As per the eligibility criteria for B.Tech programs at CUSAT, the applicants must have cleared their +2 from a recognized board/university with 60% overall. They must have taken Physics, Chemistry and Maths in their 11th and 12th, and scored at least 50% in Maths. They must have also attained 50% in their Physics, Chemistry and Maths scores put together.
This eligibility criteria applies to you as well. Certain communities from Kerala are provided relaxation, but this does not apply to students from outside Kerala.
Like any other institution, CUSAT has its own pros and cons.

The placement opportunities are good enough for B.Tech IT students at CUSAT. The main requirement is a good CGPA in all first 6 semesters of the degree, a good coding knowledge, and soft skills like communication.
You can acquire soft skills by participating in extracurricular activities during your degree. Infosys, Oracle, Amazon, Microsoft, TCS Digital, Nissan Digital, Envestnet, Unisys and IBM are some of the companies that recruit IT students from the CUSAT campus.

Placements for Mtech Instrumentation Technology at Cochin University of Science and Technology are moderate. Students become eligible for placements from the third semester. Companies from Electronic, automation, software, and core engineering field visit the campus. The average package is around 5-7 LPA, and placement opportunities mainly depends on student skills and projects. Many students choose higher studies, research after completing the course.

The faculty members are experienced and technically strong. Most teachers are friendly, approachable and helpful for academics,projects and research work. The faculty student ratio is good since Mtech batches are small , so students got better interactions with professors. Some faculty members are very supportive and teachers explain concepts with practical examples are usually liked by students. However, a few faculty members are very theory oriented and strict im evaluation, which some students may not prefer. The course curriculum is relevant and covers subjects like industrial automation, process control, embedded systems, signal processing and research oriented topics. Labs,seminars, project works , and a final year thesis are also included. The exam system is moderately difficult and includes internal exams , assignments, seminars, and end semester university exams. Marks arr divided between internal assessments and external marks. Students who attend classes regularly and study consistently can clear exams and failure rate is generally low in Mtech batches

Campus life is enjoyable and student friendly. The campus has a good social environment with students from different backgrounds. Technical and cultural fests are conducted regularly, usually during the academic year ad students actively participate in events, workshops,arts and sports activities. The library has good collection of academic books, journals, digital resources useful for the studies. Classrooms and labs have basic technical facilities, WiFi access and necessary equipment for learning. The university also offers sports facilities, extracurricular activities, student clubs and technical forums that help students improve teamwork, communication, and social interaction. These activities make campus life more active and engaging.

The hostel facilities are good and there are many university hostels for students. Rooms have basic facilities like cot, table, chair, fan. The hostel atmosphere is comfortable for studies and student life. The mess food is average with both vegetarian and non vegetarian options. Hostel admission is simple after course admission and the fees are affordable compared to private pg, rented rooms near the campus
