What Students Say
Likes
- Infrastructure is extremely good.

Dislikes
- Workload towards certain Subjects unbalanced
- Some resources are outdated
- Location is not the best as it is a city campus.
Course Curriculum
- Extremely difficult. Being a one-year course, everything is packed completely. You never get time to relax or chill. The positives about my course are that it fits someone who wants to transition from a complete tech background to management. 3 days per week, 2 sessions each day, is the class frequency. My class had approximately 40 students. around 50 percent of the class are all indian students.
Admission Experience
- I applied to 2 universities- Both accepted (Coventry University and Nottingham trent University). Did not receive any rejections. I can't really say that because I targeted my universities very carefully. As i had experience doing a master's in CS in the US prior to the UK, I knew exactly how I should be applying to Universities. In my opinion though Rejections happen because you overestimate and apply to too many ambitious and just one safe university, which results in many rejections. I would suggest just applying to one ambitious university.
- Firstly Employability support. Secondly, I have been connecting with a professor from the university regarding research opportunities toward Voluntary sector. I would say I had a bias to work with this professor specifically to get into the voluntary sector. Being a CS graduate, I also wanted a course that was a mix of management and tech and not many universities offered that either. Management and Business Analytics is a unique mix I could find only in NTU and Coventry. However I chose NTU as it was just a bit cheaper than Coventry and fits my budget
- The entire process took place in literally 3 weeks from the date of application until I received my CAS. The results came out, though, in just 2 weeks. Last week was for me to complete the advance payment. I applied for the fall intake of 2023. I applied in the month of April 2023. By the end of April I was completely finalised and even got my visa.
Faculty
- My batch I would say the ratio is 1:100. The ratio really had no influence, as anyone who was proactive could book a one-on-one session with faculty and clear all doubts. I have never faced difficulty booking this appointment. The teaching method is highly practical and doesn't force you to do things alone. Most activities are group activities which increase collaboration and break any kind of hesitancy to do things alone.
- I literally liked all my faculties; everyone was amazing and I ended up being one of the university toppers. So no complaints.
Campus Life
- There are 2 campuses. City campus and clifton campus. The Clifton campus is far better than the city one i did. It was extremely spacious. But unfortunately it was only for engineering departments so I had to study in the city campus.
- More accessible to entertainmeent places but still the location was always crowded, which made it a bit uncomfortable but the campus itself was extremely good.
Part Time Jobs
- Very few got TA and RA positions, as these were mostly for PHD students. The pay was minimum wage; however, the top 5 students, including me, were provided with Internships which were pay grade G at 16 GBP per hour, which is very high. I was able to convert that into a full-time role and am a data analyst at the observatory within the university. Other part-time jobs included roles in coffee shops, canteens, open day supporting staff, gyms, etc. 20 hours per week is the maximum allowed. On-campus jobs are easy to get if you apply early but being UK you are allowed to work anywhere you want.
- Restaurants are where most indian students work, as they are the easiest jobs you could get. the process is straightforward. walk into a shop that has a role open. You literally join the next day. Online portals and university sites clearly have all open roles. Early bird gets the worm. 11-12 GBP for regular jobs. They make 16-18 if it is a night shift job.
Placement
- From my university, almost everyone finds some job within 6 months. We had a dedicated employability hub that helps in building resumes, applying for interviess mastering all the skills you need to get a job. 25k-30k annually is the salary range most people find jobs in. I converted my internship within the university to full-time with a pay of 25k annually. Linkedin, indeed are two portals people usually get jobs in.
Accommodation
- I uses student roost to find accommodation. It was student housing, which was in sheffield much far from my university; I had to take a train every day. I chose this because my girlfriend was in leeds and i had to find something midway. It was 900 GBP for a studio, which i shared with my girlfriend. Zero challenges. Everything was extremely smooth. I even ordered bedding utensils etc even before I came, and my accommodation set everything up clearly.
Exams
- IELTS is the only exam required. I scored 9 in it. Required Documents were Statement of Purpose and a CV. No LOR was required. There wasn't any interview either. Everything was completely online. I would say it is a completely straightforwardapplication with no unnecessary hassle asking for more documents and details. Of course, all educational qualification documents were asked for, though right from School education
Fees
- Total course fees were 18000 GBP. 3000 GBP was an advance and a one-time payment upon attending induction. It was yearly fees. Living in sheffield and commuting to Nottingham, my travel expenses were 120 GBP per month. Rent in sheffield was 500 GBP per month. Groceries, entertainment, etc., cost another 300-400 GBP. I would say 1000 GBP per month is more than enough to live comfortably. If on a budget, we could do 800 GBP too.
Scholarship
- Unfortunately, I did not receive any scholarship because I failed to apply by the deadline. If you received Distinction in your first 5 subjects. Also, it depends on how many grades you have received in your undergraduate, which I am not 100 percent sure of, as the details were only shared with students who applied. That Scholarship amount was 3000 GBP. Around 100 people across all departments received scholarships.
