SLIET SET 2026: SET-V Application Open till 5 August, Exam Pattern, Syllabus and Counselling

SLIET SET 2026 is the entrance test conducted by the Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Longowal (Punjab) for admission to its Integrated Certificate-Diploma (ICD), B.E. Lateral Entry, Integrated M.Sc., M.Sc., M.Sc.(Tech), MBA, M.Tech and Ph.D. programmes. The main test cycle (SET-I, IA, II, III, IV, VI and VII) was conducted in May 2026 and the result for these papers was declared on 18 May 2026. As of today, the institute is running the Round 3 counselling against the cutoff notified on 6 June 2026, and the SET-V (Ph.D.) cycle is open.

• SET-V (Ph.D.) Application: The online application window for SET-V is open and will close on 5 August 2026. Last year, the Ph.D. window closed in the first week of August and was not extended.
• SET-V (Ph.D.) Exam Date: SET-V will be held on 6 August 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in pen-and-paper mode at the Longowal campus. The paper carries 100 objective questions for 100 marks.
• SET-V (Ph.D.) Result: The Ph.D. result is expected on 7 August 2026, a day after the exam. SLIET has followed the same next-day result pattern for SET-V for the last 3 years.
• SET-V Counselling: Offline counselling for Ph.D. seats is scheduled for the first week of September 2026. Counselling for all other programmes (Round 3 onwards) is happening online on the SET portal.

What is SLIET SET 2026?

SLIET SET 2026 is the Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology Entrance Test, conducted every year by SLIET, Longowal for admission to its Certificate, Diploma, Degree, Postgraduate and Doctoral programmes. SLIET is a Deemed-to-be-University set up by the Ministry of Education, Government of India in 1989, and runs as a fully residential, technology-focused campus in Sangrur district, Punjab.

The exam is unique because SLIET does not run a single common test. Instead, it conducts seven separate papers (SET-I, IA, II, III, IV, V, VI and VII), each linked to a specific programme and entry level. You should apply only for the SET paper that matches the course you want.

SLIET SET is a national-level exam. Candidates from across India appear for the test, and admissions are also offered through national counselling bodies like JoSAA, CSAB, CCMT and CCMN for B.E. and M.Tech seats. SLIET SET 2026 Application Form

The SLIET SET 2026 application form is filled online through the SET portal. You can start by visiting set.sliet.ac.in and clicking on "New Registration" if you are filling the form for the first time. Registered users can log in directly with their credentials.

The application is a five-step process. You should complete each step carefully because the form will not be submitted if any step is left incomplete.

• Step 1 - Registration: Enter your name, mobile number, email ID and create a password.
• Step 2 - Personal Details: Fill in your category, parents’ details, address and academic background.
• Step 3 - Programme Selection: Choose the SET paper you want to appear for (SET-I, IA, II, III, IV, V, VI or VII).

SLIET SET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

The SLIET SET 2026 eligibility differs for each SET paper because each paper feeds into a different programme. You should check the eligibility for the specific SET paper you plan to take.

SLIET does not set an upper age limit for any SET paper. So you can apply at any age as long as you meet the academic requirement. For SET-I (ICD), the candidate should usually be at least 14 years old at the time of admission.

For postgraduate papers, the syllabus is based on the corresponding bachelor’s degree curriculum. So if you are taking SET-VII for M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, the syllabus will cover B.Tech-level Mechanical Engineering topics.

SET-V Syllabus (Ph.D.)

The SET-V paper covers research aptitude, research methodology and the specific subject area in which the candidate is applying for the Ph.D. programme. You should focus heavily on your master’s degree syllabus and recent research trends in your area.

SLIET SET 2026 Admit Card

The SLIET SET 2026 admit card is released on the official SET portal a few days before each exam. You can download it by logging in with your application number and password. SLIET does not send the admit card by post or email.

For the main SET papers (SET-I to VII except V), admit cards were issued in the first week of May 2026 and the exam was held in the second week of May 2026. For SET-V (Ph.D.), the admit card is expected in the first week of August 2026.
