Which is better for civil, IIT Mandi or IIT Ropar?

Both IIT Mandi and IIT Ropar are well-respected engineering institutions. The institute which is most suitable for you depends on your individual needs and preferences. Some parameters you would like to consider are location, campus culture, research opportunities, and faculty expertise. In my opinion, IIT Ropar fares better in terms of infrastructure, college life, labs, and resources. IIT Mandi on the other hand is lacking in terms of infrastructure and its campus is still in the development phase. The facilities and infrastructure are crucial to a conducive learning environment and IIT Mandi has failed to do so. IIT Mandi is also located remotely and thus students cannot avail of facilities easily and the exposure offered is also limited. IIT Mandi labs have failed to meet IIT standards and are decked with outdated equipment. The labs of the School of Engineering and the School of Computing and Electrical Engineering are not at all good and have very limited operational capacities. Keeping all the above factors in mind, it's better to go for IIT Ropar. How is civil engineering at IIT Ropar?

The Civil Engineering dept. at IIT Ropar believes in growing as well as standing out. The Head of the Department, Professor Deepak Kashyap is a highly experienced member of the faculty and has taught at IIT Roorkee. The students look up to him a lot. If we talk about the infrastructure, then new and advanced labs have been commissioned. In addition to that, a state-of-the-art Soil-Water-Plant lab has been set up which covers an area of 2.5 acres in the new campus. A number of text and reference books journals for research have been procured by the institute to be made available for the students for their convenience. The faculty is in constant interaction with the authorities of the Government of Punjab for organizing activities that involve collaboration. They have already conducted several studies in consulting and also building a training program for PUDA engineers. A computer model of groundwater flow and transport that is comprehensive is also being developed. Recently, the Newton-Bhabha has offered INR 1 crore as financial backing to the first research project of the department of civil engineering. Fees per year for obc/gen is 135000, for sc/st/pwd it's 35,000 or for people having avg income below 5lpa is also 35000. Scholarship is both merit and condition-based for anyone having AIR below 2000 in JEE adv full education is free.

IIT Ropar: A dream comes true

From first year to third year I have paid 135000 inclusive of all the things like library , Gymkhana etc. Tution fees is 1 lakh , registration fees is 10000,and all others combined we have to pay 25000. For income level less than 1 lakh and category such as SC ST ,tution fees is not applicable, they have to pay 35000 only. Students get merit scholarships of 10000 rs based on cgpa they got .

The tution fee is 1 lakh per semester. The students with family income less than 1 lakh per annum can avail 100 % scholarchip, students with income 1-5 lakh can avail 66% scholarship in tution fee. SC/ST students have 100% scohalarship regardless of their income.

Academic level like other IITS is of good level so you have to give time for passing the exams.

For Family income >5 lac, Academic fees is around 8,58,200 for the course. For Family income between 1 to 5 lac, Academic fees is around 324872. For family income less than 1 lac or SC/ST Category, Academic fees is around 58200. Scholarships are also available in IIT Ropar for family income less 4.5lacs in which students are exempted for tution fees but student have to maintian CGPA >6

Truths about IIT Ropar

This is a good boon to get into IIT. The students below 5 lack income and have to pay just 33% fees which is around 34k. Below 1 lakh income has to pay no tution fees. there is a variety of financial aids and scholarships which give 37k every semester to students.

All about campus life

For 4 years of btech course, the overall fees will go up to 9-10 lakhs which include tuition fees, hostel fees, and mess fees. I don't apply for a scholarship yet but there are various options for scholarships in between 4 years.

The total fee is 107600 and I don't remember the exact fee structure but I remember the total fee is 107600 and the hostel fee is 1500 not included in the tuition fees. I didn't avail of any scholarship ship and I paid complete fees.

The fee structure is that we have to pay 118000 per semester and there is some hostel and mess security charge which we had paid at the time of admission. there are scholarships for students who are from poor backgrounds.

Life in iit ropar after an immense struggle

The fee structure is based on the category to which a student belongs. If you belong to a general category it costs about 1 lakh but if you are from some other category like OBC it will cost you one-third of the total admission fees if you are an sc or ST candidate then your tuition fee is completely zero. There is no need to buy books because there is a library on campus that issues books at no cost. I go to a scholarship because I am from the OBC category and in addition to that I got a scholarship called MCM.
