SRIHER Pharm.D (PB) FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between Pharm.D (6-year) and Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate)? Which is better?
Ans. The 6-year Pharm.D is a direct entry programme after 10+2, covering both pharmacy fundamentals and clinical pharmacy over 5 years of study plus 1 year of internship. The Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate) is a 3-year lateral entry programme for B.Pharm graduates, focusing exclusively on clinical pharmacy, pharmacotherapeutics, and research. Both lead to the same Pharm.D degree and are regulated by PCI. The PB route is faster for B.Pharm graduates and is ideal for those who want to transition into clinical pharmacy without repeating foundational pharmacy subjects.
Ques. Is GPAT mandatory for admission to Pharm.D (PB) at SRIHER? What if I don't have a GPAT score?
Ans. GPAT is not mandatory for admission to Pharm.D (PB) at SRIHER. However, having a valid GPAT score strengthens your application and may improve your merit rank. Selection is primarily based on a personal interview conducted by SRIHER. Candidates without GPAT scores are also considered based on their B.Pharm academic performance. Additionally, GPAT-qualified candidates are eligible for the AICTE PG Scholarship of Rs. 12,400 per month, which is a significant financial benefit.
Ques. What are the career options after completing Pharm.D (PB) from SRIHER? What is the expected salary?

International opportunities, particularly in the US, UK, and Gulf countries, offer significantly higher compensation.
Ques. How competitive is the admission process for Pharm.D (PB) at SRIHER? What is the typical profile of selected candidates?
Ans. With only 10 seats available, the Pharm.D (PB) programme at SRIHER is highly competitive. Based on general admission patterns, candidates with a strong B.Pharm academic record (typically 65% or above), a valid GPAT score, and good communication skills tend to be shortlisted. The personal interview assesses the candidate's clinical knowledge, motivation, and suitability for the programme. Candidates with prior hospital or clinical pharmacy exposure have an added advantage.
Ques. Is the Pharm.D (PB) degree from SRIHER recognised for practice as a clinical pharmacist in India and abroad?
Ans. Yes, the Pharm.D (PB) degree from SRIHER is fully recognised by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and is equivalent to the Pharm.D degree for the purposes of pharmacy practice in India. For international practice, the degree is generally recognised in countries that accept PCI-approved qualifications, though additional licensing examinations (such as FPGEE in the US or GPhC registration in the UK) may be required. SRIHER's NAAC A++ accreditation and strong research output further enhance the international credibility of the degree.
Ques. Can I pursue a PhD after completing Pharm.D (PB) from SRIHER? What are the research opportunities?
