What was the toughest course you took at IIT Bombay?

There is a course called CS207 Discrete Structures taught by Professor Ajit Diwan. It was related to Discrete Mathematics - Number Theory, Graph Theory, Combinatorics, Sets, and Groups, and was one of the most difficult courses my friend came across. Professor Diwan is well known for his highly challenging problems and course material. During his lectures, he delivers a lot of information based on principles. For math lovers, his classes are an absolute delight. He refrains from conducting more than one exam a month. However, the level of difficulty of the exam is high. The questions look very complicated but when one ponders upon them, they don’t seem that difficult. The exams were extremely difficult to the extent that the passing cutoff was 7 out of 100 marks. Despite the entire batch consisting of JEE toppers, a lot of them were not able to make it to the cutoff.

How is the operation research MSc and PhD dual degree in IIT Bombay?

The course Operations Research offered at IIT Bombay is an integrated Ph.D. course. Duration: The course duration is 6 years, while the minimum is 5 years. It depends on how much time you take to complete your PhD. You can even extend it more than 6 years but won’t be receiving any stipend for the same. Another option is to opt out of an MSc degree after 3 years. Compensation: Students are paid around INR 6000/- month for 2 years and then INR 25000 from third year. Department: This course is offered by the IEOR( Industrial Engineering and Operations Research) department of IIT Bombay which is considered the best in India. The academic workload is high especailly during exams.

At IITB my annual fees is around 1.37 lakhs as tution fees is are waived for ST category students. The total cost over 4 years is around 5.5 to 6 lakhs. While many schorlarship like merit cum and NSP are available, I have not applied for any yet. Fees have gradually increased.

The curriculum and research opportunties are outstanding.

The year wise fees I am paying is nearly 2,80,000. 2,00,000 is the tution fees. 26,000 is hostel fees, 45,000 is mess fees. 2200 is gymkhana fees 2200 is examination fees, 600 is SAIF(student accident insurance fund) and 1800 is SBF and 2000 is medical fees.

Yearly fees around 2 lakh 50000 which includes hostel fee which is around 50000 yearly. For SC and ST candidates institution fees very less. I am from EWS category so some amount of my institution fee is refunded. I am also getting Pradhanmantri Shiksha Nidhi Yojana scholarship which is 40000 yearly.

The year wise fee at IIT Bombay is 3,06,000,it is not increasing and fixed for a batch. For general category Tution fee is around 2,14,000 per year , mess fee is 45,000 and the hostel fee is 47,000. Around 3 lakh per year i paid and this is normally all pays. Tution fees is Around 1 lakh, and mess fee is 22,500 per semester For sc st their is no tution fees and also free messing and they can get scholarship easily. A scholarship "named scholarship" gives almost whole amout for those who are eligible and needy. Many private scholarship like Reliance scholarship gives 2 lakh over four year cousre.

classes are very big. the professors are excellent and everything you have learnt will be tested atleast once in 2-3 weeks.

tuition : 100000 per semester hostel and mess and miscelleneous:70000 per semester for sc,st no tuition fees. merit cum mean scholarship: tuition fee reimbursement that depends on the income that you get anually.

Yes, the course requires an entrance examination. It conducts GATE for admission which will be followed by a personal interview or group discussion round. It will be followed by the CCMT counseling round.
