How can I change my course from a dual degree to a B-Tech degree in IIT-Bhubaneswar?

Most IITs do not allow changing courses from dual degree to a B.Tech degree. However, you can shift from a B.Tech degree to a dual degree. The rules regarding the change of course in IIT Bhubaneswar are the same as other IITs. In IIT Bhubaneswar, only those students will be eligible to be considered for branch change after the second(spring) semester, who have- Completed all the credits required in the first two semesters of their studies. CGPA not lower than 8.5 at the end of the second semester. Students in the 4th year of B.Tech courses are also eligible to apply for a change of branch in any engineering (4-Year or 5-Year dual degree) course. But the selection is strictly based on merit of the applicants. Generally, applicants who rank in the top 1% are considered first. In case of ties, the deciding factor is the JEE rank of the applicants. Students who are interested in changing their courses may enlist up to 5 choices of branch according to their preference.

Semester fees for every semester are around 1.12 lakh, with Tuition Fees 1 lakh, and others are rest of the amount changes semester to semester. Tuition Fees are 100% waived off for SC and ST students and for economically weaker students (family income less than 5 lakh per annum). Some students are also awarded a scholarship with 50% tuition fee remission and 1/3rd tuition fee remission based on the criteria. Some banks and reputable companies also provide scholarships for students with economically weaker backgrounds.

Talking about the fee, it is about 1.5 lakh per semester. Also most of the scholarships are onky for sc, st caste students which weive off their tuition fee completely. They only had to pay for hostel and mess fee. My friend from cs branch has the scholarship and has to pay only 12000 or something fee.

First time experience in an IIT

The tution fees is 1 lakh per semester i.e 2 lakhs per year,as there are two semesters in an year.The hostel fees of about 20 thousand rupees including about mess and stay .The price for each day is about 150 rupees for food which is cut from the mess fees paid at the starting of the semester . This tution fees is not applicable for other category people like ews and sc/st .

City is also close so that we don't need to spend much on autos.Teachers are friendly and didn't even expect that kind of behaviour from those experienced faculty. Curriculum is also very decent for all branches and cources.

Generally open category students will have fee 100000 INR tution fee, 19000 INR institute fee and 18000 INR of mess fee ,per semester. For students with 100000 to 300000 annual income, tution fee is 33333 INR and rest same. For students with less than 100000 income or SC or ST or PWD tution fee is nil. They just have to pay mess and institute fee. Other scolarships options are also available. If we opt for those this fee remission is not valid.
