It offers a great placement after the course completion, companies like microsoft, amazon google, flipkart and other companies like goldman sachs come to recruit new freshers in their companies and even offer internships as well.
The fests conducted in our college are worth enjoying and marvelous talent is encouraged.
No fees hike policy.cost to study is a bit high for a government organisation but it's worth it.scholarship opportunities financial assistance and job opportunities are very satisfactory over here.

Dislikes

The scholarship availability should not be below 5 lakh.. it should be a larger number beacuse 5 lakh income is lower income than a lower middle class family.
The faculty advisor is a very rude and strict person who doesn't understand the student's problems.
Placements for lower branches are not that good and being a remote area more companies are not coming to college

The geniune review

Likes

The campus is fully lash green campus with no type of pollution and have 2 beautiful ponds
It has all the sports facilities as i m a sport enthusiastic person so for me its very good to have such sports facilities
Seniors are very supportive and there is no ragging, its fully anti ragging college

Dislikes

Professor lectures are very boring and some of them are not very interactive
College situated a distance away from the main city, so its take time to go out there
Boys vs girls ratio is really bad here, in our branch there are 23 girls out of 118 students

Placement Experience:

Nit rourkela is also famous for their placements, in some upper branches placement rate is 100% and i also came here because of the facinated amount of placements, in 2023 data highest placement was 84 lakh per annum, average placement was 15 lakh per annum, median was 12 lakh per annum

the real side of NIT

Likes

A large Lush green campus with proper infrastructure with the best faculties in the nation .
Great alumni network all around the world. With top notch placement.
Safety inside the campus is the best ,NIT has its own security staff.

Dislikes

The hostel facilities are not up to the mark.
Some of newly appointed faculties are not supportive enough.
The attendance policy of the college is not good as 85% is mandatory.

Placement Experience:

The placement of the college are top notch with avg. Package of 15 lakhs and the top package is 1.2 cr. NIT has also a very great alumni network all across the globe being the top position of the top companies.

Nit Rourkela (insight)

Likes

I like the large campus area and the natural beauty in it...
I like the in campus facilities like dhobi ghat, many cafes ...
Our hostel has gym and basketball court, volleyball court, badminton etc

Dislikes

The mess food is often bad when we see in terms of oil and spices..
Inside the campus there is lot of vacant area but it is still useless
Hostel rooms are very small for a btech student at this fees and reputation of the college

Placement Experience:

It's very good in terms of campus placement. The average package was 15 lakhs last year.. And the highest was 1.2 cr.. the package of every branch is very good and satisfying. And in future it will rise it may be rise to 20 lakhs

Nit Rourkela : A mystery

Likes

I like the lush green campus of the campus and it's exposure to everything
I like the infrastructure,the facilities provided in the hostel .
The classroom environment is pretty good

Dislikes

The mess food is not that bad but due to insects in food it creates a mess
The rooms are quite small and it's uncomfortable for two people to live in
Some professors strictly instruct to follow their methods only

Placement Experience:

From 6th semester we become eligible for the campus placements.1320 job offers were available this year .Highest package was 1.2 CR and average package was 14 lpa.330 companies visited the campus. 90 percent students got placed

Exploring NITR

Likes

The lush green vast campus is very attractive .
It has 9 hall of residences and nearly all the facilities are available with8n the campus
Club culture is absolutely op. Nearly 70 clubs are there and student can persue anything according to their own interest

Dislikes

Hostel rooms for 1st year is small and compact
Mess food is not much good if u dont belong to odisha
Behaviour of mess and support staff is very rude

Placement Experience:

From 3rd year or 6th semisster students become eligible for internships and placements.And my plan is to focus on web development and go into non core sector of civil. On an avg 90 percent students are placed every year

The placement is very good in our collage. From the 8th semister students are eligible for the placems. Highest Package was 1.2 crore rupees and average package of cse was 24 lakhs. 330 companies visited in total and 1534 job offers were made

Experience as a student at NIT Rourkela

One of the thing that I liked was Club/Society Culture at NIT Rourkela, there are several societies here at NIT Rourkela where one can get Involved for their Professional development.
The Campus of NIT Rourkela is one of the most among all NITs. The campus is so vast that one can't roam around without a cycle.
Almost Every sport facility is present at NIT Rourkela including a Swimming Pool, Cricket Ground, Basketball Ground e.t.c

Dislikes

One of the things that I disliked is that if you are coming from a city background, you will not feel good in Rourkela. Rourkela is not so developed city where you can find several Clubs and Malls.
The teaching methodology of the Professors is not good too. Same as other Nits and IITs you will get only the old Syllabus.

Placement Experience:

Talking about the placements of my college, they are pretty good. In 2023 the average package for chemical engineering was around 12.9 LPA,which is comparable to other Top NITs. Generally, companies start coming for the placements after the start of the 4th year. Last time there were around 1300 offers were given to 1075 students and 200 companies visited. The highest Package was 1.2 Crore. For our branch, 97 % of students got placed last year.

A friend at NIT Rourkela gave me a detailed review of her college the last time she visited me. Here are some highlights from her descriptive experience

NIT Rourkela has a huge, serene, and well-secured campus.
The institute has diverse clubs that promote extracurricular activities and their performance is better than most clubs of other engineering colleges.
Decent Internet speed is offered and the Dc++ is well maintained.
The hostels are well-maintained and decked with all the basic amenities one could ask for.
Students are actively involved in sports such as gymming and swimming.
The faculties are a mixed bag. Some are underqualified and lethargic while some motivate you to become a better person.
The institute boasts of an extensive entrepreneurship culture.
The institute needs to work on increasing its alumni base and the level of fests it organizes given the huge income the institute generates.
The placement scenario varies from branch to branch. It's decent for branches like CS while pathetic for others.
Rourkela does not have any places to explore and also lacks flight connectivity.
The city of Rourkela is one of the cleanest places so hygiene is not an issue here.
