University of Bridgeport admissions run on two international intakes each year — a Fall entry that carries most programmes and a Spring entry that opens a smaller catalogue. Indian applicants need Class XII marks around 60 percent for a bachelor’s route or a three-to-four-year Bachelor’s degree with an average of 2.7 GPA (roughly 65 to 70 percent) for a master’s route.
- Fall 2026 international deadline: 15 July 2026 for the primary August intake, with Spring 2027 closing 1 December 2026.
- Base tuition: USD 37,090 (around INR 35.49 Lakhs) per year for UG and USD 830 per credit (around INR 79,423) for most PG programmes, with the application fee waived to USD 0 (INR 0) for every applicant.
- Eligibility floor: Class XII around 60 percent for UG and a Bachelor’s above 65 percent for PG, with IELTS 6.0 for UG or Masters and IELTS 6.5 for PhD.
- Acceptance rate: estimated at 82 percent, since the university runs an access-oriented admissions policy that admits most applicants meeting stated requirements.
Popular programmes for Indian students include the MS in Computer Science, MS in Artificial Intelligence, MS in Analytics and Systems, and the MBA at the School of Business. University of Bridgeport Application Deadlines for Indian Students
UB operates a two-intake international calendar. The Fall intake in August is the primary window, since almost every UG and PG programme opens seats then. The Spring intake in January carries a narrower catalogue, and no international admits are taken for Summer per the official international FAQ.
The dates below apply to Indian applicants for both undergraduate and graduate routes, per the UB international applicants FAQ. UB’s primary intake for Indian students is Fall (August) — most programmes open here.
| Intake | Level | Deadline | Portal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fall 2026 (August) — Primary intake | UG and PG | 15 July 2026 | UB Student Application (bridgeport.edu/apply) |
| Spring 2027 (January) | UG and PG | 1 December 2026 | UB Student Application |
| Summer 2027 | UG and PG | Not available to international students | — |
The application fee is waived at both windows and the portal is the same throughout the year. Indian applicants are advised to file at least two months before the deadline so I-20 issuance leaves enough runway for the F-1 visa interview slot.
Planning note: Book your visa slot the moment the I-20 lands. Chennai, Mumbai, and Delhi consulate wait times for F-1 slots often stretch past four weeks during May and June, and a July deadline application does not leave much cushion.
University of Bridgeport Eligibility for Indian Applicants
UB uses institution-wide academic minimums rather than programme-by-programme cutoffs for most degrees. The lists below capture what the international undergraduate and graduate offices publish as the entry floor for Indian applicants.
- UG general entry: Class XII (CBSE, ICSE, or state board) from a recognised school with an aggregate around 60 percent.
- PG general entry: a three or four-year Bachelor’s from a recognised Indian university, with a minimum GPA of 2.7 on 4.0 (roughly 65 to 70 percent).
- PhD entry: a relevant Master’s for most doctorates, with programme-specific research or portfolio expectations.
- MBA: Bachelor’s in any discipline, GMAT or GRE not required for most applicants, work experience preferred.
English-proficiency floors come from the dedicated UB English-language-requirements subpage. Test scores must be dated within the last two years.
| Test | UG minimum | PG minimum (MS or MBA) | PhD minimum |
|---|---|---|---|
| IELTS | 6.0 | 6.0 | 6.5 |
| TOEFL iBT | 75 | 80 | 80 |
| PTE Academic | 53 | 58 | 58 |
| Duolingo | 90 | 95 | 95 |
University of Bridgeport IELTS Waiver for Indian Students
UB publishes several English waiver routes an Indian applicant can meet even without an IELTS or TOEFL score. Any one of these is treated as proof of English proficiency by the admissions office.
- Cambridge O Level or A Level English at grade C or higher on your Class X or Class XII certificate.
- IB English A at Higher Level with a score of 4 or above.
- Completion of ELS Level 112 or the Advanced Level at UB’s own English Language Institute.
- A US or accredited college English composition course completed at grade C or better.
