How is Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology? How are the campus and the placements?

My brother graduated in B.Tech (CS) from Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology. I have heard about the advantages and disadvantages of enrolling in SLIET. Campus:- The campus is moderately large with 448 acres. Fully furnished labs, well-maintained furniture, and a huge library with a good collection of books and journals, and research papers. It has 13 clean hostels with a very good connection of high-speed LAN. It has sports facilities, medical services, a temple, a Gurudwara, ATM, banks, a shopping complex, and student activity centers. One huge stadium to play multiple sports such as cricket, football, etc, a swimming pool, one beautiful lake, and two ponds, a hygienic canteen, and a restaurant with multiple eating joints. Placements:- If you spend your four years in this university, it wouldn’t be a waste of your money. Earlier, the placement of this college wasn’t good enough but last year a total of 41 companies visited the university and 195 students got placed in the best companies. Due to COVID, the placement is still in progress. The top recruiters who came to the university in 2020 were Cognizant, Hindustan Unilever Limited, Nestle India, Capgemini, Softstar, Nature Bio Food, TCS, Ralson, Godrej, and many more. Thus, the University keeps academics on priority and fun at the same time.

What is the placement scenario for food tech at Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology?

To be honest, it's negligible; yes, this is the word that no one wants to hear when deciding on a career path. But why should I brag if it's not true? So here's why: First, unlike EE or mechanical, food technology is not a core branch. India is still a developing country, and we consume less processed food than people in Western countries. The vast majority of the population is vegetarian and animal products require most of the processing. Even though we have access to processed foods in the market, we prefer to purchase local items at the local market than from a supermarket. The same thing occurs with fruits and vegetables. Because there is no room for negotiation in the sealed product, and it is quite expensive, it has gone through a series of processing units Food technology is not a bad field but its scope is much wider in foreign countries than in India. You can go for a PG course from some of the best colleges like CFTRIS, and develop other necessary skills. You will barely be able to get a decent job in S.L.I.E.T with only a graduate degree, but before you take food tech, think properly that you really want to do it or not.

How are SLIET placements? Where u look sliet aftrr 5 years in terms of placement and standard?

As per our market research placements at SLIET are okay right now. Students from Computer and Electronics branches get better jobs, with average salaries between INR 3 LPA to INR 6 LPA. For other branches, it depends more on how skilled the students are and if the student has done internships. In the next 5 years, SLIET can get much better if it brings more companies, improves training.

How are the placement opportunities at SLIET for core branches like Mechanical, ECE, and Electrical?

Placement opportunities for core branches at SLIET are decent but also competitive. Companies like TATA, L&T, and a few PSUs do visit, but the number of core companies is limited compared to IT. Most students prepare for GATE or look for off-campus options. However, if you have good technical skills and maintain a strong CGPA, you have a fair shot.

Are internships mandatory or useful for placements at SLIET?

Internships are not mandatory at SLIET, but they are very useful for getting good placements. Doing an internship gives you real-world experience, helps you build skills, and makes your resume stronger. Many companies prefer students who have done internships because it shows you're ready for work. In fact, some students even get job offers directly from their internship companies. So, while not compulsory, internships are a smart step if you want better placements from SLIET.

Placements are not very great. The companies visiting the campus are not very influential.

So the college placements are a bit average honestly. Average in-hand package is around 4.5 lpa. Companies like L&T, Mahindra, JSW,Khanna Paper Mill visit for core. In CSE companies like Infosys, TCS and other not so big companies do visit.

Student Snaps:

From 3rd semester students become eligible for campus placement. There are soo many companies are visiting in this college such as tcs, infosys, mahindra ,deltax, Khanna mills, wipro ,jindal steel etc. The highest package was 19lakh off campus placement and average package is 5 lakh most of the company offers. The percentage of students getting placed are 80% and remaining are prepared for gate exam and for higher studies. My plans after getting the degree to get a good placement offers and also preparing for gate exam for master degree.

From semester six or seven or say from the third year the students are eligible to apply in the placements drive.There are so many companies visited here like Wipro,TCS and Mahindra etc. And they made some decent packages to the students if the student is intelligent then definitely it secured some good placements. The average package of the college is about 5 lpa and the highest package is about 19 lpa which is from off campus. Most of the students are getting opt for the higher education and done M tech from the good colleges. And getting jobs in the PSUs also. After getting the degree I opt to choose the job in my particular interest and then after few years Im gonna do my higher studies abroad.

Placement of mechanical engineering in this college is not too bad because mostly students got average package of 500000 to 700000. But other branch like electronic and electrical have not good placements here , students should make their own efforts for placements.

Placements of our college is good and it provides and average package of around 5lpa including all branches CSE average package is more than 6lpa Companies like Infosys, TCS, WABAG, Wipro, Hindustan Unilever, Amul, etc Highest package is 18lpa last year and this year it goes to 27lpa Overall placement percentage is around 70% Many students go for higher study

Students are eligible for placement in 3rd year but college only help 4th year student in their placement.3rd placement depend on your potential. Major recruiter of this college is infosys,jindal steel , britannia,Wagah limited, Hindustan Unilever Limited etc..the package of this college is twenty one lakh acquired by chemical engineering student.and average package is 6lakhs.

The student are eligible for campus placement from 7 sem. There are no companies like maruti suzuki, tcs ,wipro,deltax ,JSW ,L and T due bad ranking many companies don't come for several years but now the ranking has improved so companies like amazon microsoft mahendra will come. The persent of students getting placed is above 85 percent.

From the 7th semester studenst are eligible for college placements and from 5th semester they are eligible for interships and pre placement offers Lots of companies visited like L&T , Mahindra Swaraj, Ibm etc Highest placemst is around 20lpa and average is of 4lpa I am planing to givc GATE exams or do any decent job

I think the placement of the college is not so good becoz it is present in the out of the city area which makes companies to hard to reach.Its avg package may be 5 LPA. But the ranking of the college now is so good which may be helps in the placements. But you know the students should be well prepared for the interviews but alas they don't pass there exams. Most of the students opt for the higher studies.
