Course Curriculum

8

  • My course is a mix of both theory and practical. It was moderate curriculum with practical applications done for the assignment submission.
  • The positive aspect is the assessment as there is no pen and paper examination but real time problem solving and research aiding to more knowledge and exposure.
  • The negative aspect is the teaching phase as it is nothing different from the undergraduate classes.

Admission Experience

  • I have applied to almost 5 universities across the UK. I got shortlisted in 4 universities such as Coventry University, Kingston University, University of Chester, University of Leicester and didn't get any response from University of Leeds. I literally had no clue why Leeds didn't accept my application. However, it was not my first priority as it was purely a management course with expensive tuition fee of 30,000 pounds.

  • My decision is influenced by the student life and location of the university. Also, I considered universities with better QS world ranking on my particular course. The admission process was quite straight forward with fewer steps like Pre CAS interview and final CAS statement.
My university had a criteria with 6.5 or above in IELTS. The overall experience is good and well structured for the post graduates. The only challenge I faced is the submission of financial documents as they expect few specific formats thereby rejecting bank statements if they have all information with a different format.

  • I applied to the September 2024 intake. The application process depends on individual document submission. It can be completed in a month also. Pre CAS interview may arrive after a week you got the confirmation mail. Once the interview is done, under 2 weeks we'll receive the final CAS statement after verification of financial documents. Immediately we can apply for VISA appointment. After the appointment we receive the Student Visa within 14 working days.

Class Schedule

8

  • My course is scheduled for 2-3 days in a week starting at 9.30 to 5.00 pm in the evening with regular intervals.
  • We have a lunch time for an hour. The average is not many, maybe around 10-15 students.
  • The course module has totally around 20 students out of which 50% are Indians.

Faculty

6

  • On my opinion, 1:15 in my course. This ratio is crucial for individual performance in their academics. The teaching methodology is the usual and nothing different from the standard presentation and explanation.
  • The course content is minimal with a better depth than UG degree. I think deep diving in a particular topic or concept will enable us to secure a job in a relevant field in UK.
  • Faculty members are very helpful and friendly in clearing all our doubts. I could not experience any guidance from faculty in assisting for part time or a full time job.
  • I will always admire my course leader who is extremely talented and well experienced in teaching. Always a fan of his energy and enthusiasm. His positive words and appreciation to students makes him stand out from other professors.

Campus Life

8

  • My University has four campuses namely the Penryn Road Campus, Kingston Hill campus, Knight part Campus and Roehampton Vale Campus. We have dedicated infrastructure for each and every department.
  • The Penryn campus has the largest library followed by all other campuses with respect to the department. There is Kingston Student Union conducting various events and festivals occasionally.
  • We have Freshers week, Elevate and Campus placement fair and the career centre for future prospects.
  • Sports activities are available only at the penryn road campus. But we need get some contacts to enter the sports team in kingston.

Part Time Jobs

  • Those position are very rare. We need strong recommendation and network to get a position in the University. The pay is very high up to 14 pounds an hour. Jobs like Library/teaching assistant are available.

  • The maximum working hours is 20 hrs per week. I feel that its really difficult to find part-time jobs on Kingston. The most common way to get campus part-time is to make connections and find a good referral to easily get into interview.

  • The average pay is 11.44 pounds per hour. There are job boards and websites to apply for part time jobs. Most of the universities will be assisting in drafting a suitable CV for part time.

  • Websites coople, indeed and reed are popular in finding a job in your locality. After shortlisting there will be formal interview and then the offer. The salary will be paid weekly or monthly depending on the employer.

Placement

6

  • According to me, about 30% of the students are successfully landed in interview.
  • Many of the seniors have move back to India due to personal reasons. Some of the seniors have migrated to PSW visa and landed in a job after 6 or 7 months of their graduation.
  • Job hunt is all about powerful connections in LinkedIn and University staff and their constant hard work on the job role you want to land.
  • It is mandatory to upskills ourselves in every way possible to find a job in this competitive era.

Accommodation

Off Campus
6

  • I found my accommodation through the University Facebook Group for freshers. I got a message of two girls who pursue the same course. We referred a private website called Spareroom to confirm a rental accommodation.
  • I recommend students to be active in the facebook group to easily connect with the fellow classmates. Luckily I stay just 10 mins away my campus.
  • Many students prefer to stay in Hounslow at low rent. But its far away from London (1 and half hours travel in bus)

Exams

  • As I stated before, for my course IELTS is compulsory. For technical courses ATAS certificate is mandatory to file the VISA.
  • The documents are common for every university in the UK focused on Statement of Purpose, LOR, Updated CV, academic documents such as Marksheets and Degree Certificate.
  • Yes, we need to pass the Pre-CAS interview in order a get the CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance) certificate.

Fees

  • My course has a tuition fee of 16900 pounds for international students. There is no extra charges hidden for books or lab facilities.
  • We must pay a initial deposit of 5000 pounds to get the CAS statement required to file Student Visa. For the September 2024 intake, the fees can be paid in installments before January 16th.
  • The monthly expenses are quite high as I stay in a private accommodation near to my campus. I pay nearly 700 pounds a month for rent excluding bills.
  • The gas, electric and wifi bills sum up to 70 pounds. My university has regular bus facilities on working days. Its really helpful to travel to university for course work.
  • For general bus transport its takes 3 pounds for each travel whereas 8.5 pounds for train travel. Hence, approximately 50 pounds might be spent in transportation.

Scholarship

  • I was extremely disappointed as there were no scholarships issued to my class students.
  • The website claimed there is international scholarship award worth 5000 pounds, but none of my friends received it. Also, I heard 1 or 2 people in my campus has got the 2000 pound scholarship.
  • Out of the student enrollments there were hardly few people who were offered scholarship based on their home country, educational background and achievements.