Applicants who cannot meet the direct minimum can also be admitted conditionally to UB’s English Language Institute (ELI), which counts as an on-ramp rather than a rejection.
Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official University of Bridgeport international page for your chosen program before applying.
University of Bridgeport PG Programs and Requirements
The graduate catalogue at UB spans the School of Engineering, School of Business, College of Health Sciences, and the School of Education. Base graduate tuition is USD 830 per credit (around INR 79,423) for most master’s programmes, with School of Business at USD 955 per credit and School of Engineering at USD 1,100. A full course-wise fees breakdown lives on the fees page.
| Programme | Duration | Minimum Eligibility | English Req. Min. |

| MS Nutrition | 2 years | Bachelor’s with biology or nutrition coursework | IELTS 6.0 |
| Master of Science in Education | 2 years | Bachelor’s in any discipline | TOEFL 80 iBT (required) |
Indian applicants for the Master of Science in Education route should note the hard TOEFL 80 iBT floor — the department requires that specific test even when IELTS would otherwise be accepted. Engineering, Dental Hygiene, Education, and Health Science programmes additionally require a course-by-course transcript evaluation for Indian degrees.
Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official University of Bridgeport graduate admissions page for your chosen program before applying.
University of Bridgeport UG Programs and Entry Requirements
UB’s undergraduate catalogue covers business, engineering, health sciences, and liberal arts. Base tuition sits at USD 37,090 (around INR 35.49 Lakhs) for a full-time year, with programme fees layered on for engineering and health science majors.
| Programme | Duration | Minimum Eligibility | English Req. Min. |
|---|---|---|---|

| BSN Nursing | 4 years | Class XII around 65 percent with Biology and Chemistry | IELTS 6.0 |
| BS Psychology | 4 years | Class XII around 60 percent in any stream | IELTS 6.0 |
Applicants targeting the Dental Hygiene track must add a course-by-course evaluation, SAT scores, at least two letters of recommendation, and a supplemental application to the standard packet. UB does not require the SAT for other undergraduate majors.
University of Bridgeport MBA Admissions
The Ernest C. Trefz School of Business runs the MBA on the same Fall and Spring windows as the rest of the university. Base tuition for the MBA runs at USD 955 per credit (around INR 91,384), which works out to roughly USD 28,650 (around INR 27.42 Lakhs) for a full-time academic year.
| Intake | Application Deadline | Decision Window |
|---|---|---|
| Fall 2026 (Primary) | 15 July 2026 | 3 to 4 weeks from complete file |
| Spring 2027 | 1 December 2026 | 3 to 4 weeks from complete file |
University of Bridgeport MBA GMAT and Work Experience Policy
The full-time MBA does not enforce a GMAT or GRE requirement for most applicants — the admissions office reviews the Bachelor’s transcript, statement of purpose, and CV together. Work experience is preferred but not mandatory for the day MBA, while the executive-track applicants should carry at least three years of managerial experience.
University of Bridgeport MBA Programme Choice
Applicants can pick the general MBA, or specialise in Analytics, Finance, or Global Media. The MBA route is served directly by UB’s own portal — there is no separate business-school platform. See the MBA programme page for the current specialisation list.
Insider note: The School of Business regularly asks for a video interview once the written application is shortlisted. Prepare a two-minute career narrative — MBA counsellors flag "why the Trefz school specifically" as the question that most Indian applicants freeze on.
University of Bridgeport PhD Application Process
UB awards doctoral degrees through the School of Engineering (Computer Science and Engineering, Technology Management) and the College of Health Sciences (Chiropractic, Chinese Medicine, Health Sciences DHSc, Ed.D. Educational Leadership). Doctoral tuition runs at USD 1,100 per credit (around INR 1.05 Lakhs) for engineering PhDs, and USD 1,095 per credit for the DC Chiropractic route.
University of Bridgeport PhD Timeline for Indian Applicants
Doctoral files run through the same Fall and Spring windows as the master’s applications but carry an added assistantship shortlist round for engineering candidates. Applicants who want funding through a research or teaching assistantship should submit by mid-June to reach the internal shortlist for the following Fall.
