What Students Say
Likes
- Location wise University was good it had 3 different campus each catering for different subject
- The support staff at University is also good as it provides best help to students studying over there
- As I was research student over there i had good interaction with faculty they were well qualified and had good knowledge about the respective subjects they were dealing with
Dislikes
- As far there are no such dislikes the only thing I would like to say if they bring more companies for placement which will help student to secure job
Course Curriculum
- In general, the difficulty level is average. My course was more practical-based rather than theoretical
- The assessments were mostly assignments and posters
- The classes were scheduled according to the availability of faculty during the week. Only 3 theory classes were rest of the session was conducted in the laboratory
- There were very less Indian students in my course, only 2-3.
Admission Experience
- I applied to Nottingham Trent University and the University of Portsmouth and was selected by both universities. I chose Nottingham Trent University over Portsmouth because of its location and the overall crime rate. Both universities are nice in terms of the education and research they have in there.
- I would suggest that people apply to more universities if they want a higher percentage of selection
- The reason behind choosing Nottingham Trent University was mainly because they had a good research facility, basically in my field.
- The admission process was very easy; it didn't have any critical processes
- They accept IELTS, and the band level should be 6 in each section
- The overall admission process was swift. The only thing that consumed a lot of time was the ATAS certificate, which is required if you are pursuing a research degree
- The admission process was swift. I applied for the September intake and got an offer letter within a month of applying
- The only thing that took time, because my degree was in research, was the ATAS certificate
- I would suggest applying for the ATAS certificate well in advance, as it takes more time and will delay the further process, like the VISA application
Faculty
- As I was researching, the ratio to student and faculty was 1:1
- The quality of education I received there was better than the Indian education system, as they focused on what is currently going on and not on history
- Their teaching methodology was in the form of a PowerPoint presentation
- The faculty does not support students doing part-time work as they feel it will drain students' energy but yes they help in finding full time jobs in the field
Campus Life
- The University has 3 campuses dedicated to each stream
- All campuses have facilities like a canteen, library, health centre and gym
- There are lots events happening on each campus. One of the major events that happens is the NTU global event, in which you can participate and introduce your culture at the University
- The University hosts a global event, Science Expo and various sports matches including cricket, football, rugby and ice hockey.
Part Time Jobs
- There are no part-time jobs related to the field on campus because there are many PhDs and post-doctoral candidates
- Other campus jobs include library assistant, canteen team member, and receptionist
- 20 hours per week is the standard part-time allowance; anything beyond that is a legal offence, which can cause issues
- The minimum hourly wages depend on the age group
- It is easy to secure part part-time opportunity
- Earning depends upon the age group the student is in. One can secure a job by simply applying through job sites. It is easy to get a part-time job. One should apply online and then wait for an interview call, or can go directly to stores or restaurants where there is help wanted sign. The process just involves an interview, there is no written test and a check of your right to work status
Placement
- 50% students secure a job within the first six months after completing the course
- The basic salary ranges from £20,000 to £30,000 annually. One can find a job through online job sites, and can find help from the employability department of the university
- In my batch, we all got placed within 6 months after completing the course
- The major companies that hire for my field are GSK, P&G, and AstraZeneca
Accommodation
- I found accommodation online through a site called University Living. in had booked a studio flat as my accommodation
- My monthly rent was 600 pounds, which included wifi, gas, electricity, and water bills
- The cleaning was done every weekend
- I would recommend booking accommodation as early as possible, as the rates may fluctuate based on the availability of accommodations
- My accommodation was merely a 5-minute walk from campus
Exams
- A candidate must give a basic English test, which is IELTS, and must score a band 6 in each section
- With the University application, you need to submit a statement of purpose, 2 LOR and a CV describing your academics and interests
- Apart from it University also had a scholarship form which was used in gaining scholarships
- I had no interview during the admission process
Fees
- My total fees were £15000, which I paid partially. Initially, I had to pay £3000 to confirm my seat
- And I also received a Scholarship of £3500, which reduced my fees to £950,0, which I paid partially
- The fees can be paid in full or partially. There is no such time limit to pay can be paid anytime during the course
- The monthly expenses, including rent, transportation, and food, can roughly be £800
Scholarship
- Yes, I received an International Scholar Student Scholarship of £3500
- The eligibility criteria depend on the answers you give during filling out the scholarship form
- Most of my friends received a scholarship from the University. Some of my friends didn't receive it all, depending on the answers that were given in the form
- The average of 500 students gets a scholarship from different fields and different scholarships
