As per the Quora Discussion on IIM Kozhikode interview experience, candidates report that the WAT topic is revealed only at the venue, giving 20 to 25 minutes for the essay. The personal interview panel of two to three members tends to go deep into prior work experience and academic background, with questions tailored to each candidate’s profile rather than following a fixed script.

Minimum Cutoff vs Actual Shortlist Cutoff
The minimum CAT cutoff only determines eligibility for the next stage; it does not guarantee an IIM Kozhikode interview call. Candidates who meet the minimum criteria enter the registration/shortlisting process, after which IIMK prepares the category-wise shortlist using AIS. The AIS considers CAT performance, Class 10 and 12 academics, work experience, and gender/academic diversity
Selection Criteria
IIM Kozhikode follows a three-stage selection process for admission. The process includes registration, shortlisting based on the Aggregate Index Score, and the final selection through PI and WAT.
Stage 1: Online Registration
- Only candidates who complete the registration are considered for Stage 2.
Stage 2: Shortlisting via Aggregate Index Score (AIS)
IIM Kozhikode prepares a category-wise shortlist based on the Aggregate Index Score (AIS).
- The AIS considers factors such as:
- CAT performance
- Class X and XII academic performance
- Work experience
- Gender and academic diversity
- Candidates must select IIM Kozhikode during CAT registration to be considered for shortlisting.
- Shortlisted candidates proceed to the final selection stage.
Note: Selection details are based on the 2026-2028 policy; the 2027-29 policy is yet to be released.
Stage 3: Final Selection Weightage
The final merit list is prepared based on AIS, WAT, and PI performance, followed by admission offers as per merit and reservation norms.

Common Mistakes That Can Hurt an IIMK Application
- Treating the minimum CAT percentile as a guaranteed shortlist cutoff.
- Ignoring WAT and PI preparation after receiving a shortlist.
- Incorrectly calculating or reporting eligible work experience.
- Assuming the same admission criteria apply to PGP, PGP-Finance and PGP-LSM.
- Focusing only on CAT preparation while overlooking academic and profile components
How to Apply for PGP at IIM Kozhikode?
- Register for CAT 2026 at iimcat.ac.in between Aug 3 and Sep 15, 2026. Select IIM Kozhikode as a preferred institute during registration.
- After CAT results (tentative Dec 24, 2026), IIMK will send Stage 2 registration emails to eligible candidates.
- Complete Stage 2 registration on the IIMK portal at iimk.ac.in/apps/Admission/PGP/Login and pay the application fee of INR 3,000.
- Appear for WAT and PI at the assigned city centre on the scheduled dates.
- Track Stage 3 offer and waitlist status through the AIMS portal at aims.iimk.ac.in.
Key Note: CAT percentile alone does not determine the IIMK shortlist. Candidates with 90-plus percentile but weak Class X or XII marks have been rejected at Stage 2. A strong academic record across all three parameters (CAT, Class X, Class XII) significantly improves AIS ranking.
