What are the pros and cons of studying ECE in IIT Roorkee?

A few pros and cons of being a student in the ECE department of IIT Roorkee are Cons The faculty has little interest in teaching and the pedagogy and evaluation methods adopted are obsolete. The curriculum is old school and is irrelevant to the current industry demands. Some labs are poorly maintained with no replacement of faulty equipment You will lack employability because of no awareness of modern-day techniques, practices, and skills required by a good ECE Engineer. Teaching is mostly theoretical with less practical explanation and implementation. Students prefer noncore jobs and thus lose interest in the core ECE field Apt of irrelevant courses need to cover just for credits Pros The department is located in the same building as that of CS and thus you will be sharing some courses and electives with CS students making you more employable. You will have an edge over others because most software companies prefer ECE and CSE students over other branches. The excellent reputation and alumni network will fetch you great research internships from abroad. After weighing the pros and cons of both, make a decision that will help you shape a better career.

Should I take Chemical Engineering at IIT Roorkee, ECE at IIT Bhubaneswar or EEE at IIT Mandi ?

The major factor that drives the decision of which course to pursue is the placements. Chemical Engineering- IIT Roorkee As per the 2018-19 placements record, more than 250 companies participated in campus placements, some of them were ITC, Reliance, Jindal Steel, TATA, and many more. Chemical Engineering Students at IIT Roorkee recorded an average placement of INR 13.05 lakhs per annum. A total of 8 PPOs were offered to Chemical Engineering students. Roles were offered for Technologist, Researcher, Data Scientist, Data Analyst, Consultant, etc. The placement rate for Chemical Engineering was around 80%. ECE at IIT Bhubaneswar ECE is one of the new branches of IIT Bhubaneswar and was introduced in 2016. Due to this, the first batch to pass out would be the batch of 2020. So there are no past records for this course. However, seeing the trend of placements for electrical engineering, the same can be assumed for ECE as well. In the year 2018-2019, 86% of the Electrical Engineering Department was placed. Companies like Amazon, INTEL Technology, ISRO, DELL, Thermax, Tata Steel, and many more visited to recruit students during campus placements. The average placement was recorded at INR Rs. 11.44 lakhs per annum. EEE at IIT Mandi As per 2019-20 placements, 62.5% of EEE were placed during phase-1 of campus placements. A total of 75 companies visited the campus and some of the top recruiters were Accenture, Wipro, CISCO, ISRO, CSC India, Siemens to name a few. The average package offered was 13.5 lakhs per annum. Several PPOs were also offered. Considering the placements data, you should choose Chemical Engineering at IIT Roorkee. However, the final decision of which course and college to select rests up to you.

The tutition fees which is basically the college fees is 200000( 2lacs per year) The hostel fees which includes accomodation and electricity is 20000 per year The mess charges and other charges like registarion fees is about 80000 per year

The dream college

Course infrastructure of our college is good . They include all the courses that insure full character development and knowledge development.

There are some fix fee structure of IIT Roorkee Tution fee-100000 for per semester Mess charges- 20250 Hostel( accommodation and electricity)-7500 Student maintenance -7000 These are some fix charges and other than this industrial tour charge if any in semester.

Get to know IIT Roorkee

Academics-We have well structured syllabus for all courses available along with best of professors with best knowledge in their subjects.

For a b-Tech student without any privilege the total course fees for 8 semester is 12lakhs.This is, fixed and not hiked . So we have 8 semester hence per, semester fees is 1.5 lakh. 1 lakh tution fees , 40 thousands mess and hostel and 5 thousands educational trip and 5 thousands miscellaneous. However collage provides many scholarship for underprivileged students like student whose fami income is below 6 lakh per year get 40% off in tution fees Moreover their is MCM scholarship available which provides further discount of 40% on tution fees to such students. For students with backward classes their is 0 tution fees so their per semester fees is 50k only.

I.I.T Roorkee - marvellous experience

Fees is like 3 lakhs per year for OC students but if you belong to any other community it will be around a lakh including hostel fee which is great we get merit cum means scholarship and also other ..

The facts of IIT roorkee

The fee structure at IIT is not that low as you was expected the fees is higher compared to PhD and mtech students,but you can avail scholarships if your family income is less than 100000 then the whole tution is free and you have to pay only the hostel fees .and we can avail other scholarships such national scholarship portal,reliance scholarships.

My life at IIT ROORKEE

It was 1,50,000 for the 1st year and 1,70,000 for the second year. This was very cool compared to all other private colleges . This is complete fee including everything. I didn't get any scholarship as my mother is an govt employee

Maximum of 8 gp is provided after second examination including medical background which is the wrong grading policy according to me.

Tution fees is fix for all the students other than SC/ST student. Tution fees is 1lacs per semester and including all other charges total fees we have to pay is 143000 for autumn semester and 138000 for spring semester. There are many scholarships provided by the college fee waiver is provided to the students who have lower income and many other state scholarships are also provided such as MMVY, foundation scholarship,etc. I am a executive member of UBA and I was also event executive during national social summit organised by NSS IIT Roorkee.
