MAHER MOT FAQs
Ques. What are the specialization options available in MOT at MAHER?
Ans. MAHER offers three specialization options in MOT: Paediatrics (focusing on children with developmental, physical, and cognitive challenges), Mental Health (focusing on psychiatric and psychological rehabilitation), and Neurological Science (focusing on neurological disorders and rehabilitation). Candidates can choose their preferred specialization during the counselling process after merit-based selection. Each specialization has a dedicated curriculum and clinical training in specialized settings.
Ques. Can I change my specialization after admission?
Ans. Specialization selection is typically finalized during the counselling process based on merit and availability of seats in each specialization. Changes in specialization after admission are generally not permitted as each specialization has a distinct curriculum and clinical training schedule. It is advisable to carefully consider your career interests and choose the specialization that aligns with your professional goals during counselling.
Ques. What is the difference between MOT and BOT?
Ans. BOT (Bachelor of Occupational Therapy) is a 4.5-year undergraduate program that provides foundational knowledge in occupational therapy across all age groups and conditions. MOT (Master of Occupational Therapy) is a 2-year postgraduate specialization that focuses on advanced clinical skills, research knowledge, and specialized expertise in a specific area. MOT graduates have deeper knowledge and are better equipped for specialized practice, teaching, and research roles.
Ques. How many seats are available in MOT at MAHER?
Ans. MAHER offers a total of 25 seats annually in the MOT program across all three specializations (Paediatrics: 10 seats, Mental Health: 5 seats, Neurological Science: 10 seats). The exact distribution may vary based on demand and university policies. Candidates should check the official MAHER website for the current year's seat distribution.
Ques. What are the prerequisites for applying to MAHER MOT programs?
Ans. Candidates must have a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks. The BOT degree must be from a full-time campus-based program (distance education is not accepted). An eligibility certificate from MAHER University is mandatory before the last date of admission. Candidates must also possess a transfer certificate from their previous college if applicable.
Ques. What is the total cost of the MOT program including all fees?
Ans. The total tuition fee for the 2-year MOT program is Rs. 2,60,000 (Rs. 65,000 per semester). This covers only tuition fees. Additional costs may include examination fees, library fees, and other miscellaneous charges. If students opt for hostel accommodation, it would cost between Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 2,50,000 per annum depending on room type.
