Amity Noida B.Tech Food Technology FAQs

Ques. Is PCM or PCB mandatory for B.Tech Food Technology at Amity Noida, or can students from other streams apply?

Ans. B.Tech Food Technology at Amity Noida has a unique eligibility - Chemistry is mandatory, but the second and third subjects can be chosen from a wide range including Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Computer Science, Biotechnology, Agriculture, Business Studies, and more. This makes it accessible to students from science, commerce (with Chemistry), and vocational streams, unlike most B.Tech programmes that require PCM or PCB strictly.

Ques. What is the difference between B.Tech Food Technology and B.Sc Food Technology?

Ans. B.Tech Food Technology is an engineering degree with a stronger focus on food processing machinery, bioprocess engineering, food plant design, and industrial applications. B.Sc Food Technology is more science-oriented, focusing on food chemistry, nutrition, and microbiology. B.Tech graduates are preferred for engineering and production roles in food companies, while B.Sc graduates typically go into research, nutrition, or teaching. B.Tech also opens doors to M.Tech programmes.

Ques. What are the career opportunities after B.Tech Food Technology from Amity Noida?

Ans. Graduates can work as Food Technologists, Quality Control Managers, R&D Scientists, Food Safety Officers, Regulatory Affairs Executives, and Production Engineers. Key employers include ITC, Nestle, Britannia, Amul, Dabur, Haldiram's, FSSAI, and food processing startups. Graduates can also pursue higher studies (M.Tech, MSc Food Science) or start their own food businesses.

Ques. Are there internship opportunities during the B.Tech Food Technology programme?

Ans. Yes, the programme includes two mandatory Summer Internships - one in Semester 5 and another in Semester 7. These internships provide hands-on exposure to food processing plants, quality labs, and R&D departments of food companies. Students are also required to complete a Major Project in Semester 8, which is often done in collaboration with industry partners.

Ques. Does Amity Noida's B.Tech Food Technology have any government recognition or accreditation?

Ans. Amity University Noida is a UGC-recognised private university established under the Uttar Pradesh Act. The B.Tech Food Technology programme is approved by AICTE. The university is also NAAC A+ accredited and consistently ranked in NIRF rankings. Graduates receive a degree from Amity University Uttar Pradesh, which is widely recognised by employers and for higher studies.

Ques. What is the scope of Food Technology in India, and is it a good career choice?

Ans. India is one of the world's largest food producers and has a rapidly growing food processing sector. The government's focus on food processing under schemes like PLI (Production Linked Incentive) for food processing has created significant demand for trained food technologists. Graduates can find roles in FMCG companies, dairy cooperatives, export-oriented food units, government labs, and food startups. The field also offers strong entrepreneurship opportunities, especially in areas like functional foods, organic products, and food safety consulting.

Fees and Financial Aid:

Tuition fees is extremely high. In every 6 months we need to pay the fees.there is Security fees and tuition fees approx 10 lakh for 4 years. If you are a dropper so there is less chance of getting scholarship. As I score 9.8 in last sem but still I don't get scholarship. Merit based scholarship is for 1 child when total strength is 60 . So that is quite un fare.. I am only one number less than the topper student still they are. Not giving scholarship. I am a student so I get to know they provide placement in campus.

Fee Structure And Facilities:

Fees is obviously a bit high as compare to other universities with same course. Every semester their is a hike od 4k. You can get scholarships, in many ways which are available on Amity University website, the one I am aware of is when you top 1 year your fees for best semester is free. During covid has come up with very nobel cause, if any of their student has lost their earing parent Amity will pay for their fees, which is grat during these times. As far as campus jobs are coming concerned, one should know that there is no mass recruitment in food sector companies will come but they will hire not more than 10 students. Big companies do come, like Pernord Ricard always hire from Amity. But in food sector focus on internship and then only it will be easy for you to get the job.
