SRIHER MD (Sports Medicine) FAQs
Ques. Is MD (Sports Medicine) at SRIHER a good career choice, and what are the job prospects after completing the course?
Ans. MD (Sports Medicine) is an emerging and highly rewarding specialty in India. Graduates from SRIHER can work as sports physicians, team doctors for IPL franchises, national sports federations (like SAI - Sports Authority of India), the Indian Army/Navy/Air Force, Olympic training centres, and private sports clinics. With India's growing sports ecosystem and the government's Khelo India initiative, demand for qualified sports medicine specialists is rising steadily. SRIHER's reputation as a premier medical institution adds significant value to the degree.
Ques. What is the total cost of doing MD (Sports Medicine) at SRIHER, and is the stipend sufficient to manage expenses?
Ans. The total tuition fee for the 3-year course is Rs. 96,00,000. Adding one-time charges (registration, admission form, caution deposit) and annual health insurance, the total comes to approximately Rs. 97,19,000 (excluding hostel). The monthly stipend of Rs. 48,000-50,000 over 3 years amounts to approximately Rs. 17,28,000 in total, which partially offsets the cost. Most students rely on education loans or family support for the remaining amount. Hostel accommodation (optional) costs an additional Rs. 2,00,000 per year.
Ques. How many seats are available for MD (Sports Medicine) at SRIHER, and how competitive is the admission?
Ans. There are 9 total seats - 7 under the General (AIQ) quota and 2 under the NRI quota. Given the limited seats and the fact that admission is purely NEET PG merit-based through MCC counselling, competition is intense. Candidates with a strong NEET PG rank and a preference for Sports Medicine as a specialty have a reasonable chance of securing a seat.
Ques. Can I get admission to MD (Sports Medicine) at SRIHER through management quota or direct admission?
Ans. No. Admission to MD (Sports Medicine) at SRIHER is entirely through MCC centralised counselling based on NEET PG scores. There is no separate management quota or direct admission route for this programme. NRI candidates must also go through MCC counselling under the NRI quota.
Ques. What documents are required at the time of reporting to SRIHER after MCC seat allotment?
Ans. Candidates must bring: MCC provisional allotment letter, NEET PG admit card and score card, MBBS degree/provisional certificate, MBBS internship completion certificate, NMC/State Medical Council registration certificate, MBBS mark sheets (all parts), attempt certificate, transfer certificate, migration certificate (for out-of-state students), community certificate (if applicable), Aadhaar card, PAN card, 6 passport-size photographs, and proof of fee payment via RTGS/DD. Incomplete documentation will result in denial of admission.
Ques. Does SRIHER provide hostel accommodation for MD (Sports Medicine) students, and is it mandatory?
Ans. Hostel accommodation at SRIHER is optional, not mandatory. A/C single room hostel is available at Rs. 2,00,000 per year plus a refundable caution deposit of Rs. 50,000. However, if a student opts for the hostel, mess (dining) is compulsory and the mess fee is paid separately at the mess counter. Students who prefer to stay off-campus may do so independently.
