My brother has graduated from NIT Surathkal in 2018 and completed his BTech in Information Technology. According to his experience, the department had helpful and brilliant students, although the faculty was a mixture of average and good professors. The CSE and IT departments are the most sought after and have an average placement rate of 90%-100%, so here are some more facts regarding the same- The faculty is not that good due to two factors, firstly because it is not as dedicated to research as are those in IITs. For instance, IIT Bombay is excellent in research initiatives. Secondly, the department requires 15-20 full-time faculty members, but currently, there are about 10-12 assistant professors on an ad-hoc basis, some of them do not even possess a Ph.D. Lastly, the teachers are not very adept at communicating better. Some seniors had been much more helpful in the understanding of concepts by students. However, the department is free of petty politics unlike the CSE department, where there's a bit of tiff between the teachers and students. Hello, i am a first year student from nit suratkal.i choosed IT branch in suratkal as it is 2nd top nit and as it has its own reputation. So when we talk about the fee structure the tution fee per semester is 62500. And only for 1st semister there are so many other kinds of fee such as security deposit 6710,convocation fee 3310, institute admission fee 1340,career development fee 2210, health care facility fee of 1670,computing resource fee of 3350,over all total fee for a dayscolar is 99070 per semester. And the hostel fee per semester is 8820 per semester so total fee for a hostler is 107890per semester.

Great campus life with good placement and private beach, a place like heaven for engineering

We have semester wise fee structure. Those having family income less than 1Lakh, they dont need to pay Tution fees. Apart from that we have one time fees like Institute Admission fee, Security Deposity (refundable), NITK Alma Mater Endowment, Convocation fee. We also give Development fees for 1st and 2nd sem only (1st year only). Some of the fees like Career Development fee, Health Care Facility, Students Activities Fees, Campus Amenties, Group Insurance Coverage of Students are to paid only for odd-sems.And apart from than we have mess fee,hostel fee and library resourse fee to paid for every sem.For scholarships students can actually check int the nitk website.

The Tution fee for each semester is 62500 i.e., 1.25 lakhs per year. The total institute fee for 1 year would be around 1.5 lakhs excluding the hostel and mess fees. The hostel and mess fees would be around 34310 for Odd semesters and 33790 for even semesters. There are more than 10 scholarships offered for the students of NITK . Entire tuition fee is free for students who earn less than 1 lpa.

Honest opinion

The fee structure is divided into two parts for each semester one it is hostel fees and other it is tuition fees. Tuition fees is around 76,000 and hostel fees is around 30,000 nearly as I was not applicable for any scholarship and financial assistance. I don't have any knowledge about the campus employment opportunities as I was not applicable for any of them because I was selected in open category.

NITK - Abode by the beach!

The complete cost per semester here is 1.4 lakhs, including everything. So it is 2.8 lakhs per year. There is close to zero increase policy. They give fee waivers for students with SC/ST categories and for others with less income.

There different fee structure for students depending on the category they come from i.e. general , obc sc and st. Detailed fee structure for academic as well as hostel is provided in nitk website to which you can refer. Our college has two banks, SBI and canara which offer student loans at a very affordable interest rates. Our college also offers fee remession to students whose family income is less than 1 lakh and also for those whose income is less than 5 lakh. Therefore provides very comfortable environment to students and their family to pay college fee

Fee structure is quite well balanced. There are different types of scholarship available here according to the category of student from which they belong. Some scholarships are for all the students. For example scholarship on reliance. They pay 50000 rs per year. Which is pretty much amount as a scholarship for students with middle class family.