- Application file open: immediately, through the UB Student Application portal.
- Fall 2026 deadline: 15 July 2026, with earlier submission preferred for assistantship review.
- Decision window: 4 to 6 weeks for doctoral files that include research proposal review.
- PhD deposit on admission: USD 750 (around INR 71,768) confirms your seat.
University of Bridgeport PhD Funding for Indian Students
The School of Engineering offers a limited pool of assistantships that cover tuition and pay a stipend to the appointed student. Amounts and openings are decided each year by the individual programme director. Explore full funding for Indian students to see external doctoral grants worth listing alongside your UB assistantship application.
Reality check: UB does not guarantee tuition waivers for incoming PhD students. Assistantships are appointed only after the first-semester performance review for most engineering doctorates, so plan on funding the first term privately.
University of Bridgeport Application Process for Indian Students
UB uses a single direct portal at bridgeport.edu/apply for every international file, UG and PG combined. There is no Common Application route for international applicants. The step order below is what the international admissions team walks Indian applicants through.
- Create your account on the UB Student Application portal at bridgeport.edu/apply and pick your intake and programme.
- Confirm the waived application fee — UB charges no application fee for UG or PG international applicants, and the portal reflects USD 0 (INR 0) at the payment step.
- Upload attested Class X, Class XII, and any Bachelor’s transcripts, along with degree conferral proof for graduate applicants.
- Upload your English test report — IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE, or Duolingo — dated within the last two years.
- Upload the 250 to 500-word personal statement, two letters of recommendation (PG only), current passport bio-page, and financial documentation.
- Submit and monitor your applicant portal for the decision or a request for additional documents.
University of Bridgeport Admission Decisions Timeline
The international admissions office publishes a decision timeline of 3 to 4 weeks from the point at which the file is complete. Once accepted, you receive your admission letter, tuition-deposit invoice, and I-20 issuance instructions in one packet.
- Offer letter: emailed with the applicant portal update, followed by hard copy.
- Tuition deposit: USD 400 (around INR 38,276) for UG and master’s; USD 750 (around INR 71,768) for PhD.
- Housing deposit: USD 250 (around INR 23,923) if you request on-campus housing.
- Deferral policy: UB does not carry offers forward — a fresh application is required for a later intake.
University of Bridgeport Documents Required for International Students
The document set below is what UB’s international office asks Indian applicants to upload with the online application. Every non-English document needs a notarised or attested English translation submitted in the same format as the original.
- Academic records: attested Class X, Class XII, and Bachelor’s transcripts with proof of graduation.
- Personal statement: 250 to 500-word essay on programme fit and career plans.
- Letters of recommendation: two academic or professional LORs in English, PG only.
- Resume or CV: current professional resume, PG only.
- English test report: IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or Duolingo score card within two years.
- Passport bio-page: colour scan of the current passport valid for the study period.
- Financial documentation: original or colour-scanned bank statement showing liquid funds sufficient for one year, plus the FSIS form if the account is not in your name.
- Course-by-course evaluation: required for Engineering, Dental Hygiene, Education, and Health Science tracks — WES or ECE reports are accepted.
Before you apply: Ask your Indian institution for the transcripts sealed and stamped by the controller of examinations. UB accepts WhatsApp scans for the file review, but the physical seal is checked when you enrol.
University of Bridgeport Acceptance Rate for Indian Students
UB does not publish an official institutional acceptance figure, but common-data reporting places the overall acceptance rate at around 82 percent, based on comparable private-university reporting for the Bridgeport, Connecticut cohort. This puts UB in the access-oriented band — the university admits most applicants who meet stated academic and English requirements.
University of Bridgeport Acceptance Rate by Programme
Engineering and computing master’s routes see the highest Indian applicant volume, and admission rates for MS Computer Science and MS AI applicants who meet the GPA 2.7 and IELTS 6.0 minimums are strong. Dental Hygiene and the Physician Assistant Institute are the two selective admits — both add supplemental interviews and cap intake sharply.
