The syllabus is not tough but lengthy, the classes and works aur too hectic here you will able to get enough to explore new things, see new domains work on your interests...
The old pattern of labs conduction, record prep. is going and all are still following the old rough protocols for it... by the college that should be renewed time by time either lab program or syllabus.

Then there is library fee of 2440 Career development fee of 1220 Health care facilities 1220 Student activities fee 5470 Campus amenities 1220 etc All these extra payments only need to be made in the first sem of the year. Hostel rent (water/electricity charge) 7300 And then total fees comes to 154730 per year

If earning a hefty package from a job is your dream, it's better not to opt for Civil engineering. While there is some scope for growth in this field, the construction industry in India is not yet mature enough to offer salaries comparable to those in the software industry. Managers in the software industry often earn the same amount as director-level employees in the construction industry.
While you may think that there is less competition in Civil engineering, this is not necessarily the case. Every year, a large number of Civil engineers graduate from colleges all over India, saturating the construction industry. This means that there is a lot of competition for jobs in this field.
If you have a family business in construction or plan to start one in the future, then pursuing Civil engineering may be a good option for you. In this case, it may be helpful to join a nearby college and get involved in construction activities simultaneously with your studies. There is very little demand for civil engineers here in the Indian markets. Unfortunately, not many skilled civil engineers are output from any Indian engineering college.

The curriculum of all engineering colleges hasn’t been updated for over a decade and it is not at all in sync with the current needs and requirements of the civil industry.
Most of the civil engineers who pass out from the reputed colleges across India are either offered computer programming jobs with a package of 5-10 LPA on an average or become managers in the industry.
The reality of civil engineering in India is quite a sad sight to look at and the students are paying with their twisted career choices for it.

On the basis of academics, if a college has to be chosen between NIT Surathkal and NIT Hamirpur for a B. Tech civil engineering course, one should look at the different perspectives that are given below.

NIT Surathkal:

NIRF ranked NIT Surathkal as the 21st best engineering college in 2019. The college has an amazing faculty for civil engineering most of the teachers that are in NITSurathkal have acquired Ph.D. degrees and a minimum teaching average of 2 years. The admission to the BTech Civil program is through JEE Mains.

Placements:

NIT Surathkal in the academic year of 2019 witnessed a 100% placement percentage.
There were around 60 companies present to give jobs to the B. Tech students.
A total of 97 students opted for placements for B. Tech civil engineering course, out of which all of them got the placements.

Placements:

There were a total of 49 jobs that were offered by the companies to the students.
There were around 41 students placed out of the total 63 students making a percentage of 71.33% of placements.
The top recruiters that came to college were Accenture, Wipro, Oracle, Samsung, Godrej, Bajaj, Reliance, HSBC, Jugnoo, Ashok Leyland, Bloomberg, and Ascon.
