manage.

- Great set of coursework for computer engineering. Professors in the past have done pioneering research work. Tuition and cost of living is very affordable plus Madison is a very safe city.
- Madison is a very safe city with good public transport and the cost of living is less compared to other major cities. Tuition is also very affordable. Great coursework with strong emphasis on research and is one of the best universities for systems (OS, distributed, data systems, etc) engineering. Plenty of opportunities for TA/RA/part time.
Dislikes
- Weather is not very friendly but is manageable with the right set of clothes. All graduate level courses require you to read research papers on a regular basis and the projects will also be research centered. It will be difficult at first but you’ll soon get used to it.

Coursework is very good, you’ll get the opportunity to learn from professors working on cutting edge research. ESP good for computer architecture. Plenty of opportunities for research, you can email professors and talk to them about your interests.
Fees
Tuition is ~$1200 per credit. Total would be around 40000 - 45000 with insurance. Cost of living depends on your lifestyle but you can get apartments with a private room for <$700.

- The University of Wisconsin-Madison is one of the leading universities in the USA with exemplary Statistics and Computer Science Departments. The course I have opted for (i.e.) Data Science is a joint program offered by these departments which is essentially the best of both worlds!
- The University of is amazing and is one of the best for Computer Science and Statistics. The Facilities offered to the students are world-class and there are a lot of programs and events happening to help facilitate students.
Dislikes
- There is nothing that I dislike about the university but the climate of Madison might be a deterrent for potential admits. It is quite random in the early summer months and gets very cold in the winter.
