MAKAUT M.Tech Material Science and Technology: Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Ans. Candidates must hold a B.Tech or BE degree in a relevant engineering or technology discipline from a recognised university with at least 55 percent aggregate marks. A valid GATE score is required for merit-based shortlisting. Candidates who are NET-qualified or have sponsored research experience may also be considered at the department’s discretion. Final selection is through a research proposal and departmental interview at MAKAUT Haringhata.

GATE-qualified candidates are shortlisted for the departmental interview based on their paper score and percentile. Sponsored candidates deputed by government agencies or PSUs may be considered through a separate channel, subject to departmental availability and norms. Non-GATE applicants should contact the department before applying.

Ans. The total programme fee for the 2-year M.Tech Material Science and Technology at MAKAUT is INR 94,800. The first-year fee is INR 54,200 and the second-year fee is INR 40,600. The fee covers tuition, examination, laboratory access, and statutory university charges. GATE-qualified scholars may receive the MHRD scholarship of INR 12,400 per month. Hostel accommodation is available separately. Fees are paid semester-wise to the university at Haringhata.

GATE-qualified candidates admitted to M.Tech Research at MAKAUT are eligible for the MHRD Teaching Assistantship scholarship of INR 12,400 per month, subject to satisfactory academic progress and departmental duties. West Bengal domicile students may also apply for the Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship if family income is below INR 2.5 lakhs per year. Scholarship applications should be submitted within the annual deadline set by the respective awarding body.
