True experience of a SLIET Student

Likes

Infrastructure of college is very good. It has 10 boys hostel and 4 girls hostels.1 Big central library and study centre. Stadium and sports complex are there. Swimming pool is also available with time alloted. Campus has almost all amenities.
Department Labs are good and good machinery is available and technician are helpful and kind.
Some senior professors are supportive and always advise to learn new technologies.

Dislikes

Mess problems are constant, sometimes it's food quality and sometimes it's about mess management and hostel management.
Weather in summer is sometimes harsh but bearable.
Although college have many facilities administration here is slow and sometimes there is bad coordination due to which problem can be faced.

I only looked for government colleges as they are affordable and well-reputed. I applied for several colleges and got selected for IIFPT Thanjavur and GGU Bilaspur but I wanted to study mechanical engineering and out of all options, this college was best known for its mechanical engineering course and lab facilities. Some colleges I was not able to go to because of the low JEE rank, very far away from home and some due to the wrong choice of filling.

SLIET at a glance.

Likes

A beautiful lush green campus well sited outside from urban pollution.
A healthy senior junior relationship. No place for ragging.
Security is very good. All the security guards are from army background.

Dislikes

Placements are not very great. The companies visiting the campus are not very influential.
The campus is in rural area so modern outlets and malls are that present here.
Mess food ofcourse is not that great but still edible and okay.

Admission:

ultimately it just boils down to the JEE rank and it is a government college a GFTI. It was quite economical as well. I got admission through JOSSA counselling. The Process was quite simple and easy as of any other college under JOSSA.

SLIET : Campus of Nature's beauty

Likes

Infrastructure of the college is so great it is in about 450 acres.
They have so many sport activities like they have gymanism and swimming pool also.
They have a very great library and a reading room and there are about 1 lakhs books available here.

Dislikes

It is situated far from the main city which is the very great drawback of this.
Gender ratio here is very bad and it is doesn't seems like a co-ed education.
Hostel rooms are not in the proper situation.It should be renovated.

I also applied for tejpur university and also got admission but I didn't get this college because of there location and infrastructure. Yes I got a rejection from nit college because my rank was not upto for getting this college. The admission process of this college is through jossaa and csab counselling the eligibility criteria is 75% in 12th board and jee mains exam are accepted for this college the most exam is jee main which is preferred by students, and also cutoff for cse is high and the admission experience is good

Likes

Here in my college infrastructure is very good,there are natural lakes,well auditorium
The campus was soo greenary and there are many different types of tree and plants are available
There are student activity centre called SAC also swiming pool,gym,open gym, stadium , football ground which I most like.

Dislikes

The main drawback of the college is situated far from the city
The mess food of the hostel are below average level which should be needs to be improved.
The gender ratio of the college is very bad which makes feel so bad.

Admission:

As I scored a decent percentile in the jee mains exam.So, I've some chances to get in the lower nits and lower branch but like Nit Rourkela, Manipur etc.But I wants to pursue my career in the computer science so I've to choose that one college where I got CS branch. It is a CFTI having some decent placements score and one of the main point is the fee of the college is some low from the other colleges. Not at all I got the other colleges but not the CS branch that's why I didn't choose that colleges over this. They take students on the basis of the Jee Mains exam which is an renowned engineering exam.The cutoff for the getting admission is decent you to secure some decent rank to get in the college.The admission process is so smooth without any kind of barriers.

Campus is full of green trees and good construction of buildings

Dislikes

Girl to boy ratio is very bad in each department
Also here diploma students are studying which should need to stop and make entry based on only jee mains exam.

I got this college that time (in 2024) because I don't have good marks in jee mains and this college have not good nirf ranking that time but after coming to college the nirf ranking get improved from 182+ to 76th which is not bad. Due to improvement in nirf jee mains cutoff will also increase this year (2025).

Likes

Infrastructure is Very good even it is better than some north east NIT
It has Lush green campus and it look very beautiful during rainy days
Faculties are quite experienced and helpful

Dislikes

Campus is outside city which is about 18 km from nearby city Sangrur
During Summer season temperature rises upto 45 to 50 degree celsius
Connectivity of the college should to be improved

Admission:

I choosed this college because, it has better infrastructure, it provides all the facilities for students that is required. Student can get admission via Jee Mains through JOSSA / CSAB counselling for Degree domain. Admission experience is good

Campus critic

Likes

College campus is too big and full of lust green trees.
There is swimming pool, shopping complex, health centre,2 different lakes,sports facility.
Student came here from all over India ,from mizoram to gujrat and from Kashmir to kanyakumari.girls boys ration is too good and much better than IIT and nit.

Dislikes

Mess food is not so good ,so many student suffered from health issues.
Manage are not interested in organising sports activities and other culture event for student.
There is fixed timing for girls hostel.its closes at 7pm.any most of the event happened in days.

Admission:

I got this college through jee mains marks and jossa counselling. This college is central government funded college and comes Under GFTI .My jee mains score was quite good and I also appeared for jee advanced examination. so i didnot goes for any private college for my admission in b.tech. I rejected some college like Tezpur University, nifft and few colleges from northeast and south India. I don't get any seat in NIT college because my jee mains score was not that good so i did not got any seat in jossa and csab counselling to get admission to nit college.

Likes

Lush greenery in the campus and campus size.
Lots of clubs for students to do extra activities
Hostel are quite good and near and clean

Dislikes

Campus is situated in rural area. Take time to go city.
Transportation problem there are limited no of buses to go to city.
Well campus in not Fully utilised as many of the central government institutions.

Admission:

For choosing the college there might be reason that I want to do mechanical Engineering and here M.E is better than other branches.Amf placement are quite good in M.E There is three ways of admission 1.Jee mains As this is cfti so there will to attend jossa and csab counselling for getting the college 2. Leet exam You can come directly in 2nd year through the exam and college level counselling. 3. This exam is for the polytechnic/diploma courses which is also a college level exam.

I liked the campus size and greenary of campus the most
Most of the faculties are PhD in there respective fields
New buildings or blocks are quite good while the old ones are ok

Dislikes

There's no any official freshers from college
Fests like techfest and maduram are not so good
If you are an introvert its quite gard for you too socialize

Admission:

I didn't choose this college i applied for lots of college like NITs and IIIts But for GFTIs I found this ine fhe best and fact is this time our college ranking is now 76 in NIRF For admission give JEE mains exam and go for Jossa or CSAb counselling
