VSSUT: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 378 Reviews

The college has a robust faculty structure, with a faculty-to-student ratio of approximately 1:15. There are over 300 faculty members, of whom 80-90% hold Ph.D. degrees, primarily from prestigious institutions like IITs and NITs. The faculty members are described as knowledgeable, experienced, and generally approachable, with a focus on providing both theoretical and practical education. The faculty includes some very senior members, with teaching experience exceeding 28 years. The college conducts two main exams per semester: a mid-semester exam worth 30 marks and an end-semester exam worth 50 marks, with an additional 20 marks allocated by the faculty based on assignments and attendance.

While most faculty members are dedicated and helpful, some are noted to be less engaged or overly strict, particularly regarding attendance. The overall faculty quality is high, contributing to a positive learning environment.

Faculty:

Most of faculties have a good approach towards learning and make understand the concept. The faculty to student ratio is terrible. It's around 1:70. But some of the faculties don't have a proper handwriting. It's very hard to understand the way the explain every bit. Mrs Sarmila Garnaik, Associate professor in the department of electrical and electronics engineering. She is the most relaxed person I have ever seen. She taught Universal Human Values in First year. This was one of the best experience of learning in the start. There is a total of 16 exams both mid semester and End semester examination. Midsem are quite harder as compared to end semester examination. Most of the students start studying for any exam before one day of the examination. But 99 percent student pass through every examination. Our course curriculum has freshly changed due to NEP 2020. But the curriculum is same as old one.

Faculty:

The faculty members are well qualified and are very experienced. In some branches like ece there are huge number of faculty member and also each student is assigned a mentor teacher. Also mechanical branch also have good number of faculty members. And in other branches like mme production the student teacher ratio is good. In electrical branches the teachers are good though the ratio is a little less. In csit the faculties for pg studies are better than ug and it feels a bit outdated as they don't incorporate new technologies in their teaching same old methodology is used though they are csit teachers. Coming to the exam part there are two exams conducted in each semester the mid sem comprises of a total 30 marks and end sem of 50 marks and an internal mark of 20 makes the total of 100 for each subject. Out of which the final grade is evaluated. Passing the paper depends on the faculty who check the copy. While some faculty are relaxed while some are strict. If your total is less than 40 in a subject out of 100 then you are considered to be failed. And have to give back papers in summer vacation.

Some faculties have old style of teaching and they teaches too slowly. But most of the faculties are approachable and solve doubts in their free times. We have to give 2 exams in each semester, mid semester exam and end semester exam. Mid sem is of 30 marks and end sem is of 50 marks. Rest 20 marks depends on your attendance, assignments, performance in class etc. End sem is comparatively more harder than mid sem exam

In our college the faculty system is good as compare to other college.one thing that I like most is that the teaching style of teachers. There are specific and experienced teachers allocated for specific subject. They traind us for a better placement.I like all the teachers that I studied by them. The exam system is good ,first student are checked by the guard then Enter into the classroom .In each exam hall more than three teachers are present.Thay help us for the time manegement. The marking system is much more better.Teachers mark according the student which he/she write .The lab class are good.Classes are held in proper time management. There is better coordination between teachers.
