Frequently Asked Questions

Ques. Do I need a separate application for the Kingston International Success Support Scholarship?

Ans. No, the International Success Support Scholarship is applied automatically to your tuition invoice once you enrol as an overseas fee-status student. Kingston processes the £2,500 credit either against your full up-front payment or against your final instalment if you pay in stages. You do need to hold a firm offer for the January 2026 or September 2026 intake.

Ques. What academic threshold does Kingston University London expect for a merit scholarship?

Ans. The Kingston International Scholarship is judged on academic merit. Assessors look for a strong first-class Indian bachelor’s or an equivalent 2:1 UK classification for PG applicants. UG applicants are assessed on Class XII scores, with 75% or higher considered competitive for the £5,000 award. Chevening and Commonwealth both require a UK 2:1 equivalent, which maps to a strong 60% or higher first-class Indian bachelor’s degree.

Ques. Does the Chevening Scholarship cover living costs for Indian students at Kingston University London?

Ans. Yes, Chevening pays a monthly stipend calibrated to London living costs. Coverage also includes a return economy flight from India, visa and IHS fees, plus an arrival allowance. The London stipend historically clears rent on a shared flat in Zone 3 or 4, where many Kingston students live. Groceries and Oyster travel typically fit inside the balance. Kingston’s Kingston-upon-Thames campus is in Zone 6. Students who live near campus find the Chevening stipend stretches further than for peers at central London universities.

Ques. Which Kingston University London PhD studentship is the most competitive for Indian applicants?

Ans. The general Kingston PhD Studentship competition is the flagship, offering up to 15 fully funded seats across the university’s research groups each year. Indian applicants compete against home and other international candidates on research proposal fit alone. A supervisor-endorsed proposal before submission is decisive. The 2027 competition is expected to open in October 2026, with shortlisting calls typically running in early 2027.

  • To be honest, landing a full-time job in the field you have studied is difficult. I would really suggest having a backup plan of going back as well. if within 3 months you don't find a job after completion of the course, you can opt for a post-study work visa. But I would suggest saving the money and trying for job opportunities within your home country.

Scholarship

  • I am not aware of any scholarships here in the UK, but in India, from my state, Telangana, I had a government overseas scholarship, but it will take years to get approved, and in my case, even after 2 years, it is still pending. You've got to have a lot of documents, all the usual scholarship documents, your semester results and also GRE and IELTS scores, even if they are not required by your university.
  • I didn't even hear from any of my friends who applied for or took any scholarships.

  • I had my relatives and friends here; that's how I got my accommodation sorted. My monthly average expense, including the rent, was about 550 pounds.
  • It is hard to find accommodation here unless you have any friends or relatives who can refer you. Get the accommodation sorted before coming here. It will be extremely difficult and exhausting to find something. My house was about 10 miles away from the campus, as I was lucky some of my friends live in one part of the city and travel to the farther part for studies (about 30-40 miles).

  • Off campus you can search on many apps or just be in touch with the seniors as they help you find the house. Rightmove is the best app and website that is legit; be ready to pay money to the right agent and person, as it is important you stay legal as your address goes into the database of your insurance number.

Scholarship

  • Yes I did receive a scholarship for my course. It’s the “INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP”. The eligibility criteria is simple, you’ve to be an international student
  • The amount for the scholarship was £5000
  • Not that of I know, that if my batch mates received any financial aid in any way
  • Each year only 8 students get this scholarship. By this I mean from the entire intake of that year only 8 students get the scholarship

  • I got my accommodation through the website called “Rightmove”, it’s an online website where you can get flats, studios, houses, apartments and roommates as well.
  • The monthly rent was £500 including the water, light, gas bills. It was a studio so we has separate Hall, kitchen and washroom. We had sofa, dining table, TV, washing machine.
  • Of possible get into the student accommodation which your university provides cause it’s better in terms of quality.
  • My accommodation was not that far from my university, it was 25 min walking distance

  • University helps in getting in touch with seniors who are leaving, which is the easiest form to find an accommodation. I found my accommodation the same way. I got picked up from Heathrow airport and dropped off at my accommodation, so there was no hassle for me. There are many private accommodation near uni as well.

Scholarship

  • I was extremely disappointed as there were no scholarships issued to my class students.
  • The website claimed there is international scholarship award worth 5000 pounds, but none of my friends received it. Also, I heard 1 or 2 people in my campus has got the 2000 pound scholarship.
  • Out of the student enrollments there were hardly few people who were offered scholarship based on their home country, educational background and achievements.

  • I found my accommodation through the University Facebook Group for freshers. I got a message of two girls who pursue the same course. We referred a private website called Spareroom to confirm a rental accommodation.
  • I recommend students to be active in the facebook group to easily connect with the fellow classmates. Luckily I stay just 10 mins away my campus.
  • Many students prefer to stay in Hounslow at low rent. But its far away from London (1 and half hours travel in bus)