University of Bridgeport Yield and Class Profile
Indian students make up a sizeable share of the international cohort each year, with the School of Engineering and Trefz School of Business the two largest destinations. UB’s ranking band sits in the US News regional universities North tier, which helps calibrate the university’s admissions profile against peers you may be comparing.
Insider note: The access-oriented policy does not mean automatic admission. Weak documentation — missing transcript pages, an unsigned SOP, or a bank statement older than six months — is the single biggest reason files stall at UB, not academic marks.
USA Student Visa Process for University of Bridgeport Applicants
Admitted Indian students apply for the F-1 non-immigrant student visa through the US consulate in Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, or Hyderabad. Once UB issues your I-20, pay the SEVIS I-901 fee of USD 350 (around INR 33,492) on fmjfee.com, complete the DS-160 form, pay the USD 185 (around INR 17,703) visa application fee, and book the biometrics and interview appointment through ustraveldocs.com. Carry the I-20, DS-160 confirmation, SEVIS receipt, admission letter, financial affidavit, and bank statements to the consular interview.
The consular officer weighs three things — bona fide student intent, financial capability for the full programme, and strong ties to India. On landing at your US port of entry, present the I-20 and passport at Customs and Border Protection; then complete UB’s mandatory in-person check-in during orientation week.
2026 update: The US State Department has expanded interview waiver eligibility for renewing F-1 students, but first-time applicants from India must attend an in-person interview. Book the earliest slot the consulate offers once your I-20 arrives.
University of Bridgeport Application Tips and Checklist
The following tips and steps are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at UB. They cover the sequencing that trips up first-time US applicants and are meant to sit alongside, not repeat, the document list above.
- Start six months out: Request Indian institution transcripts eight weeks before your target deadline, since controller-of-examination offices routinely take four to six weeks in India.
- Book the IELTS or TOEFL by January: UB accepts scores within two years, so an early sitting leaves room for a rebook if you miss the graduate 6.0 or 80 iBT floor.
- Sequence your English waiver claim: If you are using the O-Level or IB waiver, upload the Class X or IB certificate at file submission, not after — retrofits delay the decision by a full round.
- Use the FSIS form only when needed: Applicants funded by parents on their own account submit the bank statement directly; the FSIS form applies only when the account holder is a sponsor whose name differs from the applicant’s.
- Complete the file by 15 May for Fall: This is two months before the deadline and leaves time for a WES evaluation and a follow-up if a document is queried.
- Pay the tuition deposit within 10 days of admission: USD 400 confirms your seat and unlocks I-20 processing at UB’s international office.
- Line up the SEVIS fee and DS-160 the same week your I-20 arrives: Consulate slots in Chennai and Mumbai for May to July are the tightest — batch the paperwork so you can book the moment the appointment queue opens.
- Carry hard copies to the visa interview: Consular officers still ask for the physical I-20, admission letter, bank affidavits, and receipts even though the SEVIS system is digital.
UB’s admissions review is document-driven, so the applicant who wins is the one who submits a complete, waiver-supported, transcript-verified file two months before the deadline. Fall 2026 remains open through 15 July 2026 and Spring 2027 follows on 1 December 2026 — build the calendar backwards from those two dates.

Scholarship
- Yes, I received 4000$ merit scholarship that was mentioned in my offer letter. This scholarship, I can use 2000 for each semester. As mentioned in the name merit, I have very good GPA in my under graduate and good score in GRE. Also I have working experience as I have worked in big MNC.
- I saw that my batchmates also received 2-3K $ scholarships. Maximum I see it is 5K$. 50 to 70% of the students receive scholarship if they have very good academic backgrounds. During the second year of their master's, student's can receive a scholarship if they maintain a GPA above 3.5 in the first year.

- Yes, the scholarships will be granted to merit students between $2000 - $5000 and also we have a UB portal where we can find the scholarship opportunities around us. That portal takes all our inputs and based on the inputs it gives customised scholarships where we can apply and get grants. A lot of students get grants available in the campus. My suggestion is to keep your bachelor grades good and apply to the university to get better scholarships
