SRIHER MD General Medicine FAQs

Ques. What DM (super-speciality) courses can I pursue after MD General Medicine from SRIHER?

Ans. After completing MD General Medicine from SRIHER, graduates are eligible to appear for NEET-SS and pursue DM in branches such as Cardiology, Endocrinology, Nephrology, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Pulmonology, Rheumatology, and Clinical Immunology. SRIHER itself offers several DM programmes, giving its own MD graduates a home advantage for super-speciality training.

Ques. How competitive is it to get MD General Medicine at SRIHER through NEET-PG?

Ans. MD General Medicine is one of the most competitive branches in NEET-PG. At SRIHER, with 24 General Quota seats in a deemed university, candidates typically need a high NEET-PG rank. Since SRIHER is a premium deemed university with high fees, the rank requirement may be relatively more accessible compared to government medical colleges, but it still demands a strong NEET-PG performance.

Ques. Is the stipend sufficient to offset the high fees at SRIHER?

Ans. The monthly stipend of Rs. 48,000-50,000 per year amounts to approximately Rs. 17-18 lakh over 3 years. Given the total course fee of approximately Rs. 96,69,000 (excluding hostel), the stipend covers roughly 17-18% of the total fees. Most students rely on education loans, family support, or scholarships to manage the remaining costs.

Ques. What is the clinical exposure like for MD General Medicine students at SRIHER?

Ans. SRIHER's teaching hospital has approximately 2,500 beds and is one of the largest private tertiary care hospitals in South India. MD General Medicine residents get exposure to a wide range of cases including tropical diseases, complex multi-system disorders, and critical care. The hospital's large ICU, diverse patient population, and super-speciality departments provide comprehensive training.

Ques. Does SRIHER offer any research opportunities for MD General Medicine students?

Ans. Yes. SRIHER has an active research environment with over 11,000 cumulative publications and an H-index of 100. MD students can participate in funded research projects, clinical trials, and the integrated MD-PhD programme offered in partnership with IIT Chennai and ICMR. The university also has collaborations with BIRAC and DBT for innovation and research funding.

Ques. What documents are required at the time of reporting to SRIHER after MCC seat allotment?

Ans. Candidates must bring: the MCC Provisional Allotment Letter, NEET-PG Admit Card and Score Card, MBBS Degree/Provisional Certificate, MBBS Internship Completion Certificate, NMC/State Medical Council Registration Certificate, MBBS Mark Statements (all years), Attempt Certificate, Transfer Certificate, Migration Certificate (for out-of-state students), Conduct Certificate, Community Certificate (if applicable), Date of Birth proof, 6 passport-size photographs, and a valid ID proof. NRI candidates must additionally produce Passport, Visa, and Embassy Certificate of the sponsor.
